Growing up I wanted to work in a book shop that sold flowers and coffee and cupcakes. Where do you currently work and what is your position? I have two working hats... I work for Dr Joe McGirr MP who is the Independent State Member for Wagga Wagga. I manage Dr Joe’s office and help people who are experiencing problems with state government departments and agencies. I love my job! My side-hustle is managing the River & Wren Market. The market has been in recess for the past 12 months because of Covid (and to be honest I’ve actually enjoyed a much-needed break!). With other indoor markets returning across the state, and Wagga starting to host events again, I think the time is right for River & Wren to return! 2021 business and personal goals? My goal for 2021 is to get River & Wren running again and grow it back to the market is was pre-Covid. With comprehensive measures to comply with government restrictions, I’m planning our first market back post-Covid for 2 May. A career lesson you have learnt that you wish you knew when you were younger? You never know what’s around the corner. Have goals and plans but be prepared for a little twist and turn occasionally that can take you on a delicious unexpected adventure. As a young woman straight of university with her eyes on a career as a political and agri-political staffer, who would have ever imagined that I would end up managing a handmade market. The Chicken Meat Research Program is looking at ways to grow the long term prosperity of the industry. What's been a great example of science having an impact on a farmers' operations? The chicken meat industry is always striving to improve production throughout the whole supply chain.
