22.01.2022 Did you know that lost pets can be reunited with their owner through simply scanning for a microchip? It is a legal requirement now for all pets adopted from breeders or rescue organisations to be microchipped prior to their adoption. A small chip is inserted via an injection into the skin between the shoulder blades, much like a vaccination, and this chip number is then registered with one of the animal registry databases in Australia. In order for us/the council to reunite ...you with your missing fur baby, please make sure you keep your pet's microchip details up to date. We are able to scan for a microchip for any lost pet brought into the clinic, in the hopes of reuniting them with their owners...even if they've traveled a fair way from home To check and make sure that your details are correct, you can contact one of the two databases below to confirm your details: Central Animal Records (CAR) Www.car.com.au OR Australiasian Animal Registry (part of the RASNSW) Www.rasnsw.com.au/animal-registry/ #ivanhoevetclinic #ivanhoevet #lostpet #dogsofinstagram #catsofinstagram

21.01.2022 Great tips from the RSPCA to help keep your pets safe in this hot weather

20.01.2022 We're all about patient care at IVC This gorgeous boy was stung by a bee last week and, after having some antihistamine injections, was treated to a nice belly rub Bee stings can be quite dangerous and scary, particularly if your pet has an anaphylactic reaction to the sting. Bees can sting in various locations but we commonly see cats and dogs stung on or around the face and around their paws.... Not all pets react the same way and might display varying severity of symptoms, I.e. ranging from minor to severe. If you suspect your pet has been stung (or actually saw it happen) and starts to act unusually or show any of the following symptoms, please contact us immediately: Lameness/limping Tenderness or pawing around the area Whining and restlessness Acute swelling (facial swelling or around the stinger site) Hives or scratching around the stinger site Drooling Difficulty breathing We are always here if you need us #ivanhoevetclinic #vetsofivanhoe #vetlife #vetclinic #summer #beesting #dogsofinstagram #catsofinstagram

20.01.2022 The lovely & extremely happy, Russell was at the clinic today for surgery, including a dental clean & scale of his teeth. Did you that over 80% of dogs have some form of dental disease. Nurses perform free dental consultations all year round, so please don't hesitate to contact the clinic if you think your furry family member may need some dental attention. #dogsofinstagram #dogdentalhealth #dogsofaustralia #labradoodlesofinstagram

15.01.2022 Harry & Grace Handsome Harry is in for his 16wk and final puppy vaccination. He came in with his Georgous sister Grace, who is fully vaccinated. The common practice is that your puppy can socialise with fully vaccinated dogs of your family or friends, a week after their second puppy vaccination! ... Unfortunately this does not mean in the park, although they can be walked on lead around the block on concrete OR socialise in your backyard or the backyard of a friend or family member #dogsofinstagram #puppiesofinstagram #labradorsofinstagram #ivanhoevetclinic

05.01.2022 Did you know that are able to perform on-site digital x-rays at IVC? Having this available for our clients and patients allows for us to take images of various aspects of a pet's body (whether it be their chest, abdomen, joints, etc) to detect any changes or abnormalities. Pictured here is an xray image we took of a dog's abdomen. As you can see, there is a white circle in the center of the dog's spine...this is actually a glass shell stone from her owners bathroom soap hold...er! This needed to be surgically removed but did provide for an interesting image! #ivanhoevetclinic #xrays #dogsofinstagram #funfactsfriday #ivanhoe #vetlife
