25.01.2022 Our club has decided to have a weekly afternoon cuppa and catch up. Today was our inaugural zoom cuppa and chat. Wish we could have shared around some of the tempting afternoon tea. Helen R's fruit cake came out of the oven while we were chatting. It was too hot to cut and share.

23.01.2022 Margarette Golding Award for Judith Turner The Inner Wheel Club of West Ashfield (District 22) are extremely proud of Judith Turner, our very first member to re...ceive the Margarette Golding Award. This was given in recognition of her 20 years fundraising for the Rainbows Hospice, her regular Friday's spent at Southwell Minster as a volunteer guide and her lifelong commitment to her Church and Community. Due to Coronavirus and lockdown we were wondering how to present the award to Judith, this was solved by Judith herself, offering her garden for an Afternoon Tea Fundraiser. So on a very hot Wednesday Afternoon (12th August) we met in Judith's garden and were joined by District Chairman Margaret Day (also a recipient of a Margarette Golding Award) and past District Chairman Anne Lyons. When DC Margaret presented the certificate to Judith, she was so shocked and actually speechless, which if you know Judith is something very rare. Past DC Anne presented Judith with the brooch. It was a very exciting, special and emotional time. A true Red Letter Day and one which everyone involved will remember for a very long time. Congratulations Judith from us all, you truly have a heart of gold. Judith has a heart of gold and it reaches out to family, friends and the wider community. She has been heavily involved with fund raising for her local Children’s Hospice called Rainbows. Based in Nottingham, it is the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people. They provide vital care and support to families impacted by life-limiting conditions. Not only has Judith made an astonishing array of jams and pickles to sell, she has sold their Christmas Cards and teddies. Until recently, she has been a regular visitor, giving her time as well as her talents. Judith is a regular volunteer at Southwell Minster. It is a working building, open 365 days per year. It welcomes many thousands of visitors annually, including pilgrims, tourists, families and school groups from across the country and overseas. Every Friday Judith can be found at the entrance of the Minster, in her blue gown and sporting her badge, ready to welcome them and is a fount of knowledge as she leads the tours and answers the many questions asked. Judith worships at her local Church, St. Peter's in Ravenshead and once again she is involved with all the fundraising. She has an administration role, putting together a complicated rota for all the roles needing to be fulfilled. On top of all this, she sings her heart out in the choir! At 82 years young, Judith will always be finding something more to do that will benefit so many people.

19.01.2022 We love days in the office when we get notification of a #SchoolBag distribution and what makes them even more exciting is when we’ve got them into a new countr...y - and today is one of those days! 240 SchoolBags have gone to Guinea Bissau, which is country number 46, and brings our total so far to 119,172 distributed SchoolBags! This is a project we’ve worked on with our partners, Humanity First International, and they’ve sent us this gorgeous video of some of the children receiving their SchoolBags A bit more info about the project: 185 SchoolBags were distributed to children in one day across schools/communities in the city of Bissau. The help of 70 local volunteers was used through the process of collection from port, load, unload, storage, and distribution day. The distribution was attended by local radio stations and journalist as well as representatives from the Ministry of Education who spoke very highly of the work. A LOT of work goes on to make a SchoolBag distribution happen, and we are eternally grateful from our donors right through to our partners and volunteers so ensure it all happens. If you’d like to fund a SchoolBag yourself, you can do so here: https://www.schoolinabag.org/product/fund-a-school-bag/ #SchoolBags #GuineaBissau #TransformingLivesThroughEducation

19.01.2022 Celebrating the Founder of Inner Wheel Margarette Golding, on Women Equality Day. A truly remarkable woman with great courage, foresight, intelligence & busines...s acumen. 19.01.2022 Inner Wheel Club of Berwick enjoyed coffee and cake at Pioneer Park. Lucy made a beautiful cake to celebrate our club’s 52nd birthday. Thank you Lucy for the amazing cake. Great weather and great company.

18.01.2022 Lyn, Kay and Helen C representing the Inner Wheel Club of Berwick, had the pleasure of handing over a cheque to Windermere manager Laura Swindley. The cheque for more than $1,300 is greatly appreciated as this year groceries are being purchased at cost to make hampers for those struggling in our community this Christmas.

18.01.2022 Last night Kay Moreland, Pat Edwards, Diana Nutter, Ann Kraan, Jan Penpraze,Helen Comport and Lyn Clissold had a busy night catering for the Berwick Rotary Club’s Bowls Night. Pat Edwards organised the food earlier in the day including peeled potatoes and pumpkin along with organising the cooked and sliced trays of roast beef from a local butcher. Tomatoes topped with breadcrumbs were also baked and the ladies added the gravy and peas on the night. The oven struggled to cook the vegetables, warm the meat and heat Pat’s delicious homemade apple crumbles whilst the commercial dishwasher was a great help as it washed the dishes in next to no time. it was lovely to hear that everyone enjoyed the meal.

18.01.2022 Today some of our members enjoyed our monthly morning Tea at Robert Gordon Pottery. A beautiful day, great company and a lovely venue.

16.01.2022 Member Anne McGill had a pleasant surprise when walking little Rosie through Wilson Botanic Gardens, and came across the "Gift of Friendship Rose" planted by the IWC's of Narre Warren, Berwick and Cranbourne, several years ago! Our "Gift" is looking fabulous in full bloom!

16.01.2022 To all our friends, have a beautiful day!

15.01.2022 Inner Wheel Club of Berwick enjoyed their Monthly meeting via zoom last Monday night. It was so lovely to see everyone's smiling faces. 22 members managed to connect via zoom. Our president Kay Moreland proposed some projects we can work on during lock down. These include 'Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs', making reusable masks for the Casey North Benevolent Group and a possible Spring Carnival Lunch - Fundraiser via zoom. Our guest speaker was our very own Anne Kraan who... took us on a virtual tour of Japan. We saw the famous blossom display, the reminders of the Hiroshima bomb, the cleanliness of the Japanese and how to order a meal from a picture when you cannot speak the language. After the close of our formal meeting some members shared very personal journeys they are on in their lives. It is so hard for us to grieve and reach out as we were accustomed to before the lockdown and the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 virus. Sending a huge hug to all that are going through challenging times. See more

15.01.2022 Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions, Carols has been cancelled for this year. It is very sad but after discussion with the City of Casey, we realized it just could not go ahead. We hope to see you all in 2021 with lots of Christmas cheer. Rotary Club of Berwick

13.01.2022 Never let us forget those who fought for our freedom. A different but special November 11th. Lest We Forget

13.01.2022 Did you know? Elias Howe was granted a patent on 10th of September, 1846 for an invention involving a curve eye-pointed needle carrying an upper thread and oper...ating in a horizontal plane in conjunction with a shuttle for the lower thread to form a lock stitch. Even though it is believed that the first workable sewing machine was invented and patented by the British inventor Thomas Saint in 1790. Today many Inner Wheel members have been busy using their sewing machines to assist with many IW projects including: Days For Girls, Dress A Girl, Making face masks for others and for Middlemore Foundation. Let's not forget the numerous Breast cancer silky pillows and handmade quilts for those in need. Many IW members are very talented indeed! So today we salute all the hours and dedicated service put in by so many talented women as you shared your skills on the sewing machine to help others. THANK YOU SEW MUCH! Please feel free to share your handywork below of some of the sewing projects you have done to help others as an IW member... #SoGrateful #Sewing #TalentedSewing #WomenInAction

13.01.2022 This year the Inner WheelClub of Berwick replaced their Oaks Day fundraiser with a zoom Fun Raiser. Those participating moved into different break out rooms for each course of their meal. It was very interesting sharing menus. When the group was all in one zoom meeting we enjoyed bingo using past years winners of the Melbourne Cup. The ladies wore their hats. Angela’s hat weighed her down with many roses from her garden. A lot of fun was enjoyed by all.

12.01.2022 More Bush Fire Appeal donations were given to the Bemm River community. The generosity from members worldwide were shown to this community. http://www.innerwheelaustralia.org.au/archives/5000

10.01.2022 On Monday 1st March the Inner Wheel Club of Berwick welcomed our District Chairman, Maria McEwen. As Maria likes pinks, purples and bling there was a lot of colour and bling around to celebrate Maria's visit. It was so interesting to hear Maria talk about her life and it inspired some Italian and French chatter. Thank you Maria for a most interesting talk. It was only the second club meeting that Maria has managed to attend in person, so we felt vey special.
