22.01.2022 It's that time of year again! To all life members, members and the broader Ivanhoe Harriers community, you are invited to the club's annual trivia night that will this year be held online. This means that this year your team can work together from multiple locations be that different suburbs, states or countries. Given how crazy this year has been and the fact that under the current and indeed the upcoming restrictions an in person event sadly won't occur this year, the comm...ittee would like to bring everyone together for a social event anyway. The trivia night will take place on Saturday, 14th November 2020 at 7pm for a 7:30pm start. To register simply visit www.triviascore.com and click the link at the top of that page referring to the Ivanhoe Harriers trivia night. Upon clicking on that link you be directed to a page that will allow you to purchase tickets and raffle tickets. Upon the purchase of your tickets you will receive an automated email that will contain your tickets as well as provide you with a 'Zoom' link that you can use to sign in to the trivia night on the 14th of November. There's also no need to save the email as you will receive a reminder the day before. Please fell free to call John Edney on 0407 877 232 or email at [email protected] should you have any questions or queries or are able to assist by donating prizes to the event. Also, please ensure you have Zoom downloaded on your computer or mobile device prior to the evening and that someone in your team is able to have a separate browser or device handy to access the online answer sheet.

20.01.2022 Best of luck to the Ivanhoe Harriers athletes and all runners competing in the Sandown relays this weekend. Weve been putting in big efforts there for many years as can be seen from this mid 80s pic of Barry Greig passing to Tim Erickson (thanks to Damien Cook for digging this out!). #xcr19 #xcrunning #xcr #sandownrelays #athletics #ivanhoe

19.01.2022 I discovered another bunch of photos of the Harriers runners from a late Athletics Victoria post of the Lakeside Cross Country round earlier in July. Includes a new angle of Josh Philip (horizontal), plus other more vertically positioned Ivanhoe runners #xcr19 #athsvic #thisisathletics #xcrunning #lakeside #beyourbest @ Ivanhoe, Victoria, Australia

17.01.2022 Well done to this crew who competed at Bundoora Cross Country in June. The senior men covered a hilly 10km and placed 6th in their division. Keep up the good work! #xcrunning #xcr #xcr19 #ivanhoe #athletics

17.01.2022 Ivanhoe Harriers Under 18 Ivanhoe Grammar team representing exceptionally well at Bundoora All Schools Cross Country champs in June. Our team of Thomas Langdon, Justin Cementon, Josh Philip and Ben Brunton finished 5th in the 6km event beating out all other AGSV schools in the competition. This included a Nationals qualifier for Thomas! Fantastic effort team! #xcrunning #xcr #xcr19 #ivanhoegrammar @ Ivanhoe, Victoria, Australia

16.01.2022 The 2020 Cross Country team that never was!! Year 12 is all over except for the exams in November. Life looks tough at the top!!! Shown here at school, studying hard and replicating an old pose from left: Thomas Langdon, Josh Philip, Justin Cementon and Ben Brunton. These 4 lads have been the backbone of the Ivanhoe Grammar School cross country team over the last few years and will, no doubt, be great contributors to the Harriers line-up in years to come.... We are looking forward to seeing them in action next year in a hopefully, COVID free cross country environment.

15.01.2022 One from the archives! During 1965-66 Film Australia (Commonwealth Film Unit) made a series of films to encourage immigration to Australia and to highlight the various social activities, employment and educational opportunities and lifestyles of the various cities and regional centres throughout Australia. This "Living in Melbourne" episode contains a snippet of some old Harriers running along the Yarra. We have managed to identify Bob Cochrane, Graham Wise and John Boas. Ple...ase speak up if anyone can help identifying the other runners! The full video runs for almost 20 minutes and is a fantastic look at life in Melbourne in the 1960's if you are interested to take a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch #ivanhoeharriers #melbourne #melbournelife #runnersofinstagram #runners #athsvic

14.01.2022 One from the archives - a home made prototype Ivanhoe Harriers uniform proudly made and modelled by Damien Cook. This instigated the uniform change in the early 90s to what we still wear today. Last night the committee began talks of the next uniform change. Maybe a mesh of the old and the new? What do you think? #ivanhoeharriers #outwiththeoldinwiththenew #timeforchange @ Ivanhoe, Victoria, Australia

For all of August when you eat at @grilldburgers in Fairfield you will find a Local Matters jar with the Ivanhoe Harriers name on it to pop your token in. At the end of the month Grilld will help our club by donating either $300 or $100 depending on which jar has the most tokens. 13.01.2022 A headline from 1989 that the club can be proud of, highlighting our strength in distance running at the time. 13.01.2022 Members of the Ivanhoe Harriers B Grade Cross Country team in 1981 after taking out the Teams Premiership. A very fine bunch of tough distance runners they were. From left to right: Mike Novak, Gus MacDonald, Steve Griffiths, Bruce Ackland and Bruce Meakin.

12.01.2022 Thanks to the 100+ who came along to our annual trivia night on Friday the 22nd. It was another big success for the club and all who attended. Already looking forward to it next year! #ivanhoeharriers #ivanhoe @ Ivanhoe, Victoria, Australia

10.01.2022 More from the Tan Relays on the weekend. Once again a great effort and a big thanks to all who contributed for the club in the 2019 Cross Country season. Bigger things to come next year for sure! Focus now is on the track & field season starting in a couple of weeks. 10.01.2022 Super 6 Handicap Competition or The COVID Cup In order to try to provide some form of competition to compensate for the lost cross country season, Barry Greig and Jeff Franklin contrived this event. Barry will calculate handicaps for the six events which will conclude prior to Christmas. The events being 400m, 800m, 1000m, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m.... The events can be run singly, or in pairs, or if allowed small groups. The first event was a 1000m time trial which was contested by 16 members of the Club. Sami Rowe was the winner of this first event beating her handicap time by 38 seconds, second was Alex Linke with a very fine run of 2:55 beating his handicap time by 25 seconds. Fastest time for this event was David Greig who ran a very good 2:45, also beating his handicap time by 20 seconds.

09.01.2022 The Ivanhoe Harriers are now on Instagram! If you are an Instagram user then follow our page to get all the latest news on our club events. All posts will be shared to Facebook as well so non-Instagram users wont miss a thing. #ivanhoeharriersathleticsclub #athletics #trackandfield #crosscountryrunning #athleticsvictoria #athleticsaustralia

08.01.2022 Super 6 Handicap Competition or The COVID Cup Event number 2 in our Super Six series was the 3000m on the Yarra Trail. We had 13 athletes attempt the challenge with the best performance coming from Lennox Williams, the only athlete to beat his handicap time. Well done Lennox. Fastest time was David Greig with a time of 9:49 and second fastest was Andrew Luscombe with a time of 9:55. Handicaps were a bit tough on this round as the results show, with most runners between 1 mi...nute and 2 minutes behind their handicap times. However our Chief Handicapper now has a body of good evidence for him to calculate competitive handicaps for the next event which is the 5km. Photo is Coach, James Lynch, presenting the chocolates to Lennox after his great win. Looking on from left: Flynn Deacon, Alex Linke, Jal Wishart, Charles Shea, James, Ben Morrison and Lennox. #covidcup #ivanhoeharriers #ihcruising #xcr20

07.01.2022 Go Ivanhoe!! Good luck all athletes in this weekends playoff.

05.01.2022 A lot of our athletes were not available for todays gruelling (but not as cold as usual) 15km Road race around Lake Wendouree. However we managed to fill a full team for our Division 5 Men and achieved some good results. Vince Mancuso had a great run with an impressive time of 56.33 followed by James Lynch with 1.03.30. Chris Struve ran a nice solid pace throughout the race and achieve a time of 1.18.42 followed by John David who brought the team home with 1.23.48. Our team came 4th out of 8 teams which is a good result. Updated ladder status will be in the next Cursus. @ Lake Wendouree

05.01.2022 Also representing us in the Under 20 mens 8km event at Bundoora Cross Country in June was David Greig who put in a great performance having just stepped up out of the Under 18 age group. His school Trinity Grammar placed 4th overall on the day. Well done David! #xcrunning #xcr #xcr19 #trinitygrammar @ Ivanhoe, Victoria, Australia

04.01.2022 Trivia Night We had a marvellous evening on Saturday 14th November, very skilfully hosted by John Edney. The competition was tight, the questions were evenly spread and we had a tie for first place. Amazingly, we had almost 100 attending and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the Zoom competition, while relaxing at home.... Congratulations to John Edney who simply excelled, with his programming, questions and overall management of the event. Grateful thanks to our sponsors and donors of Trivia Night prizes East Ivanhoe Grocers (@eastivanhoegrocers) is a local Foodworks supermarket with a fantastic array of fresh foods and take-away meals. They have been a very generous supporter of the Club for some years now. Additional thanks to our other sponsors @celebrantjohn and Aspect Underwriting. #ivanhoeharriers #trivianight

03.01.2022 New Uniform!! The Committee has been working away at developing a new uniform. This project gained traction following our joining with the Old Ivanhoe Grammarians’ Association (@oldivanhoegrammariansofficial) and the desire to display their badge. This presented as a convenient opportunity as in recent years, a number of club members and past members had mentioned their preference of our original uniform and bolder colours.... The Committee looked at options with the desire to return to our original colours as far as possible and develop a design that was a closer resemblance to the original uniform featuring the historic maltese cross. The final artwork is shown here. OIGA badge on the right breast, the maltese cross will be a fraction larger than shown in this proof. We are delighted to be able to embrace the past and show ourselves as distinctly Ivanhoe. We are sure all the older members will be very pleased. A straw poll of our younger athletes at training has given a tick of approval to this next step in our evolution. #ivanhoeharriers #oldivanhoegrammarians #athsvic #newuniform

03.01.2022 Congratulations to our team at Anglesea Cross Country in June who had a win! This places us within reach of winning the division and being promoted so keep up the good work runners! Thanks for your efforts team! #xcrunning #xcr #xcr19 #ivanhoe #athletics @ Ivanhoe, Victoria, Australia

01.01.2022 New club records!! At the Melbourne Marathon, on Sunday 13th October 2019 one of our newest members, Belinda Cooke ran a time of 3:56:04 which places her in our Records as the best marathon time recorded by a female member in the Club history. Congratulations to Belinda on a fine run. Not to be outdone, daughter Laila ran a massive Club record in the womens 3000m at Aberfeldie on Saturday 19th October 2019.... Laila ran 11:50.33 setting a new Under 14 record and in the process smashed the previous Womens Under 16, Under 18, Under 20 and Open records. Previous junior Womens records were held by Kate Nayda and the previous Open Womens record of 12:41.4 was set by Katrina Philip on 28th April 2008. That was a massive effort by Laila and congratulations from all at the Club. #ivanhoeharriers #clubrecord #changeourgame #ihcruising
