25.01.2022 Had to steal this.... If you give your child a pony, they will want to ride. Youll buy them the best pony you can find, followed by a helmet, boots and all th...e other things pony. You look for a local barn to ride at where you start to socialize with the equestrian communityAnd then life as you know it, will end. Before you know it, they want to show so you find a circuit ..There will be no more lazy weekends watching tv. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible. Every spare minute of your time will be spent hauling campers, horse trailers and horses and enduring a crazy addiction to practice for the next show. Your house may be a mess, and your car will be dirty. All because you gave your child a pony. Your weekends will be spent freezing or burning to death on a fold up chair. And their weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, learning new skills and having fun and getting dirty!!!! You will be there the day he or she takes the first few steps of canter, the first taste of a jump, first ribbon, first championship. And they will make you SO proud. Other parents will congratulate you, but you feel weird saying thank you because its not you on the pony, its your child. Its everything that they did, they achieved. And right before your eyes, your little boy/girl will be transformed from the baby who bounced around on their rocking horse into an exceptional young horse enthusiast on the hunt for the next pony finals or maybe even the Olympics! When you give your child a pony , you give them more than just something to ride. You give them a sport, a talent, hope and dreams. Friends, a new family, a place to learn about life, room to grow as a person where they can push their limits, and bravery, and courage, and memories. And they will have ALL of these things, simply because you gave your child a pony. Because you gave your child a pony, you too will develop new/lifelong friendships, developed solely from the same passion for the sport. You will have a equestrian family because you gave your child a pony. Then one day, many years from todaythey will be in their room and a certain trophy will catch their eye. And they will pick it up and realize instantly that when you gave your child a pony, you also gave them a childhood that they would never forget, at this point, you realize that everything you gave up along the way and sacrificed was totally worth it.. All because you gave your child a pony...

09.01.2022 Dear Drivers, My most valued possession is inside the trailer behind my car. He stepped into that rolling steel box because I asked him to and he trusts me. He...s a living, breathing creature, and all 600kgs of him are precariously balanced on four tiny hooves as my car and trailer wind down the road. My horse is not a boat or camp trailer, and I cannot stop quickly or turn sharply without risking his safety and even his life. Know that I will do just about anything to avoid hitting the brakes with a horse in my trailer. However, if your car is hidden in the blind spot behind my two-horse trailer and I do have to stop suddenly, youre too close to stop without ending up in the trailer with my horse. When I make those wide turns, I need them to prevent my horse from scrambling. Please give me room and time to turn. And that large distance between me and the car in front of me? It might look like enough room to fit three sedans bumper to bumper, but its actually the distance I need to stop softly and safely without my horse falling. Those times when were headed up a hill, my speed is as fast as I can go. My foot has the accelerator pressed to the floor, and no matter how hard you try, your car cant push us up this hill. I promise Ill move to the left lane when it becomes available or pull over if I find a safe spot on the shoulder, but until then I ask for your patience and some space. Lastly, my set up weighs 3 tons, and that much weight prevents me from swerving. When you pass me going 120km/h uphill on a blind corner, you dont just put my horse at risk: Your driving threatens the lives of the oncoming driver, my passenger, me, you, and everyone in the cars behind us. So next time you see a horse trailer, assume an animals in there. Please give the them some space and offer some patience. By driving safely, well all get where were going. We purchased Rabbit as 2 year old from The Oaks Sport Horses, and for the past 3 years she has been an asset to our family, breeding program and competition team. Rabbit could not be further from the chestnut mare stigma, she is the most kind-hearted horse, who aims to please and always gives her all. We are so excited to watch Rabbits journey with her new life partner. Josie - we know you will look after our girl and ...love her as much as we do. I have a car that mostly works and en...ough gas to get to the barn every day this week. I am rich. I have boxes of pasta and generic sauce in my pantry and enough hay to feed my horse through the winter. I am rich. I have enough old coats and sweaters to layer up and stay warm while I do barn chores. I am rich. I vacation by camping with my horses and going to cheer on my horse riding friends at horse shows. Sometimes I even play too, and spend $1000 to bring home a fifty cent ribbon that I will treasure more than a photo in front of the Eiffel Tower. I am rich. I have tools: duct tape and baling twine and the know how to fix just about anything with these tools. I am rich. I find joy in making my own things, making do, and making right. I have a 30 year old saddle, a 50 year old body, and the wonder and joy of a 6 year old child learning that a horse can give her wings. I am rich. My wealth is not measured in dollar signs but in horsey snorts and nickers. My riches arent spent on electronics and fancy clothes but are shared with my human and four footed friends. 01.01.2022 RULES | From July 2021 horses competing in FEI events will no longer be able to have their whiskers shaved. The decision was passed at the FEI General Asse...mbly held earlier this week. "Horses are not permitted to compete in FEI Events if the Horse’s sensory hairs have been clipped and/or shaven or in any other way removed unless individual sensory hairs have been removed by a veterinarian to prevent pain or discomfort for the Horse. Areas of hair that must be clipped, shaven or removed to allow veterinary treatment are exempt from this rule. As of 1 July 2021, Sanction 39 in Annex VI will be applicable". The Veterinary Committee believes that the horse’s sensory hairs must not be trimmed or removed as it reduces the horse’s sensory ability. The change will align with legislation in a number of National Federation's where trimming or removal of sensory hairs is forbidden and in some cases carries a heavy sanction.
