24.01.2022 B R E A S T F E E D I N G // Our beautiful founder Kat recently posted a video expressing her own challenges with breastfeeding, and like most topics surrounding motherhood and parenting...it received quite the mixed response! . We know that breastfeeding has incredible benefits for both mum and bub, but in some cases for a variety of reasons - it just isn't possible. And interestingly, in our experience - feeding is one thing women are quite surprised to le...arn does not come as easily and naturally as they expected. . For those who have been through the breastfeeding journey, what is something you WISHED someone had told you/educated you about? . 24.01.2022 I V R . T E A M // It's been a minute since we put one of our team members in the spotlight (busy busy with pandemics, growing humans and the like). So we have a few very clever, hand picked, best of the best kinda gals, to introduce and welcome to the Ivoryrose fam! . Meet Kirsty. Kirsty joined our team not so long ago and has been a glorious piece of the Ivoryrose team we never knew we needed. Bringing with her over SEVEN years of experience in the areas o...f musculoskeletal and neurological physiotherapy she's also a mum, really lovely & good with a camera (humble brags). . Experienced in a whole heap of areas, it's women's health that Kristy really proves her weight in gold. A whiz for common pregnancy gripes such as pelvic girdle pain, neck & lower back pain... She is also really great at all the things on the other side of birth. Post natal checks (yes we all need those), mastitis, abdominal separation, prolapse, pelvic floor rehabilitation.. the list goes on. . If you're pregnant or you've just had a baby, Kirsty is the person you want on your team. A wealth of knowledge & experience, she is also incredibly kind and empathetic to boot. . Mostly? This is because Kristy is incredibly passionate about her work and just an all round excellent human, but also it was her own journey of motherhood that took her understanding to a whole other level. Experiencing first hand all the wonderful things a women’s body is capable of during pregnancy and birth, it also highlighted to her the very real need for women to gain access to the right knowledge & support at this time. . So Kristy is on a mission to BE that support. By staying at the forefront of knowledge, sharing what she knows and of course - giving exceptional care to all the women she sees. Not a bad goal hey? Welcome Kristy! You are an invaluable addition to our team & we are so thankful to have you! See more

22.01.2022 We are the girls with anxiety disorders, filled appointment books, five-year plans. We take ourselves very, very seriously. We are the peacemakers, the do-gooders, the givers, the savers. WE are on time, overly prepared, well read, and witty, intellectually curious, always moving We pride ourselves on getting as little sleep as possible and thrive on self-deprivation. We drink coffee, a lot of it. We are on birth control, Prozac, and multivitaminsWe are relentless, judgeme...ntal with ourselves and forgiving to others. We never want to be as passive-aggressive as our mothers, never want to marry men as uninspired as our fathersWe are the daughters of the feminists who said: You can be anything and we heard, You have to be everything ~ Courtney Martin . "and then slowly we grew into the women who connect with our truth and our bodies. We began to nourish ourselves, we walk bare foot and we rest when we need to. We are healing, powerful and fulfilled. We practise self compassion. We are no longer hiding our messy, sensitive, wild selves. We walk away from toxic people, we feel our feelings and we have personal boundaries. We allow our souls to experience joy and our bodies to feel pleasure. We go to therapy and learn that our parents did the best they could with what they knew. WE drink water and date individuals that are healthy for our hearts. We challenged the engrained core beliefs which said You have to be everything and gently rebelled by listening to our feminine energy which replied You are worthy exactly as we are. You are enough ~ Rachel Hobbs The last passage of words written by @rachelannehobbs in response to the first. A very relatable quote by Courtney Martin, both women speak to the plight of the Millennial woman. See more

22.01.2022 R E L A X I N + L A X I T Y // Ahhh Relaxin. A very normal & useful pregnancy hormone that causes some very pesky aches & pains. Or, so we thought! . Up until recently, it was believed that 'rising levels' of Relaxin in the body played a huge role in causing pain in & around the pelvis during pregnancy. But recent studies have shown us that the link between pregnancy pain & Relaxin are actually quite low. . Although there is a possible li...nk between the way our muscles work to control the pelvis, experiencing pain & a change in "laxity" of the joints (which is to accommodate growing bub & prepare for childbirth), studies reveal it is more likely to be caused by a rising level of Estrogen (particularly in the 3rd trimester) & it's effect on collagen - not Relaxin! . Even more crazy & clever, there is also data to suggest that post birth - as breastfeeding begins, our estrogen levels plummet & this drop may actually assist in returning ligament laxity to their baseline stiffness. It has been suggested this could be why postnatally, we see many cases of pelvis pain spontaneously resolve . We are the first to admit, there is no novice "Physio test" that can differentiate mobility levels within your pelvis, but there are many things we CAN do to improve your pain & manage your symptoms. . 1. It's important to maintain strength & control in a safe way, so connecting with a Women's Health Physio to assist with this is numero uno. 2. Do this early! As your pregnancy progresses, your estrogen levels will rise so as soon as you feel the pain, get in touch with your Physio to stay on top of your symptoms. . We are huge advocates for having a Women's Health Physio on your pregnancy team as early as possible for this & many other reasons! What other health modalities do you swear by during pregnancy? 22.01.2022 T H A N K . Y O U // Firstly, we couldn't be more grateful for the overwhelming response to our survey last week. We value your voice as a community highly and we were blown away by the considered, thoughtful ideas and suggestions from so many. . After listening to your feedback, going forward everyone will now have 2 hours to respond to a waitlist notification. Due to class restrictions and our smaller space, demand for classes is still at an all time high,... (which anyone who has tried to book a class recently would have noticed ) SO, we want to ensure everyone gets fair and equal access. . Most felt that 2 hours is a reasonable allowance of time to respond, so to ensure we keep the process running smoothly, if we don't hear from you within 2 hours, the spot will be offered to the next person on the list. . We completely understand that evenings are a sacred time, and if you're not child wrangling you are indulging in some very well deserved Netflix ...For that reason, if you do receive the notification between 9pm-8am - we will give you 2 hours grace from 8am to respond. . Thank you again for your feedback & support. It's so important for us to build a business and community that hears and addresses your needs, and we can assure you that we will be working hard to implement your ideas and suggestions going forward Love Kat & the IvR Team xx . #physiotherapy #womensphysiotherapy #womenshealth #pilates #womenshealthphysio #pelvicfloor #corestrength #fitmum #pregnancyworkout #fitpregnancy #reformer See more

21.01.2022 Lets talk about the elephant in the post-natal-health-care-room. And it's a BIG one. Over 9 months of pregnancy, expecting mamas are treated with reverence & care. Doors are opened, bags are carried & strangers smile. Expecting mothers are seen at least 12 times: once a month until 30 wks, once a fortnight until 36 wks & then once a week from 37 wks until birth. But what happens postpartum? . Ask & any mama will tell you - the first 6 wks zip by in a foggy ...blur of stitches, leaky boobs, bottles, breast pumps, broken sleep & a body trying hard to heal despite a heady exhaustion that seeps through to her very bones. The emotional & physical changes to her body, mind & soul are enormous! And yet? She is seen just once after giving birth. You read right. 1 x time, at her 6 week check up. . From the minute she gives birth, the focus is shifted & set squarely on baby & rightly so. Bubs will be seen 6 or more times, brought diligently to each appointment by their very tired but very full of love, new mother. But what about that mother? . Whilst there are wonderful resources out there, such as our friends at @thegoldenmonth & education around postnatal depletion by @droscarserrallach, beyond our own means, the current routine system is limited in support for the recovery of new mothers. . Post natal care needs to include a wider range of modalities to support ALL changes. Clinical psychologists for mental health, women's health physiotherapists for the physiological changes to her anatomy PLUS naturopaths & nutritionists to promote healing & support nutrient depletion from growing & birthing..oh..just AN ENTIRE HUMAN. . We want this to change. And like anything, starting a dialogue & acknowledging the gap is the first step. After labor, we are thrust into motherhood so fast, there isn't even a second spared to process her birthing experience. So we ask, what services would have supported your recovery post natally? And what changes would you like to see? . Image // malin.alia See more

20.01.2022 Sending love to all of our community this afternoon While we wait out further instructions about physiotherapy as an essential service, we ask that you please be patient as we get our communications in order . Each session has been consciously d...esigned by our physiotherapists with fun, simplicity and effectiveness in mind and with over 40+ to choose from - we really do have something to suit every woman regardless of where she is in her journey. The best bit, you can do them in between naps and zoom meetings . We will be posting an update shortly about how the new restrictions effect The Clinic, so until then - deep breaths! 20.01.2022 Back pain is an occupational hazard when breastfeeding &/or lugging around a very heavy toddler who prefers a particular side and has 47,000 plastic toys that magically scatter all over the floor multiple times a day. Lower back, upper back, shoulder, neck...Aaaaall the aches coupled with a task list that never runs out? It's a lot. . We talk a bunch about pelvic floor health and all the other bits that happen on each side of pregnancy, but did you know we a...re also excellent at helping treat back, neck, shoulder and many other pesky aches and pains? Irrespective of whether their cause is due to a small human or an old sports injury rearing it's ugly head...we treat all kinds of general physio qualms. . We get it. Everyone is busy. And it’s often much easier to just accept that weird twinge and pop a Panadol than actually address the problem. But truly ladies, you do not, and SHOULD not have to live with pain. You deserve a better quality of life and there are many modalities that can help you get it, including physiotherapy. . So if you are sick of having to rotate your entire body to look to your left, consider this the sign you have been waiting for to book yourself that appointment! . . . #womenshealth #womenshealthphysiotherapy #pelvicfloor #adelaidephysiotherapy #adelaidephysio #neckpain #backpain #womensupportingwomen #womensphysioadelaide #fitpregnancy #pregnancyfitness #fitmum #selfcare #selflove #womenhelpingwomen #sabusiness #brandsa #southaustralia #womenhealth #adelaidemums #physiotherapy See more

17.01.2022 H Y D R A T I O N // As the weather cools, we are less likely to drink as much so it can be harder to get our recommended intake of daily water - but did you know that the general blanket advice isn't for every body? . It's important to note that you should always drink for your body type, (interesting side note: women we commonly see with bladder issues are usually OVER drinking), aiming for 1.5-2 litres of filtered water each day. There is a way t...o calculate this and here's how: . Drinking herbal tea or warm water, adding fresh berries or a wedge of ginger or lemon makes your H20 work doubly hard - giving you a hit of Vitamin C to assist your digestive system + boost your immunity as we head into Winter And we could all do with a little boost, especially when we are surrounded by small snotty humans. 16.01.2022 S T R E T C H I N G // There are loads of benefits when it comes to stretching: circulation, improves recovery & prevents injury (thanks year 8 P.E). A healthy habit that really pays off, here are a few lesser known perks of the humble stretch: . 1. You'll get more from your workout. Flexibility training is something most people put on the back burner when it comes to fitness, but the reality is stretching allows you to have a better range of motion & mobili...ty. Better range of motion = you can lunge lower & jump higher, which translates to more effective workouts . 2. Different stretches have different benefits. Dynamic stretching or range-of-motion exercises are recommended before a workout to increase body temperature & increase joint flexibility. These include shoulder shrugs, wrist bends & knee liftsanything that keeps your muscles & joints moving through (you guessed it!) their full range of motion. While static stretches (stretch and holds) are better at the end of a workout for a cool-down. . 4. You will stress less. Is your back in knots? Stretching can help tame tension both physically & mentally as it relieves tight muscles while tricking you into feeling more relaxed. Of course, it’s important not to over do it, this is especially important if you're wound tight. Stretching should never feel painful so if you feel a twinge, you’re doing it wrong. . 4. And lastly, it’s better than an afternoon latte. If you are a chronic sufferer of 3pm-itis, a stretch will re-invigorate you quicker than it takes to order a cup of coffee. Just a few minutes of stretching works quickly to increase the blood flow through your entire body, including your brain - which in turn brings bright eyes back and helps you feel less sluggish. . Lets be real, child’s pose is everyones fave in The Studio. But next time you’re short on time & tempted to skip the stretch? Refer to the above See more

14.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE You will all be aware that from midnight tonight, Wednesday Nov 18th, SA Government has announced a state-wide 6 day lockdown to 'stay ahead' of a growing COVID-19 outbreak threatening the state. We are told these extreme restrictions will last for 6 days and be followed by a further 8 days of reduced restrictions. Allied health services including Physiotherapy services in Private Practice are not exempt from the 6 day lockdown, so will be closing our doors.... It is our hope that by putting in place strict conditions now, we will be able to return to the clinic mid next week, Wednesday 25th November or as directed by SA Government. If you have an appointment booked within the next 6 days, our team is in the process of phoning you to reschedule. We ask that you please be patient as we work through our list. Whilst the clinic is closed, our Clinic Manager Bridie will remain available to take calls and bookings for future appointments. We will also have our Physiotherapists available to offer over the phone advice should you run into any nasty emergencies- cue mastitis , which we know always manage to creep their way in when we least expect it! Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you on the other side and will update you with further information regarding our reopening as soon as we know more. Stay healthy and take care of those around you Kat & the Ivoryrose team x

The Studio is open again (yay!) but with restrictions still in place, we have noticed there are a few kinks we need help ironing out which is why we are turning to YOU, our excellent community. . 12.01.2022 B R E A T H // If you have ever attended a class at The Studio, you'd know that we are big on the proper use of breath to support your workout. Here's why the way you breathe matters! . Each time you inhale, you take in oxygen something your body needs to function. The more that you move, the more oxygen you need. Think of oxygen as a sort of fuel for your muscles. In order for you to do anythingtalk, walk, exerciseyou need to get oxygen to your muscles. S...o the more activity you do, the more oxygen your body needs. And the more efficiently you can deliver said oxygen to your muscles, the harder and more efficiently you can work, which leads to better results . Proper breathing should be one of your main focuses during exercise as it can help you lift heavier; squat deeper and give you more muscular endurance in cardio-centric activities which prevents fatigue for longer. So what is proper breathing? Something called Diaphragmatic breathing is your best bet when working out. . Your diaphragm is a muscle located between your thoracic cavity (chest) and abdominal cavity, and it should be the main workhorse that powers your breathing. This specific type of breathing, which engages the diaphragm muscle with every breath, involves slowly breathing in through the nose or mouth (preferably the nose), filling up your abdominal area (versus your chest) with air, and then slowly exhaling as the stomach collapses. . Longer, deeper breaths like this can help with core activation and help you better access your range of motion. If you’re not breathing, your body will lock up tension so an elongated breathing pattern can do just the opposite: release tension and help you better move through your full range of motion. . Next time you're in The Studio, ask one of our instructors to give you a run down on how to access your best breathing technique and get the most out of your workout! See more

11.01.2022 M A S T I T I S // No mamma wants to hear she has the dreaded M word. It's painful & a big fat inconvenience (really, who has time for sore boobs & a fever in those hazy first days)? But at around 20% of women experiencing #mastitis within the 1st 6 weeks, it's quite common. . A condition that can occur either as a result of a blocked milk duct or from engorgement, Mastitis is often a result of tight clothing, changes to feeding style, missed feeds & pressur...e on the breasts. It isn’t always preventable BUT it can be treated if you catch the symptoms & warning signs early! Some of these include: . - Shivers + aches, appearing like early onset flu symptoms. - Sore, red, swollen, hot or painful breasts. - Shiny or red streaks on the skin of surrounding breast tissue. - A sense of unease & illness, or feeling off. . Okay so symptoms have kicked in, now what? Firstly: turn to a trusted medical professional. If you have a pre or #postnatal #physiotherapist on board, then check in with them. Early intervention can make or break your recovery. Once officially diagnosed with mastitis, next it's important to identify if an infection is present. Often the 1st treatment protocol is antibiotics, but not all cases are infective & if not, drugs may be unnecessary & invasive. . A lesser known but more natural, holistic approach to treating Mastitis - is therapeutic ultrasound & massage to clear breast inflammation, performed by a physiotherapist. We have an excellent blog post about this on our website (link in our bio). . At The Clinic, we consider Mastitis as our ‘medical emergency’ and treat it accordingly. Working quickly to reshuffle patients, opening weekend appointments to get you in fast & on the road to recovery Had the dreaded M? What do you wish you knew before? . 11.01.2022 We talk about seasons a lot here at Ivoryrose. For us, it's a good reminder that when days or moments feel particularly hard or never ending, that things will inevitable change. . Often, we never see those endings or inflection points when one season runs into the next. Mostly, they pass by completely unnoticed. And it's not until you find yourself laying in bed at 11pm, (exhausted from the days endless meditations, mitigations and negotiations...) scrolling... through photos of the very same tiny humans you were likely eager to dispose of that night.. that you see. . They stand a little taller. Their face is a little less round, they reach for your hand a little less and the 45 lisps are now only reserved for words like 'ambulance' (and we know a few adults that still struggle with that one). . An article published in @theageaustralia written by @susancarland poetically described this feeling as 'The Lost Lasts'. If you have had a tough minute, hour or day with your smalls we have popped the link in our bio for you to have a read, and to remind you to gently with yourself today and every day.. 11.01.2022 "The most difficult part of birth is the first year afterwards. It is the year of travail - when the soul of a woman must birth the mother inside her. The emotional labour pains of becoming a mother are far greater than the physical pangs of birth; these are the growing surges of your heart as it pushes out selfishness and fear and makes room for sacrifice and love. It is a private and silent birth of the soul, but it is no less holy than the event of childbirth, perhaps it i...s even more sacred." - Words from an unknown source We believe, the postpartum period is an incredible chapter of renewal and introspection. After close to an entire year of growing, building and birthing, a woman's body transitions into a tender yet powerful stage of becoming. A physical, emotional and energetic period of transformation where we need to honor the space and time to heal, nourish and perhaps most importantly bond, with our babies. We believe it's an incredible honor to support women during this period. Whilst we love supporting ALL women, it's in this space, that we truly shine because we know - her experience and recovery, really has the potential to cultivate a fullness and awareness that will ultimately impact the foundation for all motherhood. And what a magic privilege it is, to play a small part in that! 09.01.2022 Is it just us, or has there been a baby boom this year? We have seen SO many brand new small humans come into the world recently (including a few additions to our own Ivoryrose fam), so we thought it was as good a time as ever to remind all the beautiful, new mammas about our Intro offer. . We get that time is incredibly precious for the women we see. Juggling feeding schedules, nap routines..cranky babes...It's ALOT. So we understand every minute you gift y...ourself at one of our classes is valued down to the second. For some women, it might be the only chance to move in a week. Which is why we keep our classes so small. . We employ 1 trainer for every 2 - 4 women. We do this intentionally, to ensure the girls can focus squarely on you. Each class, you will get a tailored approach unique to where YOU are at. It is truly the closest thing to having a personal trainer and this is especially important for our post natal ladies to ensure a strong but gentle workout for their recovering bodies. . Each trainer will guide you through movements, making small adjustments to your posture and technique to ensure you get the absolute maximum from each minute. And we are pretty sure every one of our regulars can tell you just how much these teensy corrections can increase the burn..right ladies? . If you have been thinking of checking out The Studio or giving our classes a go, we have an offer just for you. With a discount of over 45% the full price (which can also be claimable on private health insurance) it's a no brainer. . Hop on over to our website and take a look. 09.01.2022 Masks & QR code’s upon entry, now mandatory. Following the recent update from SA Health regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, single use surgical masks must now be worn by anyone entering a healthcare facility (including patients, family of patients, healthcare staff, admin staff, contractors, cleaners etc). Cloth masks ARE NOT allowed to be worn by anyone. If you have access to bringing in your own surgical mask (many stores are now selling boxes of these to the public at quite... affordable prices) then please bring one in with you for your appointment. If you do not have access to a mask then we will provide you one in reception. At this stage, we are not required to use masks in the studio as this is considered a gym space, which does not fall within the SA health criteria. In saying that, if you feel more comfortable wearing a mask then you are of course more than welcome to do so. In other news, in an effort to improve our contact tracing, the SA Government have now implemented compulsory QR code scanning upon entry into a health facility. We ask that you follow these requirements when entering both the studio and the clinic. Staff will be happy to assist you if you require any help. Please support our staff and business by adhering to these new guidelines that have been put in place by SA health. We thank you in advance for your ongoing support during this challenging time.

08.01.2022 Abdominal separation // A very normal, physiological part of pregnancy also known as diastasis recti or separated abs - abdominal separation usually appears in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy. Every woman will have some degree of separation before they give birth..it's another magical way your clever body makes room for bub Here are some other useful things to know: . Strengthening our abs/core in the right way is important throughout pregnancy, but doing s...it ups til the cows come home is probably a bad idea. In short, we need to start from the inside out and avoid any unnecessary increase in abdominal pressure which may create a wider gap. Strengthening your pelvic floor can assist you in engaging important muscles such as your transversus abdominis. So make sure you have some gentle pelvic floor exercises in your toolkit . Statistically speaking, if you don’t exercise at all during pregnancy, you’re more likely to develop the condition and it’s likely to be more pronounced. So, in case you needed more, this is another excellent reason to keep up moderate exercise whilst you’re growing your small human. . Another helpful tip is to wear a compression garment to support your abdominal muscles during pregnancy & for the first 6 weeks post birth. There are loads of great products on the market and (shameless plug), you can get your hands on our faves in The Clinic . Next, try to avoid high loads through the abdominal area which can happen when straining on the toilet or doing the wrong exercises for your recovery which can cause a doming look in your tummy. It’s not all about width when it comes to your separation. Equally, it’s about the depth of the gap & how well your core functions overall. . It's always a good idea to get checked if you're concerned, but what are you most worried about when it comes to abdominal separation & would would you like to know more about See more

07.01.2022 This past week was #worldbreastfeedingweek and like so many parts of the motherhood puzzle, it’s an incredibly personal piece. When it works, it’s a new love language, a magical symbiosis.. an exchange of sleepy gazes and milky breath in a small, private universe . But it’s also hard. And it’s lonely. It’s pure joy. And excruciating pain. It’s a deep sense of peace. Cracked nipples. The torturous drone of the pump. It’s a flood of oxytocin. Of love. It’s a... heady exhaustion. And crying over spilt milk. Oh the spilt milk! (any woman who has diligently pumped for an hour only to knock over that precious 10mLs can attest to that). It’s physically, mentally and emotionally draining. It’s messy. It's beautiful. And it’s hard. . Breastfeeding is all the things. It’s a choice we make. And at times, a choice we don’t. We know that when it works, breastfeeding has truly magical health benefits for babies, and if it’s within a mother’s abilities and she is happy - it should be first choice. But, there is no one-size-fits-all and for some women, it can be riddled with challenges. So sometimes? It just doesn’t. And that is OKAY. . A happy mama is a well mama. And a well mama is the most vital piece of this puzzle. For that reason we stand behind #fedisbest always, so as this week draws to a close, we celebrate your choice. Whether you choose to breastfeed, exclusively pump, supplement with formula or bottle feed from the start. We know every mother is doing the very best, with what she has and what she knows. So lets celebrate that! We see you mamas and we think you’re doing just fine . 06.01.2022 W E L C O M E . B A C K // Well that was a wild ride guys. Again, we couldn't be more grateful to our government for their swift action & effort to protect our beloved SA, but we were VERY excited to throw open our doors this morning and welcome you all back! . The Studio is in full swing again, we suggest you hop on to book as spots are filling up quick. If you had an appointment cancelled at The Clinic last week, we ask that you give us a call on 0401569...209, or book yourself online as soon as possible. . We know that last week had everyone a little unnerved, for that reason, even though masks are not mandatory they are encouraged. Because many of our client's are expecting, we will continue to wear them ourselves in an effort to keep our community safe. And of course, strict hand hygiene and temperature checks will re-commence as per usual. . We are so looking forward to seeing you all back! 06.01.2022 COVID-19 Update // The health & safety of our community & staff is of utmost importance to us. It always has been. Although we have chosen to close The Studio doors for now, The Clinic will remain open! We are hopeful that this will be squashed quickly but in the mean time, we will continue to follow the 5 moments of hand hygiene & encourage everyone to do the same in an effort to curb the spread. . What we ask of our community is the following: 1.) If you're feeling unwel...l with cough / flu-like symptoms, or have been in contact with someone with symptoms, we ask you postpone your appointment. Stay home, self isolate & rest 2.) When you arrive, use hand sanitiser & again before your appointment 3.) Use a wipe to sanitise your phone / bag / anything you touch whilst waiting. 4.) Avoid touching your face unless you sanitise your hands before & after. We know this is tricky, but it is key to stopping the spread . We are monitoring the situation as it unfolds: keeping alert but not panicked, following the advice of the health authorities and Australian Physiotherapy Association. . For a detailed update and FAQs, please head to our website (link in bio). . Stay safe and healthy SA Love Kat and the IvR team XX

04.01.2022 Life is FULL of the surprises. This we know. Things pop up, plans fall through...or apart. We get it. And with most of the women we see navigating motherhood, that adds a whoooole other layer of unexpected right? . We know that most of our beautiful community take care and give us the required 24 hour notice of cancellation, and to those women - we thank you! You help us to work smoothly and give other women in need, an opportunity to access last minute appo...intments. We are grateful for you lady legends. . The reality is - we are a small, but busy clinic with a growing community, which also means - extensive wait lists to manage. Our physiotherapists are in high demand and appointment availability is limited. In the past, a few too many have known of our leniency around the request for 24 hours notice which has resulted in loss of time and access to other women. . It's for this reason, as of August 1st we will be enforcing our cancellation & non-attendance policy to ensure fairness & equal access to all. Of course we understand that at times serious circumstances can occur that are out of your control and exceptions will be made for these types of immediate emergencies, at the clinic’s discretion. But for the most part, we ask for you to make yourself familiar with our policies which are available on the website, to avoid any nasty fees (we've put a link in our profile for easy access). . It’s important for us to stress, that we reeeeally don’t want to charge these fees. What matters most to us, is supporting women so it’s our hope that we can all work together on this . As always, we appreciate your support and understanding and we look forward to seeing you in The Clinic Love Kat + The Ivr Team xx . #womenshealth #womenshealthphysiotherapy #pelvicfloor #adelaidephysiotherapy #adelaidephysio #womensupportingwomen #womensphysioadelaide See more

03.01.2022 P E R I N A T A L M E N T A L H E A L T H As this week closes out I wanted to take a quick moment to highlight Perinatal mental health week. It’s fitting as I write this post I pace around my kitchen with Teddie in the ergo (after close to an hour of screaming - can’t stop walking or he will wake up so please excuse any errors in typing). ... Did you know 1/5 women experience anxiety or depression throughout pregnancy or during the postnatal period? This can happen to anyone & sometimes, it can be hard to spot. Pregnancy is often considered a time of happiness as you grow a tiny human - But when the 24/7 nausea kicks in, constipation develops & hip pain starts to make you want to rip your legs off, it can be far from beautiful. Additionally, the anxiety around monitoring fetal movements & fear of loss can be overwhelming often leading to poor sleep, tears & 3am trips to the hospital. Fast forward to the birth - your body has done this incredible thing... you had a baby. But now you’re left feeling like a deflated balloon, tender all over, with leaky boobs & a new respect for anyone who has walked before you, (latching a tiny mouth to your not so tiny nipples *cue toe curl* ). Enter 4th trimester Some babies are wonderful sleepers, & some aren’t. 50% nature, 50% nurture they say - doesn’t stop you wondering what you did wrong to have a baby that’s broken. I know that sounds extreme, but for us, that’s how it felt. A baby with intolerances & a sore tummy means many long days/nights of pacing listening to your little one in pain. With sleep deprivation comes a new level of torture, & I now sport a sexy look in the bedroom consisting of noise cancelling headphones & pyjamas covered in vomit . The postnatal period is bloody hard & Instagram is full of happy moments, snapped between the tears because sometimes that’s the only way we can make it through. SO, let’s check in on each other & break the stigma surrounding perinatal mental health. You’re doing amazing mum & on days you feel like shit & they won’t stop crying, know that there a millions of other mums around shedding a tear beside you, & that’s ok too

01.01.2022 B R E A S T . C H E C K // Today is the FIRST of the month, so here is your gentle reminder to #feelitonthefirst . Being familiar with the look and feel of your breasts makes it easier to notice when any changes occur and it should be part of our practice each month to check for any lumps or bumps out of the ordinary. Our friends at @jeanhailes share some key steps and advice: . 1. Stand in front of a mirror with your hands on your hips an...d shoulders straight. Look at the shape, colour and size of your breasts and nipples. 2. Next, while still looking in the mirror, raise your arms in the air and look for the same things shape, colour and size of your breasts and nipples. 3. Feel your breasts while lying down with your arm bent at the elbow and resting above your head. Stretch your hands so your palms and fingers are flat like a plate this will allow you to feel without poking your breasts. 4. Make sure you feel the entire breast area from your collarbone to your tummy, and include your armpits. This will allow you to feel without poking your breasts. It is another helpful way to look for: * Lumps * Areas that are painful * Skin that is dimpled, flattened or different from before. . If you detect a new lump, don't panic as research shows 9 out of 10 lumps are not cancer. However you SHOULD see a doctor if you notice: * New lumps or lumpiness * Changes to the shape of your breast * Changes in the colour of your breast * Changes to the nipple * Discharge from the nipple * Puckering or dimpling of breast skin * Any persistent breast pain * Any persistent nipple or breast itching or rash . Early detection is the best line of defense against #breastcancer which is why it's a true an act of self care to make this a regular practice. So in the same way you make time to move your body - make sure you carve out some time today to look in the mirror and get to know your beautiful boobs! .
