23.01.2022 Lumbar Disc testing. Spinal discs are often the cause of pain and tightness but not many practitioners are trained to assess and treat them like this video demonstrates. By treating the disc directly, the client will rapidly improve. (Warning: do not try this technique at home as side-effects are likely if not performed correctly).

11.01.2022 Lorimer Moseley's teachings about pain are truly revolutionary - so much in fact that he now has a Pain Revolution campaign. Lorimer teaches us that pain is not... in the body, it is in the brain. Physiotherapy teaches us to use pain to significantly help with the diagnosis process. Physiotherapy is not using Lorimer's research. Why go to the part of the body where the pain is when the pain isn't there? Pain is in the brain. Some might think, yes, but the brain is mapping the pain to the body parts because there is an issue there. How do you know? This is a big assumption. How can physiotherapy know exactly where the cause is, where to treat, how to fix? What if it's possible to identify the single cause, where to treat and how to fix the reason why the brain is creating pain? This is possible by objectively measuring dysfunctions (Fundamental 1): - In every body part, not just where the pain is - Nerve gliding throughout the body - All muscle knots, lengths, strengths, recruitment throughout the body - All joint glides throughout the body - All movement ranges, function throughout the body - Thoughts, emotions, behaviours - With every client And use the dysfunctions - which are different for each individual client - to prove the single cause (Fundamental 3), where to treat and how to fix. The single cause is very often in a very different region of the body, up to 80% of the time. See an example of Doug Jones fixing Fiona's neck-shoulder condition with treating somewhere very different to the pain - in the video summary below. Warning - It's not what you would expect. You may be uncomfortable with what you see because of how different this is to physiotherapy. Sure we might not know why the brain chooses to map the pain where it is. We look at the person’s lifestyle and often we often find the reason the brain maps it there. For example, Fiona's neck-shoulder pain protected her by preventing an activity which strained her single cause... and I'm not mentioning the region to avoid spoiling the surprise on the video. Have you noticed how many times 'pain' is mentioned in the 5 Fundamentals of Musculoskeletal Health (below)? Not once! Why not? This approach doesn't involve any assumptions. We know the best way to fix the problem is to fix the dysfunctions... then, the brain has no reason to create pain. It would not be possible to fix Fiona's problem if the pain was in any way used as part of the problem-solving process. Doug followed the Ridgway Method (RM) process and used each of the 5 Fundamentals with immediate effect. See video below to learn what this looks like. SEE the video at this page: http://ridgwaymethod.com/RM-Paradigm-V2-scp98663.html RM 5 Fundamentals of musculoskeletal health: 1. Be objective 2. Often an intervention to a very different region of the body creates the best results 3. The single best intervention results in resolution of multiple dysfunctions throughout the body 4. Musculoskeletal and sports conditions result from accumulative strain 5. Behaviour change is required for a rapid fix and for sustaining the fix

11.01.2022 In May I ran a clinic at the Swimming New England & North West Inc. development weekend. It was great to give back to the community where I grew up. I taught the young athletes how to use their glutes when kicking to prevent injury and enhance performance! I was also able to teach the coaches and swimmers how to teach it to the swimmers at their own clubs! The kids were lucky enough to have 2 coaches from Sydney Olympic Park coach them for the weekend.

11.01.2022 Last month Wade and I taught a a number of physiotherapists and a massage therapist how to test Sciatic Nerve problems and how to fix them. The best part was being able to help other health professionals so they can help their clients and we can have a bigger impact on the community.
