24.01.2022 Highly, highly recommended

23.01.2022 Its Active April! Commit to half an hour of exercise each day in April and youll feel so much better by the end of the month. My contribution is a half-hour qigong set that you can follow along to in mirror image. Ive even donned the silks for the occasion! https://www.jadeladytaichi.com.au/post/get-active-in-april

22.01.2022 A blog post on setting and achieving (or not) activity goals. Here I manage to find a reason to post gratuitous photos of my cat Saki

22.01.2022 I love to settle in and take my time with my qigong practise, but there are days when time is limited and a shorter session is needed. In this Short-On-Time Qigong set I've put together a complete 'workout' with breath and meditative focus, warm up, stretching and energising moves followed by a cool down of meridian stroking and tapping. All of that takes only 13 minutes. Don't skip your qigong if you're pressured for time give this routine a whirl. www.jadeladytaichi.com.au

22.01.2022 I love Tuesdays! I take a qigong class, formerly at Balwyn Community Centre, now from my lounge room via Zoom. Its lovely to see familiar friendly faces and to have a chat between qigong forms. It means such a lot to me to be able to do this at the moment. Human contact, even through devices, is precious!

22.01.2022 Would you like to see what a Zoom tai chi and qigong class is like? I've made this one public so everyone can see that the classes are achievable and accessible for most people whether they have learnt the forms or not. Don't stress if you miss some detail, just keep flowing and keep moving!

21.01.2022 We had instructor training yesterday for Celestial Tai Chi College instructors. Its such a joy to geek out a bit with like-minded people and explore the moves with a different mind-set. Senior Instructor Wally Wilkinson always gives us much food for thought with plenty of threads to follow up for homework if we wish. My body was struggling, so I retreated to behind my camera and watched through the lens. Looking through the photos afterwards takes me back to what was being said at the time. I particularly love the expressions of focus and curiosity flowing through us all. Celestial Tai Chi College Australia

21.01.2022 New Release! Warm Up 7 is live and this one prepares your body well for the five animals qigong, although it's a well-rounded warm up for any form. This includes some solid balance training as well, so could in fact be enough of a workout on its own. Stay till the end for some self massage

21.01.2022 I had a delightful practice in the park this morning where I almost lost my mask AND sword thanks to the crazy wind gusts. My lightweight sword bent in the breeze and threatened to launch itself into a neighbouring suburb. In class Im regularly reminding my sword students to keep a fairly loose grip on the handle for easier movement and to allow the wrist to remain mostly in neutral. But today required a death grip, especially as a mum and her bub were playing on the cricket pitch nearby. It was an extra level challenge that had me laughing out loud, such was my pleasure at being out and practising today. Spring is here, warmer weather is on the way and we are edging slowly closer to being able to have group lessons at the park again. I cant wait!

21.01.2022 This post outlines a practise session I did when feeling thoroughly substandard and changes I felt throughout and after the session. Also included is a no-frills video of 32 Sword. https://www.jadeladytaichi.com.au/post/achey-tired-grouchy

20.01.2022 Have you tried the Five Animals Qigong (Wu Qin Xi) yet? It is a truly wonderful and delightful form that may even make you laugh! There are many unique moves that make the body and brain feel alive and sparking. The form is easily modified for those with physical limitations and chronic pain and I've written about several modifications you can make to ensure the form causes you no pain. Please read to the end of my post and give it a try!

20.01.2022 It's taken me a while to pluck up the courage to watch this ... but I think I managed okay! This is the presentation I gave for the Carer's Victoria Virtual Expo. I talk for a few minutes at the start about qigong and tai chi and then go through some beginner-level moves. I can hear the nerves in my voice at the start! But this will give people considering whether to try tai chi and qigong a good idea of what we do in a class. With many thanks to Carer's Victoria and to Estia Health, the sponsors for my presentation.

19.01.2022 This is a repost for everyone who is doing their tai chi (and other exercise) at home please read this and please warm up!

19.01.2022 A tribute to one of the sweetest men I know: Mario Cianci. https://www.jadeladytaichi.com.au//from-the-archives-mario

18.01.2022 What a great summary.

17.01.2022 How are you looking after your health and fitness at the moment? In my qigong class we stretch, we strengthen, we breathe, we flow, we focus. Choose your own level of intensity and work at your own pace. Follow this link for my Zoom class and explore the other class options and videos I have available as well.

17.01.2022 Hold the sky and press the mountain with me as I flow through 8 Tao Yin forms. We will also catch a star, flap our wings and curl our trunks!

17.01.2022 We always do a warm up in class, but do you do one before your tai chi and qigong practise at home? Heres why you should! https://www.jadeladytaichi.com.au/post/why-warm-up

16.01.2022 Most people who have done tai chi and qigong for even a short while will probably have done some variation of the Ba Duan Jin Qigong. Its a very strengthening form and lends itself very well to being modified to suit tricky bodies. Its all over YouTube and Ive added my video to the mix, along with a post that talks about how to modify the moves to suit your body. https://www.jadeladytaichi.com.au/post/ba-duan-jin-qigong

16.01.2022 Tai Chi 10-Form is great to do when space and time are limited. Even though some postures are modified, you can still express the intent of each tai chi move. Focus and flow and you will go a long way towards improving cognitive function, strengthening balancing muscles and lubricating your joints.

15.01.2022 Join me and my colleagues for tai chi and qigong classes at all of Boroondaras leisure centres. Forget what you look like, come and enjoy beautiful, strengthening and relaxing exercises while you calm and focus your mind. #thisgirlcanvic

13.01.2022 New blog post: my latest workshop on Shibashi Set 3 https://www.jadeladytaichi.com.au/p/shibashi-set-3-workshop

13.01.2022 Ive watched Gagas documentary twice, cried both times, and want to wrap her up in a warm hug and teach her tai chi and qigong. Im grateful I had early diagnosis and compassionate advice from day 1. Gently does it.

13.01.2022 Fancy a qigong-style balance workout thats harder than it looks? Give this a whirl! https://www.jadeladytaichi.com.au//a-new-video-and-a-confe

13.01.2022 World Tai Chi and Qigong Day is coming up on Saturday 27th of April. This is a truly lovely event where all around the world, tai chi and qigong lovers practise their forms starting at 10am local time. This creates is a 24 hour wave of collective chi flowing along the timeline. Our beautiful earth and inhabitants could sure do with the lift at the moment, so please join in, even if you do it in your lounge room. Ive been invited to join Rising Moon Tai Chis event and will ...be heading to Mt Eliza. Jenny Harrison has planned a beautiful morning with several different forms of tai chi and qigong, which are then followed by a few demonstrations, including me performing 32 Sword. The morning is also a fundraiser for the local charity Fusion Australia. Celestial Tai Chi College are having WTCQD in Central Park in East Malvern from 10am to midday. For those who cant get to a local event, you could pick one of my qigong-style warm ups and follow it with the half-hour Active April Shibashi set. www.jadeladytaichi.com.au

12.01.2022 My qigong class is one of many classes that are going to be free to try in the last week of September through Balwyn Community Centre. Come and join me via Zoom on Tuesday 29th September from 11am to 12pm. Alternatively you can try my fellow instructor and friend Catriona Wells on Wednesday 30th September from 10am to 11am. The beauty of Zoom is you dont have to be a local so give it a try!

12.01.2022 Here is a gentle warm up designed for painful bodies. Try this in the morning if you typically wake feeling stiff and it could help you get moving a little more freely. For those who dont have chronic pain, still give this a go but challenge yourself by sinking into a really low stance to train your legs.

11.01.2022 I'm really delighted to be a part of the Carers Victoria Connecting Carers Expo. Over the next two days is an inspiring program of speakers and activity leaders, all with the aim of better supporting carers. I'll be taking a tai chi and qigong session this afternoon https://www.carersvictoria.org.au//carers-victoria-connect

11.01.2022 I've been doing a lot of tweaking behind the scenes to my website and YouTube channel. It's satisfying when it works! My YouTube channel now looks a lot more pro and organised have a look and please share with your friends!

09.01.2022 The next step in super-charging my YouTube channel was to make a channel trailer. This was a lot of fun and was hugely helped by a brand new 12TB external hard drive that is 10x faster than my previous one! (I can't quite express how excited I am by that - so fast! ) Many tai chi friends make an appearance as does my cat Saki. And I also realised that I have no photos of myself with the Celestial masters. I'm pretty sure that's because I'm usually taking the photos, rather than that they avoid me! I'll aim to have some taken next year and slip them in when I do. Please have a watch!

09.01.2022 Did you let your fitness slide a little in 2020? That's okay, many of us did. Go gently in getting it back. Be kind to yourself. Do a little at a time and gradually extend out your exercise minutes. Below is my final class of the term for Balwyn Community Centre. I have included links to each segment, so you can choose which form you would like to follow, or start from the beginning and go as far as your body and brain allow. Put aside your chattering mind and don't judge yourself, just flow, flow, flow.

09.01.2022 My latest video is a half-hour set of shibashi qigong that is suitable for all levels including beginners. Follow along in mirror image and enjoy the beautiful stretching and strengthening moves. You can work as hard or as gently as you like and set your stance according to how you feel on the day. Ive gotten a little creative here I hope you enjoy!

08.01.2022 www.jadeladytaichi.com.au is now live!

06.01.2022 I cant recommend Master Jesse Tsao highly enough. He is a delight to learn from - passionate, funny, knowledgeable and kind. Come and join me at these workshops!

06.01.2022 What a lovely morning with the Rising Moon family for World Tai Chi and Qigong Day!

04.01.2022 I'm adding a permanent Zoom class to my timetable next year! Let me know if you're interested and I'll keep you posted. The easiest way is to subscribe to the Jade Lady mailing list via my website: www.jadeladytaichi.com.au This video is an example of what I do in these sessions. They will all be recorded at HD and be available for everyone to redo or catch up on if a class is missed. I'm pleased to be embracing these new skills learnt during Covid-time!

03.01.2022 New post! Been a while : )

03.01.2022 Warm Up 6 is live! This one will get your heart beating rather faster than previous warm ups. Listen to your body, adapt as needed. Id love to hear what you think

01.01.2022 The Yi Jin Jing is another very old and very popular health qigong form. Ive given it my touch and recorded the form in full and followed that with some modifications to selected moves. For those with tricky bodies, read the blog post first and take care when first exploring this form. Its very powerful.

01.01.2022 I've just made public a back view recording of Taijijian 32 Tai Chi Sword 32. Included in the video are all of the movement names and which direction the sword and/or the eyes should be facing. Also, please enjoy the cute dog scuffing around towards the end.

01.01.2022 A new video and new blog post are up! Follow along to 10-Form Yang Tai Chi. Its rather lovely. https://www.jadeladytaichi.com.au//10-form-yang-tai-chi-an

01.01.2022 It was absolutely delightful in the park this morning! We started with some calming breathing, followed by some limbering of all the major joints of the body. We then moved on to Shibashi Set 3 and the Lotus Qigong before enjoying our long form Yang tai chi. We had little groups dotted throughout the shady spots, including Chen 56, 32 Sword and all of the tai chi levels. See you here again in 7 weeks
