25.01.2022 Yesterday we tried adding spice mix to old play dough, not very successfully. A new day and a new batch of gingerbread play dough. Smells amazing.

25.01.2022 ABC every day . This is the latest resource of our learning the alphabet. The letter shows an Occupation , so each week we research the occupation, last week all about , Astronauts, this week , Botanist . So much to explore from this.

24.01.2022 Learning our letters. Watching Volcano erupt. The choko are growing. Rubbing plates to create a picture. New Garbage truck and learning about the recycling, compost bins. Loads of learning through fun and repetition with a great variety of resources to keep the interest.

24.01.2022 Fun times in the warm spring weather, jumping castle, ball pit, tactile tub, dancing and compost bin. Fine motor, gross motor and sustainability , learning in a fun way.

23.01.2022 Listening ears on, what is that sound? Can you find the correct picture? Dump truck , digger and bull dozer are working overtime this week, moving earth from one garden bed to another. Everyone is using their strength to push the hole puncher and rewarded with cute little cut outs on coloured paper . Dinosaurs roar!

22.01.2022 Cooking this week, we made seed bread and tomato soup , toms from the farm and basil from the garden. What did the hungry caterpillar eat? The children were tasked with finding the food from our resources , they loved looking through the play kitchen and matching the food to the pictures. That caterpillar finally grew into beautiful butterflies.

22.01.2022 It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

21.01.2022 Our community offerings this week are red hot chill I’m grown here of course, ( behind the fence for children’s safety). Please take as many as you can use. I freeze them and just chop when needed. Enjoy

19.01.2022 Dinosaur play features almost daily here. We have such a great resource collection.

18.01.2022 A new resource added this week. Hammer and chopping board. After picking herbs we have grown , the children have been smashing the leaves and stems, releasing the amazing scents of basil, mint, lime leaf, bay leaf, rosemary, tarragon and chives. A real awakening of the senses.

14.01.2022 It’s all about ANZAC this week, lots of crafting, music and working as a team. Very proud of this wreath , children painting together and with just a little help a beautiful wreath has come together. Do hope I can deliver it to the Cenotaph in Coolum this evening.

13.01.2022 The kidlets are choosing all types of vehicles to play with at the moment. So this morning instead of digging in the garden , I created a small world construction table, making barriers to contain the rocks using paddle pop sticks. A variety for rocks , using items from the cupboard . While they worked I read books about construction, trucks and vehicles. Fine motor skills required , imagination and interpretation of real life observations. A child’s play is their work.

13.01.2022 A few crafts and story books we enjoyed this week. The kidlets really respond well to story book time with props. This week having the children involved making props and acting parts of the story kept them more focused and engaged in the stories.

13.01.2022 Baking cup cakes, learning our colours , Aboriginal art using stones to trace the design. We are having fun while learning.

13.01.2022 A week of Halloween fun. Promoting community involvement. The children have enjoyed art experiences with a slightly spooky addition of spiders, rats, snakes. Of course these have extended into awareness of our surroundings and not touching these animals if we see them. We love the dress ups, masks, and lights that have added a new dimension to the environment this week.

12.01.2022 Writing in coloured sand with paint brushes and shells. Fun ABC puzzles , a visit to the local animal farm was a huge hit with the kidlets.

12.01.2022 Bit excited when a big box arrived today. Rain coats for playing outdoors will be heaps of fun now , bring on the rain! A fantastic collection of more unusual dinosaurs to add to the Dino room. Bit tricky to pronounce their names, will have to practice . New sea life , Australian animals and Aussie working dogs. And to finish off, new little water buckets, these buckets are different, they have holes and splits, so the water will flow and drop. A lovely sensory feeling on their hands, or intriguing balls rolling from the water passing through. So much fun at the water table, I wonder which one will be the favourite.

11.01.2022 Thank you for covering this issue for Educators and Schemes. There is so much more to address, but hopefully there will be much needed changes tomorrow. Please keep informed and report, our sector need a voice. In Appreciation.

11.01.2022 We love the light table, so much learning and wonder, a personal favourite resource of mine. The kidlets investigate, study, discuss and just stare at the extra dimension the light table adds to anything we put onto it. I

10.01.2022 Tradie wall was a challenge, problem solving activity. The light table is always a hit ( My personal, favourite resource) looking at colours over light, but didn’t take long for the kidlets to realise they could look through it and everything around them changed colour, lots of giggles. Embedding Aboriginal culture into service, place mats, love these. And just when you thought I couldn’t possible add anymore Dinosaurs resources, yes I did. A magnet board many ways to extend this learning. It comes with a fact book and there are even 2 skeleton puzzles to make.

10.01.2022 Fun in the sun, beautiful outdoor weather for obstacle course The letter of the alphabet last week was G for gymnast

10.01.2022 Appreciating the nomination I received recently. Celebrating 30 years of continuous Family Day Care this week. Many highs and a few lows during the years. Still going strong and always on a learning path. It’s a delight to be part of so many local families lives and caring for their little people. With many more years to follow.

08.01.2022 Some of our Australia Day activities during the last couple of weeks. Much to extend on during the next few weeks.

06.01.2022 Recently we have been collecting the Woolworths Earn and Learn Discovery garden pots. We now have little seedlings to watch as they grow. Eventually the children will help transplant into a garden bed and if we nurture them carefully we may have herbs vegetables and pretty flowers to enjoy. Watching the choir disks expand in water was a thrilling science experience each and every time. The big pot was gifted from our Educator RETREAT recently and is full of surprises. We have to wait and see what flowers grow !

06.01.2022 Empowered FDCS has been nominated in the first round. Congratulations.

05.01.2022 A peaceful morning in downtown Coolum good morning Wednesday

03.01.2022 The light table has given the kidlets many hours of learning and wonder in the last couple of weeks. One of my personal favourite resources.

03.01.2022 Children loved the home office set up, which reflects parents change of work environments. Lots of Easter crafting and story books. The colour we are learning and exploring this week was BLUE.

03.01.2022 This week we have made black rice , successfully! Loads of fun for spooky play and the very important measure and pour play. Small muscle skills, eye hand coordination.

02.01.2022 Loads of fun making Mothers Day gifts. Soap balls , caramel slice, and fizzy Bath Bombs. Hope all the Mums had CC anvv bc awesome day.

01.01.2022 Now this was a fun craft today and it works, yeah! As the top plate turns his colours change.

01.01.2022 A little summary of the December fun. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

01.01.2022 Some of this weeks activities to share with you. Learning about turtles and keeping the beach clean. They can lay up to 100 eggs in a single night. We also had ducklings visit for a few days this week. They are super active and rather messy. They can be many different colours. Lots of giggles as we watched them swim, their little legs moving so fast in the water. Recycling activity, Painting on bubble wrap that was delivered in a box , and finishing the week with good old fashion shaving cream and powder dyes, making new colours, patterns and leaving our hands and arms smelling beautiful, soft and just a little colour stained!
