23.01.2022 Little bit of fun with the Nominations Council for the @apscreenawards, letting their hair down in the photo studio, after a busy week determining nominees for this years Awards. 22.01.2022 The smallest of mementos from past journeys beyond my borders are scattered around my home. Each holds a memory of where I went, how it made me feel, the relationships I made, the moments experienced, and the impacts on my life that have come about through a change of perspective from my everyday. Each tiny, lightweight memento creates a timeline of memories of a longer journey than the one they represent alone. My submission to the LensCulture Award themed Journeys. #photography #travelphotography #journeys #travel #memento

21.01.2022 My favourite ever Google homepage this morning! Celebrating Artemisia Gentileschi, who was born on this day in 1593. An Italian Baroque painter, she is now considered one of the most accomplished seventeenth-century artists. Working in the dramatic style of Caravaggio , she was the first woman admitted to the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence. She painted in the courts of Europe and became friends with the likes of Galileo Galilei. I had the chance to have a hy...pothetical conversation with Artie (as I like to call her) - interpreted by author Mary-Rose MacColl and artist Sam Cranstoun - when I was part of QPACs Impossible Conversations project in 2018. 20.01.2022 So beautifully shot! I spent time in this same area in 2013 hanging out at the Jewish Community Centre meeting holocaust survivors and young people who have only recently discovered their Jewish heritage. Together they are seeking to explore their past and turn it into a positive future. My series - while better viewed in exhibition prints - can be seen at http://jacquelinebawtree.com/beyond-the-ruins/ Meanwhile, please check out the stunning artistry of the images by Tuschman here on LensCulture.

19.01.2022 My latest photog competition entry. Daily Life images from Bangladesh in 2017.

15.01.2022 Loved how these guys were caught staring right down the barrel of my camera as we paused on the bridge crossing the mighty Brahmaputra River in Mymensingh earlier this year. Bangladeshis still do an incredible amount of manual labour. Here I managed to capture some of the local workers labouring across the main bridge crossing the river into town, carting everything from flour or possibly rice, to melons, to icecream. I didnt envy them the loads they carried. #symbiosisinternational #volunteering

10.01.2022 The stories of regional and rural Australia are important: our stories matter. Local stories matter. "In recent months we have seen more than 150 regional and community newspapers cease printing. This is on top of the 106 local and regional papers that closed over the previous decade. While the Government has announced a $50 million Public Interest News Gathering (PING) program to support regional journalism, more needs to be done."... Write to your local member today with template before, calling for more action. #ourstories, #ourcommunities and #MEAAmedia

09.01.2022 A change of scenery this week for a job out in the beautiful Scenic Rim south west of Brisbane. I was quite taken with the curious residents of one of our locations. The Summer Land Camel Farm also houses a cafe in the beautiful old homestead that was once the family home of early Australian film maker Charles Chauvel. #dream #plan #book #goodtogo #visitscenicrim

09.01.2022 Art and sport have the power to change the world, the power to inspire, the power to unite people in a way little else can. Art and sport speak to people in a language they understand. Art and sport can create hope where there was once only despair. They are instruments for peace, even more powerful than governments. | Nelson R. Mandela

01.01.2022 A great visual exploration of place by Todd Cleave in Western Australia. Heavily inspired by the Kimberley and South West region, Cleave incorporates the two regions together.
