20.01.2022 Very proud of our students for putting this together!

18.01.2022 Exciting times as the ACT enters phase 2 of recommencement of community sporting activity from midnight tonight! This allows small groups of players of up to 20 people plus a coach or instructor to train together. Two things to keep in mind upon your return: 1. The musculoskeletal system takes time to adapt to unaccustomed exercise demands on the body. This is why there is an increased injury risk when returning to sport after a long lay-off.... 2. Resistance training is one way to improve your musculoskeletal system's capacity to cope with new load exposures. Your muscles adapt when they spend time under tension from weights. In light of the above, current recommendations for your return are to: 1. Build up your training intensity very gradually over at least 2 weeks from the date you return. 2. Include lower limb resistance training to your fitness program at least 2 times per week (allowing for recovery days in between). 3. Avoid running-based exercise within 24 hours after a weights session, to allow for adequate recovery. It is important to carefully schedule in your resistance training around your running-based training sessions to observe this rule. Good luck and enjoy! Jack
