24.01.2022 Turned a few balusters. No better practice than repetition. Wax on wax off.
23.01.2022 Thank you so much Boston. I couldn’t have asked for a better city to have lived and studied in. I’m gonna miss you! Until we meet again.
23.01.2022 Bread box with tambours is complete.
22.01.2022 First time carving a shell for the footstool workshop. A little more clean up work needs to be done but so far looking good.
21.01.2022 A quick and simple finish goes a long way. A few brush coats of shellac, steel wool and a wax and that’s it. It took more time to mix the shellac than it did to apply it.
20.01.2022 Photo of the chair that I recently completed. It’s made from Hard Maple and finished with Danish oil. This was a fun project especially when learning to make and upholster the slip-seat. Photo by Lance Patterson
20.01.2022 I had the privilege of making this box for a staff member at school who is retiring after 40 years! It’s made from Mahogany and White Pine. French polish and waxed for the finish.
17.01.2022 Finished off my pie crust tray last week. It measure roughly 11 1/2 (290mm) in diameter and about 7/8 thick (22mm). It’s made from Butternut which is the Cousin to Walnut. It’s finished with Danish Oil and wax. It was a very challenging and fun project to make, learning to carve and read grain direction.
16.01.2022 Spent a couple of hours today making a simple box for my oil stone. On the top left of the photo is a really old one given to me a while back. It has the original owners carved initials which i think is pretty neat. It looks super old probably at least 100 years old. I love the history behind it.

14.01.2022 Some knee carving on the footstool I’ve been slowly working on.
14.01.2022 Turned Cabriole leg. This will be for a drop-leaf table that I’m going to be making soon.
11.01.2022 Acanthus leaf carving complete on the ball and claw foot. I’m only doing half and will compete the other later down the track.
10.01.2022 A close up of the carving I posted earlier.
08.01.2022 Made a router table for my router. Been wanting to make one for a while.
07.01.2022 One fly-rail complete. This supports the drop leaf when in use and when it’s not being used the fly-rail (or flipper) folds into itself and the leaf covers it:
06.01.2022 Finished repairing this chair today. I had to make a new leg as one of them broke. The chair leg on the right is the new one whilst the left one is the original (not broken of course). A bent lamination method was used consisting of 24 thin pieces of wood to form the correct curve and overall shape. Made from European Beech.
