01.01.2022 The City has received the development application for the water splash park and revamped playground to be located at Lyons Cove. The application includes th...e design, plans and other documents the development must follow and is the approval process required prior to starting onsite works. A pump station, new toilet and change room facilities as well as improved car parking have also been included in the proposal. The splash park will be managed by Discovery Holiday Parks owners of the adjacent holiday park and will be free and open to all members of the community to use. The City will be responsible for the playground, car park, ablution facilities and other infrastructure such as lighting and pathways. Shade structures will be installed over the splash park and playground while large trees will be retained to provide even more shade to the area. A further 22 car parking bays will be added bringing the total of bays to 42 and a new roundabout will be built making it easier for boat users to access the area. Landscaping will be undertaken and accessible picnic tables and new seating will be installed. MARCIA guidelines will be followed during the construction of a new toilet block and hardscaping elements such as flush kerbs and pram ramps. The precinct will be designed in shipwreck theme and future upgrades to lighting will form part of the project. It is due for completion in 2020.
