23.01.2022 A quick update on the election, and thanks to all the wonderful supporters and volunteers! We’ve run a great campaign, and now we wait and see what the results will be. Counting for South Ward will be taking place this coming Thursday and Friday, but it’s likely we won’t have a result until next week, as more ballots are still coming in through the post. With any luck we’ll know who our new councillors will be next week sometime, and hopefully it’ll be a reason to celebrate...! Whatever the result, I’m proud that we’ve run a positive, forward looking campaign, and have had so many people donating their time and money. I can’t thank you all enough, and I never would have made it to this point without you all. Finally, if you’d like to keep supporting the movement, why not join the Ballarat & District Greens? Our grassroots community relies on people like you to stand up for what matters!

16.01.2022 Today’s the last day that you can vote! If you’ve been putting it off, grab your ballot off the kitchen table, the fridge or out of the mail box and number the boxes 1 to 8 (preferably starting with my name!). Pop it in the included envelope, sign it and make sure it’s posted before 6pm today. You can be fined if you don’t vote. Feel free to use my How To Vote guide, but the most important thing is to get that vote posted!

16.01.2022 Haven’t received your ballot pack? Don’t panic! If your ballot hasn't shown up in the post yet, you can get a replacement Get in touch with the VEC via the link below to sort out a new ballot pack - and have your say!... There's still a week to go so make sure you get your vote in (and avoid the fine!)

15.01.2022 While it’s important to have a long term vision and think about the issues facing our city, we can’t forget about the basics! The question of Roads, Rates and Rubbish comes up a bit, and here’s what we’re planning to do: An All Waste Interchange in BWEZ, allowing us to process our waste locally and creating jobs... A commercial composting facility Incentives for green jobs and business innovation Green bins for your kitchen scraps AND green waste Stronger roads using crushed glass instead of sand A better tip shop, promoting our circular economy Repair cafes located alongside waste facilities Council events and catering with no single use plastic These are a few of the things that Belinda Coates, Ellen Burns and I would like to achieve and we know it's possible as a lot of these are already being done by other councils. We can’t do it without your support though, so make sure to Vote 1 for us in your postal ballot Thanks to Ballarat Times News Group for helping us spread the word in the new issue out today!

13.01.2022 Have you sent in your vote yet? Voting ends this Friday and 60% of South Ward votes are in Some local elections have come down to a handful of votes, and this election is looking like it’ll be a very close one, so make sure to have your say. ... I’m always happy to chat if you have any questions, or are still making up your mind. Make sure you get yours in soon, and if you haven’t received your ballot, make sure to get in touch with the VEC! You won’t be fined as long as your ballot is posted before October 23rd. I couldn’t have done it without your support, so thanks again

09.01.2022 Hi, I’m Jackson Snep and I’m your Greens endorsed candidate for South Ward in the upcoming Ballarat Council election. We’re getting to the pointy end in this last week of the campaign, and should have the result announced this Saturday, so I’m writing this post to firstly remind you to get your vote in, and secondly to outline my background and platform. I’m a winemaker and farmer in the family business, Welshmans Reef Vineyard, and I’m passionate about sustainability, the lo...cal economy and community. I have a business degree and eight years experience in the corporate and small business sectors. I’m running for Council because I believe we need a fresh, more progressive perspective. I’m passionate about the sustainability and liveability of our city, and will work constructively to realise our vision for Ballarat. If elected, my priorities will be: - Climate Action - a sustainable city powered by 100% renewable energy - Local Economy - support businesses, local jobs and a stronger, greener economy - Governance - increased transparency, integrity and responsible management of the council budget There’s a lot that I’d like to achieve beyond these three dot points, including better active transport infrastructure, more urban greening, improved recycling, higher standards for new developments, and much more. If you want to help my campaign, please share this post, tell your friends (especially if they’re in South Ward!) and of course don’t forget to vote!

09.01.2022 Have you heard about the new changes to COVID-19 restrictions announced today? Here's a quick summary of the changes for Regional Victoria from 11:59PM tonight: Hospitality businesses can have up to 40 customers indoors and 70 outdoors ... Social bubbles removed, you can now have two guests and their dependents visit, once per day Book and toy libraries allowed to open for 20 people at a time There are more details in the DHHS post below, and more to come from 11:59pm on November 1. As always, stay safe, wear a mask, wash those hands and make sure you get tested if you have any symptoms!

06.01.2022 Today’s the day! The VEC will be posting out ballots from today, so keep an eye on your letterbox There’s a few things to keep in mind 1. Voting closes on the 23rd October so make sure to have it in the post or handed in before then. ... 2. You must number every single box or your vote won’t count. 3. Your top few numbers will make a difference as preferencing kicks in. 4. If you don’t vote you can be fined. And of course please Vote 1 Jackson Snep!

05.01.2022 How to vote for me! At first I wasn't going to put together a How To Vote guide, and thought I would just recommend that people vote in whichever order feels right to them. However, after speaking to other candidates and reading their social media and surveys, as well as attending several community forums, I've realised that I have some insight of the candidates which I should share. Not everyone has the time (or can be bothered!) to research every candidate, and a few of you... have been in touch to ask how I'd vote. This reflects how well the values of each candidate fit with my values. If you can, I suggest you read up on all of the candidates, watch the forums and make up your own mind, but this is my advice. Of course the most important thing is to put a 1 down the bottom, and make sure every box is numbered so it's a valid vote!

05.01.2022 Voting closes tomorrow! Make sure your ballot is posted by 6pm tomorrow (or the time that your local post box is cleared) to have your say on the future of our Council, and to avoid getting a fine

03.01.2022 Did you see this article in the Courier about local Ballarat business Replas? They have developed a way to use recycled plastic in concrete, which means less waste and lower emissions - as well as more jobs This is the sort of business and industry we should be supporting and attracting to Ballarat

01.01.2022 Thanks John for your endorsement! John Barnes was our Mayor in 1999 and again in 2004, and is a fierce advocate for Ballarat residents. He’s also been a fantastic support for my campaign, not only providing great advice, but also installing the vast majority of my corflutes.
