25.01.2022 And that's a fresh batch of little tees into @makinwhoopee.giftshop they still need an updated romper selection, but so does my market stall and everywhere else. Rompers will start appearing places soon!! However, for now. If you want a sweet little tee, you know where to go! (Or if you want any other amazing handmade gifts! They have so many beautiful things)
25.01.2022 Open!!!! Renegade handmade VIP night is a go! I'm so tired from the drive and now there are new highway places my kids have peed but I'm here and ready for a big weekend!!
23.01.2022 Today I should be doing @renegadehandmade but my little loving child has given me some sniffle child plague. I'm not dying or anything. But because I don't want anyone giving me covid shame, I am staying at home under blankets. I hope my townsville market friends have an amazing day! I am super sad I'm not there. But next time for sure!! Stay safe everyone!
22.01.2022 Good idea! Come to the showgrounds to the craft market! I've made as many new things as I can. Izbits has made so many scrunchies it's overflowed her tub and I even have some of my pottery!
22.01.2022 Iced vovos are my favourite biscuits. They have always had a soft spot in my heart and now they can have a soft spot in your tiny person wardrobe!
21.01.2022 Did you know I have a Facebook VIP group? I try to post in it for custom orders, random sales and when I clean out izbits clothes. Last year was a wild time and I used it nearly never (after telling myself I would use it lots and be a good business person) But, iz needs new clothes as all the lady lot of Japan clothes no longer fit! So if you would like to grab some lightly used cuteness that got worn for like, three weeks in Japan and then hated, This is the group ... https://www.facebook.com/groups/571173443047127/?ref=share See more
20.01.2022 Everyone "iron all the items before you take photos" me "fuck yes! These are cute! I should take a photo asap" Also, summer kills my lust for ironing. It's a thin shell at the best of times. But summer just makes me hate anything that adds extra heat to our house. (We have no AC) Anyway, this is 2/3 of a super cute custom order I'm hoping to finish today and post out Monday! There is zero chance of anything getting to people before Christmas. But my custom orders are open, I have photos of my fabric shelves I can send. You have till March, when markets start up and I realise I have no new stock
20.01.2022 Monday! I'm trying to get back into doing my uni work while also trying to get to the sewing machine, keep getting pottery inspo and also being a parent. Today I learnt that moss and ferns are amphibians! In that they have sperm that needs water to swim towards the egg. Makes me appreciate all the random ferns I've got growing around my yard a bit more, that's for sure.
18.01.2022 The other day I learnt "cottagecore" was a thing and I'm so into it it's not funny. I did a post about my trip to Townsville and how amazing it was, but it just refused to load. So I guess I didn't thank everyone enough or something. But my townsville weekend was amazing. I find my @renegadehandmade family so very cup filling. They are all so lovely, supportive and welcoming. The customers are as lovely and will often pull me aside just to compliment my work. It's so good fo...r my soul. I can't believe it's been almost a full year since I was there last! My website needs work, but today I am going to try spin the last of this wool. Then work out a design for a little pottery wool bowl. I hate hustle culture with a passion and I'm going to fight it so hard. I'm embracing cottagecore. Possibly a bad business model, but I've never been good at pushing my business anyway. Stay safe
18.01.2022 I've been so busy making masks. Thank you to everyone who ordered! I've recovered from my stressed out fight/flight and today I'm posting out everything I've finished then spending the day learning about flowers for my uni course. Most flowers are bisexual, and herb seeds are technically the fruit!!
18.01.2022 This is cotton. Cotton we grew. We picked by hand (and the kids check out every day) and the kids helped pull out the seeds and card (brush) I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. I have no idea if there actually is anything i can do with it. But I wanted to see if I could. So today in going to spin the cotton I have ready, seed and card the stuff the kids have picked and then continue to have no idea what I'm going to do with it.
17.01.2022 Monday! The start of my work week now I'm still not doing markets. But also the day I set aside for study! Did you know the pressure it takes a tree to suck water to the top should make the water boil? But because it's a sealed vacuum it doesn't! I'm still plowing through mask orders and trying to build up stock! I put my name down for @renegadehandmade this coming weekend so hopefully that gives me the market kick up the bum I need! (Also hopefully Qld keeps everything under control. My poor poor Victorian friends and family going back into lockdown ) Stay safe everyone!!
17.01.2022 Phase three of testing this new pattern. I think I'm up to the nit picking stage. Which is probably the one I hate the most. So close. But still so many tiny things. Anyway, I need a small person to put into this hopefully this week if anyone is free with a two year old. Hit me up!
16.01.2022 I am a terrible consumer, which makes me terrible at running my business. No one needs the pressure of being sold shit all day every day. Covid has put so much into perspective for so many people, and I'm loving this weird direction I'm going. However, if anyone has any ideas I can use all this cotton for.... (Though I'm going to have a go at weaving up my own fabric, cause.... Fuck, why not) These two little ceramic dishes are ones I made! The berry bowl has so far been th...e biggest success... The kids love it so much. It's seen non stop action since it came home. The blue bowl, thing I've just had sitting around doing nothing and I guess it's found its life as my fluff pot for all my uncarded cotton See more
15.01.2022 I might be sniffling from whatever plague my kid gave me, but I'm crying from how cute this is. I've had so many amazing cute custom orders and I've loved every single one of them!! @perfect_family_of8
15.01.2022 I feel this every time my son asks for something to be made for him that isn't "boyish" I feel this every time I make my daughter a dress using dinosaur fabric. Clothing has two jobs. Keep us warm Cover our privates. As a bonus it can show off our personality and give us unique character.... Clothing should always be fun, especially for kids. There are no "boys clothes." There are no "girls clothes" only clothes. (Oh god I hope I've tagged the right artist. @liberaljane )
15.01.2022 I've had so much fun doing pottery and I'm so so happy to have this crazy little Collab going. Bec is an amazing human and my house always smells so lovely thanks to her candles. What she has done with these make me smile so hard. So organic. So beautiful @bluebirdcandles Little bit of an organic collab I think it’s my only collab for 2020... and I’m so grateful it was with Siv from @izbitsworld ... Sivonne is super talented, has a heart of gold, and we may or may not be planning to move to Mena Creek to live in self sustainable commune where we can swim in the rainforest and let our kids eat veggies covered in dirt, run wild amongst chickens and alpacas and random kids that follow them home. It’s going to be great. Siv has made me some delicious pottery gems (there were dice involved) and I’ve filled them with organic lemongrass essential oil candles - made with soy wax and cotton wicks. 1000% organic candles.
14.01.2022 My son saw me getting the mask stuff out and has begged for a new mask for himself. So thank you @ashleighjaneart for this super amazing fabric! Now to sneak in a mask for him (and to test my kids pattern that I tweaked around) then watch his little eyes light up. . . I will also have to make one to match him for when we make bath bombs and stuff. Can't do crafts in unmatching masks. The horror!!
14.01.2022 Expanding the size of my undies in the morning sun. My sewing room gets lovely morning sun and watching the lace patterns come through while I'm working gives me a weird joy. All this iso business has made me rethink so much, and after I finish in the garden in the morning I come in here and do some work. Simple wholesome stuff. I never realised how toxic the hustle culture was. The demand on myself to always be making, growing my business, trying to sell sell sell. Consumerism isn't me. And hustle culture really isn't either. I love my business, I love all my customers, I love the support I get that allows me to feed my family. But I'm kicking the hustle and going back to a slow sustainable pace.
14.01.2022 For everyone who is new and wasn't around in Dec/Jan (or just missed my wild ride) my family is all in Victoria! I am in beautiful Cairns, enjoying the "winter" typically every few years we bribe friends/family to come to Japan and meet us for food, fun and amazing adventures. October was going to be the next time. But covid said no dice. Which is fine, we can go to Vic to see them. Again, no dice. So, my heart is with all my friends and family down there. Masks are on my sewing machine. While these are aimed at keeping my loved ones safe, if you also want to be wearing some weird izbits style across your face, slide on into my dms, and I can add you to the list of people I stress about. Stay safe, be kind to each other.
13.01.2022 It took me so long too get my mask working with these glasses. Then I took it off to sneak eat @cupkates21 But I'm at tanks market today. I have masks plus all my other cute things.
13.01.2022 For anyone playing along at home, I've taken up pottery to chill away from sewing. I also made a glaze and the mixture of creativity and science is very much my jam. This is one I am super proud of. So am totally showing it off
12.01.2022 Nothing like doing zero marketing for events and things But today I am in Townsville doing @renegadehandmade market!!!
12.01.2022 Another year done! A huge massive thank you to Townsville for making me welcome once again. @renegadehandmade is such a welcoming market. I've mentally penned in the first market back next year! So see you all in March, and if you have any tiny people clothing needs, the gift shop have you sorted!!! And of course, there biggest thank you to @rhicreations_by_rhi and @ashleighjaneart for being the best market buddies a girl could ask for. I'm sure we have more mega photos, but I couldn't find them on my phone. I love you two and I can't wait to take many more photos with you both!!
11.01.2022 And today we leave Townsville. It was an amazing weekend. I have loved it so much. I quickly restocked @renegadehandmade before we left and it's possibly the biggest restock I've ever done in the shop. I tried to pay attention to what customers wanted and left things like the little bummie shorts that people loved. See you next year Townsville!
10.01.2022 Trying to clean up my sewing space and sew my benches clean. I have a habit of cutting out 50 of one item, sewing most of them, needing a break and then just forgetting about things. These are the piles I'm sewing up. The poor forgotten items. I'm also up to stage three of my new pattern design. I usually do about 5 to make sure all the bugs are worked out before I offer them to the general public. These ones will be boy friendly. For the little lads (or lasses. Any time I try sew "boy" stuff the girls snatch it up. So get ready for a whole boatload of dinosaurs and rad shit)
10.01.2022 It's a new year! Some lessons I'm going to bring with me from the dumpster fire that was 2020. Family time is always time well spent Picking up a new hobby to try makes the kids also try new things. I am more than happy spending a month trapped in my house with my family. (Though I think several months would have pushed me) Gardening with kids ends in too many eggplants ... I'm not making big plans or anything for this year. My goals are To save and purchase a sausage dog. Design more of my own fabric again. Expand our garden and be more self sufficient with what we eat. Be mindful of everything we do as a family and how it works in the bigger picture. Try further reduce my waste (both home and business) Have a happy new year everyone!
09.01.2022 I actually added ice dye rompers. Who even am I? They are $35 with free shipping if you are local to Cairns. I have this single pink, a few purple, a couple of blue and two of the pink/blue combos. Only smaller sizes at the moment, but I have time so I guess I'll be making more. #handmadeinaustralia #babyclothes #pinkaesthetic #handmadeclothing
09.01.2022 Omg look at my little pot! I was going to take a photo of rompers I've made ready for my next market, but they all need snaps and the week will get ahead of me, but SATURDAY 20TH I'll be joining @bluebirdcandles down at Innisfail for the INNISFAIL MARKETS! I'm so excited to be able to share time with her down in her hood. (So excited you all get my caps lock screaming) I will have all my usual cute baby clothes, new ones I've been sewing up and a whole stack of pottery! You can buy pots for plants, for Bec to put candles in (which is what will happen with my mushroom pot here) so excited. If you live in Innisfail, or close by spread the word.
09.01.2022 Today when I had a quiet break I went through all the skirts and tagged anything ready to be delivered to @makinwhoopee.giftshop through the week. I found this that my occasional market helper/stall cat has done and hidden away. After today I feel it's an adequate description of me. It was hot, I gave many hugs, it was so hot when I packed up. Today was an amazing day and as always, I'm so full of love. Thank you everyone who came and checked out my stall. It was amazing and I'm overwhelmed by the love.
09.01.2022 I know, two posts in two days. What is this madness. But my little pattern experiment is coming to a semi close and I think I'm at the final version (at least for now) so I'm sewing up these little ice dye shorts I found all cut out ready, sewing up a few orders and starting on my market stock update. I also have a @makinwhoopee.giftshop restock penned in for Friday, so a whole batch of new tops will hit the shop soon!!!
09.01.2022 I have this exact face when I get a good cookie. I don't have any more of this fabric with me at the moment, but it was one of the best colabs with @rhicreations_by_rhi Huge thank you to @perfect_family_of6 for supplying the adorable photo. I'm dead.
06.01.2022 My next market is in Townsville!!! Renegade handmade, plus there is a VIP night Friday night. I'm so pumped. I'm hoping to have some circle skirts done for it.
06.01.2022 Miss izbits is the head scrunchie maker here. She cuts, sews (most parts. I finish them with the top stitch and the elastic to make sure it's sewn down enough) and has made a cute little sign for tomorrow's market. She hasn't done much sewing this year because it was an overwhelming year. But we have just finished about 40 new scrunchies and she is keen.
06.01.2022 I know everyone is sick to death of me giving half photos and all that bullshit, but I want to take a moment to truly appreciate this scary, loud, and amazing machine. I can add snaps to a massive pile of rompers quickly, easily and so far out of a few hundred snaps, I've only gotten my fingers pinched twice. My new rompers have SO. MANY. SNAPS. It would be overwhelming by hand. It's still overwhelming with this giant machine.... But accessibility and ease of use are two factors that are REALLY important to me. And if I'm making overall rompers, I'm not making it so you need to strip a small child naked to change a nappy or get on the toilet fast. I'm also adding extra strap snaps for growth. Cause making clothes last ages is also important. But I will have full photos coming soon... Then will test out my other sizes. See more
05.01.2022 I missed last week's sweet garden fact and focused on actually doing my assignment, but today's is... The movement of flowers/leaves to follow the sun is called heliotrope! This is best known in sunflowers as they point their big happy flowers at the sun all day. And this photo is an adorable little not matching set! I'm super excited to send them off. Also, thank you to everyone who came and had a chat at tanks Market yesterday! I had such an awesome day, but my arms are all noodle sore today, so I obviously haven't lifted my gazebo and boxes of stock around for quite a while
05.01.2022 Guess who spent the morning eating her weight in jerky and working on her website. This lady. I had a major brain fart over what to call these and where to put them. But I've stuck with bummies, cause that's what people would know them as. Then put them in both the shorts AND bum cover categories. Boom! Productive day.
03.01.2022 Too lazy to take a decent photo and I've been busy trying to sew up stock, but tomorrow is the Christmas craft fair at the showgrounds. 8am till 2pm. I will probably be at another stall chattering away with people I haven't seen all year, but I could be in my own stall, still chattering away to people.
03.01.2022 A super cute fun custom order ready to start it's journey tomorrow!! It takes a lot to part me with my Halloween fabric collection, so if you want any amazing Halloween orders your best bet is to give me a wad of fabric and tell me what to do We would have been going to Japan in 15 days to spend Halloween at Disneyland. Instead I'm trying to work out how to sew an apple costume.
02.01.2022 A super massive thank you to everyone who came and showed support on Sunday! I love chatting with everyone who comes and says hello. It was my last market of the year and it's fun to close the curtain on my market set up for three months. Now, if you NEED some small cuteness asap and are in Cairns or Townsville, you can stop into @makinwhoopee.giftshop (in Cairns) or @renegadehandmade (Townsville) I am open for custom orders between spinning cotton and making pots. I DO NOT give any pre Christmas guarantee. My partner works for Aust post, so while it will get to you eventually... This isn't the best time of year to be posting things last minute. But if you are in no rush, now is the perfect time! If you are local and don't mind being distracted with chicken or garden chats I'm always down with local pick up too.
01.01.2022 A super cute custom order all ready! While my order list is small enough that I'm quite happy, my kids have book week coming up... So I'm not going to take more orders till I've made a fairy and Cicada costume (wtf kids.)
01.01.2022 When you run out of a specific size tag, but also don't want to dig the cutting machine out to make a fancy looking number...
01.01.2022 I have no pretty background because inside the showgrounds gives me nothing to work with, but the Christmas craft fair is on today till 2. I've already had other stall holders have to hunt me down because I keep walking away from my stall to chatter. I also just realised I didn't do my tuck shop order. So I could be crying around lunchtime.
