14.01.2022 Meet our commercial Lawyer, Mateo Gonzalez. Mateo came from humble beginnings. He moved to Brisbane from Colombia as a 7-year-old, knowing no English and speaking only fluent Spanish. Since then, he has had the privilege of living in Chile, South America where he completed the world renowned and internationally accept International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma which allowed him to get into University in Australia. Mateos IB high school score converted to approximately a 99....99 ATAR/OP1. As a result of his hard work and efforts, he was given an early offer and the opportunity to study a double degree in Law and Construction Management & Economics in Adelaide, South Australia. Since completing his double degree, Mateo has completed his Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, completed all his work experience required for both his degrees and was admitted as a solicitor in Queensland in mid-2019. His work experience is extensive, since his first job at 12-year-old as a clean-up boy at a butcher to his most recent roles which include Project Manager, Commercial Administrator, Legal Counsel and now Lawyer. He has a particular interest in Construction Law where he believes his unique double degree and work experience gives him an inherent advantage over other Lawyers. Mateo specialises in Commercial Law broadly speaking but often gets involved in other areas of Law. He is always pursuing new knowledge with an aim to stay informed so that he can provide the best legal advice to his clients. In his spare time, Mateo goes to the gym and plays sport, which was a big part of his upbringing. In his high school days, he had a sports scholarship and played sport at an elite level. Mateo also enjoys nights out with friends and family and is a sucker for some good food.
