23.01.2022 We would like to thank everyone who has enquired about accommodation lately. Like many smaller businesses we have been closed since March while waiting out the effects of the COVID 19 virus. While we are keen to reopen, our decision has been to remained cautiously closed till the end of August. This will be reflected also through the booking agencies Booking.com and Airbnb. Private enquires are also more than welcome via our Facebook page or by mobile phone 0419 624 470. Pl...ease be assured we are also concerned for your well being. We will be providing hand sanitiser and disinfectant wipes for the benches as required. As always the unit is thoroughly cleaned after each guest. We look forward to welcoming you all in Spring. In the meantime we will take the opportunity to get some new projects underway and complete some old ones Kind regards, Robyn and Dave

21.01.2022 #WorldPenguinDay is a great day to tell you all about our penguin conservation project that has been going for over a decade now. Middle Island is a small islan...d off the coast of Warrnambool in Victoria, Australia and home to a colony of little penguins. During low tide the island becomes easily accessible and foxes were making their way across and killing our penguins. From around 800 penguins, we got down to less than 10 in a few short years. A local chicken farmer that was using maremma guardian dogs to protect his flock suggested that we try using them to protect the penguins. After all, penguins are just chooks in fancy dinner suits. We trialled some maremmas on the island and found that they did deter the foxes. We now have a team of #PenguinProtectors that keep the conservation efforts going strong. Since then we've been working on making the project even better and over 10 years later we have seen the little penguin colony increase in numbers. We still have a long way to go before reaching our previous maximum, but we're very hopeful for the future of the project. See more
