25.01.2022 13 Macbook Pro 2018 repair wont charge This week we have received a 13 Macbook Pro 2018 model which wont charge the battery. Customer used it until the battery drained and sequentially it did not turn on after that.... These models have 2 USB-C charging chips which if not in sync with each other disable charge on both of the USB-C ports. Most people think if one port is not working they can keep using the other port to charge the Macbook. Unfortunately, that is not the vase with new generation Macbooks. After completion of the diagnostic, we have provided clear pricing to the customer and waited to his response. 25.01.2022 Very rarely laptop turning on with no picture would be anything different than screen or graphic related problem. Especially if there is no liquid history or any other damage to the laptop. And seems like neither of these happened and now this Lenovo Laptop turns on with no picture. Repair would require to take it apart and investigate deeper. This seemed a lot like corrupted bios. It was turning on, with no picture, no response from the capslock key.... 23.01.2022 Straight forward repair we had was this Macbook Air 2017 model which was not charging due to water damage on the DC-IN board. Apparently, the customer spilled some water on the table which seemed like initially havent reached the Macbook which was sitting on the table. But after a week, it suddenly stopped charging. And she called us for advice.... When it came the Macbook was not even turning on. But customer assured us that it was working fine until it drained the battery and because it was not charging customer could not charge it. When we connected it to our power supply we could see that PPG3_HOT was not engaging the online circuit and refusing to let charger release power. 22.01.2022 Another laptop we have received was this Dell XPS 15 laptop turns on with no picture. We knew straight forward this was a bios issue, as customer mentioned that there were updates ongoing before it rebooted with a black screen. It is always useful to know the history of the issue and what happened before the computer stop functioning. This allows as to do a quick and accurate diagnostic. 22.01.2022 Another Macbook we had recently with Distortion on the screen. It fails to load into the operating system. Although, it looks like an issue caused by a damaged operating system or hard drive. We could see the horizontal pinkish lines on the screen. These lines are caused due to a bad connection between the graphic chip and the logic board.... A clogged cooling system of Macbook Pro causing Graphic problems. When we opened the Macbook we could see how the system is clogged and probably was overheating heavily. 21.01.2022 Accidents happen, and they happen usually at the worst time possible. When everyone relies on their computers at these difficult times, Macbook water damage is the worst can happen. The customer found us on the web and called for an inquiry. We knew what to expect from the fault described and able to quote adequately. We didn't waste time and jump straight to it. First, we need to confirm the issue by turning it on. Great about these models is that clear Apple logo allows us to quickly diagnose missing backlight on Macbooks by shining a torch through it. Upon opening, it was clear there was slight liquid damage on the LCD screen connector causing it to short the power lines of the screen. 21.01.2022 We have received a 2011 model Slow Macbook for Repair this week. It was working painfully slow also the trackpad was not clicking. We knew we have multiple issues and needed to give an accurate quote for the repair so the client could decide if it is worth fixing or would he be better off with buying a new Macbook. We suspected that there was something pushing the trackpad and causing it to not engage the button. But we were not expecting to be caused by this.... When we took off the bottom cover we could see that the battery was expanded so much that it was pushing the trackpad. This could eventually crack the trackpad. 20.01.2022 We have received this iMac with loading bar not progressing and being stuck halfway through. This is an often issue we get with 5 or more year old iMacs where the hard drive is worn out and the system cannot load into. 18.01.2022 This Macbook Air arrived today with a keyboard mistyping and behaving erratically when typed. We took its bottom cover and apart than being a bit dusty, we have not noticed any liquid damage on it. It was clear that we need a new keyboard replacement for it, but was a mystery how some keys of this Macbook Air stop functioning without any visible liquid damage.... Keyboards on Macbooks are attached to the aluminium palmrest with caps and screws which are quite hard to remove, hence most of the repair shops including Apple replace the whole palmrest when keyboard needs replacing. This increases the cost of the repair as well as contributes to the more e-waste generated and ending up in our environment. 16.01.2022 Acer Chromebook Repair broken hinge is a common repair we get on most laptops. Laptop Hinges are susceptible to dust and fluff which collects and tightens the mechanism, causing hinge support to be under enormous pressure. This pressure causes hinge supporting plastics to snap and break. If we check the damage closely, we can see how the hinge has protruded through the screen assembly and damaged the screen cable. This caused the Acer Chromebook to show a black screen.... Apart than the broken hinge, it was clear that there is also an issue with the screen cable. When we checked closely, we could say that it must be squashed between the covers and damaged. Thus resulting in black screen problems on this Acer Chromebook. We took the screen assembly apart to check the damage and repair needed. Disassembling the screen frame revealed the damaged screen cable. It seems like the bent caused damaged wires within. 15.01.2022 Macbook we have received this week was sent to us from interstate and had issues with its backlight. The customer called us early last week and described the issue he was facing. We were well aware of what was happening by his explanations and able to give him a quote for the repair over the phone. He felt confident in our abilities and cost for the repair and send his Macbook Air for us to repair here in Adelaide. When the Macbook arrived we turned it on and we could see tha...t there was a dim picture on the screen but no backlight. This Macbook needed a repair of the backlight circuit. 15.01.2022 We absolutely love these 27 iMacs, although they are 2009-2013 models they are so powerful that can last for another 5 years with no doubt. However, like any other iMacs and Mac computer, they have a weakness the heat. When they get clogged with dust and fluff, their cooling system becomes ineffective. Exactly this happened to our customer. His iMac graphic card failed and he start getting these colourful patches on the screen just before it would turn black and shut down.... He mentioned that his graphic card was replaced recently (a couple of years ago) by an Apple Authorized Service Center and wanted to understand why it fails in such a short time. 14.01.2022 Macbook Pro with a Liquid spillage is a common repair we get. This 13 Macbook Pro was one of those cases. Firstly we checked if there was a current consumption by the system. As seen on the picture, we provide 18.7V but the mAcbook is not pulling any current, hence not charging the battery nor letting system to turn on Macbook Pro liquid spillage Repair Process... Next step was to take it apart and investigate the damage inside. As seen of the picture, Macbooks with a liquid spillage if left untreated start creating oxidation. Which then Shorts through the components and corrodes traces. We start measuring and detected a faulty MOSFET of this Macbook Pro which needed a repair of a liquid spillage accident. Located faulty MOSFET is responsible for controlling current flow into the MacBook. Due to liquid shorting the chip, it could not operate properly. We had to clean the area where the corrosion had damaged the contact points as well as replace faulty chips. 14.01.2022 Another high profile A1707 Macbook Liquid Damage Repair case we have received this week was this 15 Macbook Retina 2018 model. It appeared to had a liquid spillage through the charging ports and kept working for a couple of days. Then suddenly one morning this Macbook refused to turn on and needed a repair. The customer called us and we have arranged her to come around in our workshop in Adelaide for a diagnostic of her liquid damaged late 2018 Macbook Pro. 14.01.2022 This time we had Macbook Pro Retina 13 with a logic board which had a liquid spillage on it. There were no light on the charger and no responding system to turn on signals. We pulled the logic part out and start investigating the liquid damaged zones. Liquid damaged was around the SMC controller responsible for controlling which chip to allow the system to turn on and operate. 12.01.2022 This is a straightforward repair where we take the laptop apart and replace the broken screen with a brand new one. Although a couple of years old, these laptops have superb screen quality. And dont give eye fatigue easily after prolonged use. 12.01.2022 This Dell laptop was brought to us from a customer who was using it regularly on the field. And although it was used mainly for business work it also had fair graphic-intensive usage too, mainly for streaming and some video editing. It was clear that it needed a dell laptop repair. Issue customer was experiencing was the Windows would not log in in the user account. Instead, it would sign the user out immediately after he logs in. This sounded like a software corruption. 09.01.2022 This time we had a 11 Macbook Air for repair. We dont get these 11 Macbook Air much anymore. They are extremely reliable little Macbooks. 09.01.2022 This time we had a different repair for a change. We havent had a Macbook Battery Replacement for a while, especially the Retina model. It was nice to have a different repair for a change. These models are solid Macbooks and one of the most robust models out there, the dedicated graphic card gives a serious punch. Even 4 years later they still step up and can handle pretty much any task thrown at them. This Macbook Pro Retina came to us with an exclamation mark on the batter...y, stating that the battery needs a replacement. The moment you disconnect the charger, Macbook will switch off. When we took it apart we could see the battery on one side was expanding heavily. This is a fire hazard and would need replacement as soon as possible. 08.01.2022 An unusual repair we had was this Razer laptop which suddenly start freezing and showing blue screens. Even after Windows reinstall, laptop blue screen kept reoccurring randomly. The customer tried to reinstall the operating system, but even after that the system was freezing intermittently and showing random blue screens. Razor laptops are high-performance laptops which can easily tackle most of the calculations thrown to them.... However, like many laptops, they have their weak spots. And with this model is the heat transmitter pad located on the SSD. It seems to be a bit thicker than it should be and the bottom cover pressure bends the SSD drive and over time it develops cold joints. While the laptop was on the operation table, the customer also asked if we can pump up the memory and do a recent memory upgrade. These Crucial SSD drives are really fast, incomparable to any other SSD drives. Once we have fitted both 1TB SSD and 32GB RAM, this Razer laptop become a beast. 05.01.2022 This time we had a stuck iMac loading bar Repair in our workshop in Adelaide. The latest Catalina upgrade completely baffled this already weak hard drive. 05.01.2022 These 13 Macbook Air are amazing laptops. But like all laptops They gather dust and overheat. Due to the all around aluminium design its hard to feel of it gets hot. And by the time we feel the heat in the middle back area, its too late. Thats what happened to this Macbook Air. The customer tried to clean the keyboard by spraying a cleaner to the keyboard and wiping it off. But these new butterfly design keyboards are so thin and fragile, that a little drop of water is enough to render some keys unuseful. 04.01.2022 A laptop screen may show deformations while it is being opened like this Acer Spin 360 laptop with a broken hinge, we received recently. If you notice on the animation, the screen glass pops up a bit when the screen is opened. We have a couple of options here, to replace the back cover or repair it. But first, we need to understand what has caused the back cover to break its support for the hinges.... Although it is just a 2 year old model, the hinges collected enough dust to tightened the mechanism and increase their resistance when opened. Ideally, they should be open and close smoothly, but what we saw was pressure resulting in the screen to almost pop out of its place. Replacing the back cover and both of the hinges would be the ideal scenario. However, it is an expensive repair and due to the limited budget of this customer, we have to repair them instead. Due to the thickness of the screen, this is quite a difficult process. As there is no much space to work on, we cannot easily glue the area.
