22.01.2022 Equine Therapy and what it can do for you.. Equine Therapy reduces anxiety While it has long been understood that spending time with animals and pets can have a positive effect on our mood, new research suggests that horses may have a sixth sense that can identify anxiety, stress, and fear in humans, thus helping individuals to identify these emotions in themselves.... Horses helping seniors It’s well known that horses offer therapeutic benefits. New research is showing how they can help people with dementia and their caregivers. Helping riders with Autism Riding a horse helps liven these sensory preceptors, which helps make therapy exciting and motivates your child or adult to continue to be engaged. Equine therapy is highly beneficial to children or adults with autism. It helps them develop natural, core skills they need to function in society. Horses helping PTSD sufferers Research studies have shown that therapeutic horseback riding can lead to a significant statistical decrease in PTSD symptoms, such as insomnia, flashbacks or panic attacks, after just three weeks, while after six weeks, this also becomes classed as a clinically significant decrease. It has been found that there is a 66.7% likelihood for those engaging in horseback riding to have a lower PTSD score at three weeks, and 87.5% likely after six weeks. Horses helping those who may feel isolated or uncomfortable when placed in a social atmosphere Working with horses you use the foundations to build relationships that are built on trust, empathy, negotiation, compromise, and working together which is all learnt as you start riding your horse. It also allows for your communication skills to build up as you progress your riding ability. 19.01.2022 Hi riders, We have come to the conclusion and decided that we will be commencing general horse riding lessons again from 2021 (beginning of next year) with uncertainty of restrictions between metro Melbourne and regional still in limbo. With our centre going into holiday closure period shortly for the Christmas break the last thing we want to do is start up riders for only a couple of weeks then have to stop them again over our closure periods. Equine Therapy will still be o...perating as usual, our closure dates will be sent out to registered clients personally with plenty of notice. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for when bookings will be open for the 2021 riding lesson season. -JP
