09.01.2022 Despite the pride we should feel as a state the battle is about to get even more real for the entertainment and hospitality industries and those who make a living from it. Our venues are at half capacity, profits are almost nonexistent for many and what's worse; the tap of government support is about to be turned off. As well as that, all those home loan reprieves are about to cease. There isn't a level headed industry person who doesn't agree that public health and safety i...s the first and foremost priority. But when is enough, enough. When do we stop forgetting about sectors that have not seen the other side of this? We as a society, basically beat covid. We ended community transmission, not SA health, not Steven Marshall... the people of SA. Now, we exist with only one fear when it comes to this pandemic... The escape of this disease from hotel quarantine. We're not dumb, there is no perfect way to do this. Every decision is made to minimise risk while keeping the balance between public health and safety but also the recovery of our economy. The only risk to South Australians are the failings of government run hotel quarantine. That is quite simple. South Australia has no community transmission of Covid. No covid - Still restrictions Only potential of covid - Failure by SA Health and The SA Government. SA Health is literally banking on a stuff up on their own making. There are real people on the other end of this. Pre covid, we employed 7 people and weekly contracted 60. Soon, we'll employ 2 and weekly work with maybe...10 musicians, DJs and photographers. The gratefulness we feel from the bottom of our hearts for all of the clients that supported the music sector as much as they can, warms the cockles of our hearts. So thanks to you. But we can't last like this forever. Help us out SA Health, you don't need to be heart felt.. Just be headstrong.
