24.01.2022 With the long weekend coming up, Jackson's cafe will be open on Friday (5th), Saturday (6th), Sunday (7th) AND Monday (8th) between 11.00 and 3.00 p.m.

21.01.2022 This is our new interim "Covid" menu for our Garden to Plate cafe. We also have weekend specials - this weekend it's Pea and Ham Soup, served with a sourdough dinner roll. Come in out of the cold !! The cosy warm fire in the parlour makes Jackson's an ideal destination for lunch.

17.01.2022 Some great progress this week preparing the garden for summer. Staked up the snow peas - they won’t be long. Pots and pots of lilliums in the courtyard will be very pretty. The chives and parsley is fresh garnish for homemade soup.

17.01.2022 Picked the first ‘Mr. Lincoln’ ... (deep red rose with THE best perfume). Put them in the shop. Loads more coming on.

10.01.2022 ... by far and away the best place between Strahan and Hobart. Older bloke has been in here few times came in a few minutes ago - after coffee and cake in the garden - to make a special point of telling us that our cafe is by far and away the best place between Strahan and Hobart. The truth is that we get feedback like this frequently ... but not a lot gets onto social media, so I took some photos of where he sat. Roger

06.01.2022 It was perfect weather to sit in front of the fire with a great cup of coffee and delicious home made meals. Our lamb shank soup was definitely the hit of the weekend !! We will be open again on Friday and we look forward to seeing more of our regular visitors again. We've even revamped our sign to celebrate our re-opening !

03.01.2022 Our garden to plate cafe at Jackson’s is something which makes our business unique and special. We have had amazing wild mushrooms growing this year, not just in our veggie gardens, but all over the property ! We usually have 2 mushroom seasons each year when the combination of warmth and moisture is right. In April we get rain on summer-warm soil and in September we get sun on the winter-wet ground. It’s just a pity that we haven’t been able to make better use of them because of this lockdown. We watch them grow, pick them when the flavour develops and turn them into delicious soup. We call this our 40 metre mushroom soup as all of the mushrooms are picked within 40 metres of the kitchen ! Fresh thyme from our garden adds that finishing touch. Delicious. Definitely on our menu when the cafe re-opens after this lockdown.
