13.01.2022 Powerhouse Built in 1901-02, to supply power to the workshops in the complex, it was one of the first industrial complexes in Queensland to use electricity on a large scale. In the earliest days of the workshops, machinery was driven by steam power. The site expanded rapidly in the late 19th century and electricity was seen as the key to its modernisation. At the time the area had no electricity supply, so the complex set out to build there own power station.... The powerhouse was run by coal, trains would drive in and dump coal into holding areas bellow the ground level. Down here workers would man handle the coal into the burners. *Please enjoy, like and share!* This image along with all images uploaded to this page are the property of Millard Photography, Please do not use them without our permission. 09.01.2022 Butter Factory The butter factory played a pivotal role in this regions dairy industry and overall rural economy as it was the largest milk collecting facility on the Sunshine Coast from 1907 until 1953. The building was briefly used as a peat moss factory in the 1960s before being refurbished for community use in 1976.... For more than 20 years it was home to weekly craft markets but they and an adjacent boutique brewery were forced to close around 2003 when the privately-owned site changed hands. The new owner has since been involved in talks with Maroochy Shire Council about development of the property. After sitting abandoned for just over 12 months, a fire tore through the place on 11 of July 2005. Since this time the place has been taken over by nature and vandals *Please enjoy, like and share!* This image along with all images uploaded to this page are the property of Millard Photography, Please do not use them without our permission. 07.01.2022 Corner Store Gone of the time you would find a corner store sitting in a residential area. While this one still stands it hasn't seen a customer in 50 or so years. Believed to be built in the 1920s this small rectangular plan corner store has defiantly seen better days *Please enjoy, like and share!* This image along with all images uploaded to this page are the property of Millard Photography, Please do not use them without our permission.
