24.01.2022 With the recent addition of 2 dogs to my property I realised that canine urine and healthy lawns do not mix!!!! Within a couple of weeks of my lawn being used as a toilet it was covered in brown patches. The grass would completely die in these patches and then form holes in my lawn. Turns out it’s the nitrate in a dog’s diet that causes the lawn to burn, luckily you only need to remove a small amount of nitrates from their diet to prevent their urine burning your lawn. ... I wasn’t keen on visiting a canine dietitian (yes they exist, I guess for people who love dogs as much as I love my lawn haha) however I’m always up for an easy solution. DOG ROCKS!!!! I really can’t express enough how essential this product is if you have dogs and a lawn. Place the rocks in your dog’s water bowl, they filter out some nitrates and ammonia from the water and stop the dogs urine from burning the lawn. Most pet shops will sell dog rocks, good landscapers and turf farms will also recommend and sell this product.
