14.01.2022 Traveling days - Wat Mahathat in Ayutthaya the ancient capital of (Siam) Thailand, nobody knows for certain how the Buddha head became entwined in the roots of the tree. The Burmese invaded in 1767 and vandalised many of the Buddha images in Ayutthaya by lopping off the heads. One theory suggests that the tree simply grew around the Buddha head during the period when the temple lay abandoned and overgrown. Another theory is that a thief moved the Buddha head away from the main temple to hide it, and left it abandoned by the wall not far from the entrance of Wat Mahathat where it can be seen today nestled in the tree roots which have grown around it. @jaimecmurcia#travelphotographer#letsgosomewhere#moodygrams#passionpassport@fujifilmx_au@natgeotravel#yourshotphotographer

02.01.2022 Leaning into his grandfathers arms the little boy gazed back at me as we motored across the small harbour of Tanjung pinang on a Pompong boat from the island of Bintan towards the much smaller island of Penyenygaton located just outside of the harbour, on this island a fort and the great mosque was established as part of the Sultanate ofJohor-Riauby theBugis dating back to the 18th Century.
