25.01.2022 The Hong Kong protests dominated the news for months, due in part to the visual spectacle they create (this is an important part of the story). But this coverage also has a tendency to depersonalise protesters behind molotov cocktails and gas masks. Whilst there is undoubtedly a radical element, the vast majority of protesters I met were kind, considerate young people, many of them students, who are watching their freedom slip away. A sidenote; anyone participating in illegal... protests in Hong Kong can be charged with rioting and face up to 10 years in jail. So the people who spoke on camera for this film did so with extreme courage. Thank you. Shot over five days in November 2019. Special thanks to the following: Katelin Koprivec (narrration), Sofia Cavalli (animiation), Josh Whitehead (music) and Jason Wong (for his invaluable guidance over there).

14.01.2022 Vignettes from St Huberts. With nearly half its population aged over 60, St Huberts Island on the NSW Central Coast is one of the nation's most vulnerable communities should COVID-19 take hold. To flatten the curve, residents are getting back to basics, revelling in the joys of music, community, exercise, and a good glass of wine.... Photo essay for ABC News / ABC Central Coast

13.01.2022 Back in November I booked a trip to Hong Kong to film the ongoing political uprising there. As it turned out, the following five days were the most violent and chaotic in over 6 months of demonstrations, as riot police laid siege to the Polytechnic University for days on end. I’ve made a film about the weekend, which is going up Sunday. For now, here is twenty seconds.... Animation: Sofia Cavalli

13.01.2022 Bushfires on New Years Eve forced the postponement of the Tumbarumba's 75th rodeo. The town is still recovering, but last Friday the rodeo finally went ahead, with 2,000 spectators watching on. For ABC Riverina

11.01.2022 It seems the new national security law may spell the end for Hong Kong. Democracy groups are disbanding and protesters are trying to leave. New crimes of terrorism/succession/subversion carry life imprisonment, trial without a jury and allow national security agents to do whatever they feel necessary to suspects. Sad times indeed.

05.01.2022 Recent work for ABC Riverina Its been a pretty tough summer for Tumbarumba. Bushfires on New Year's Eve destroyed over a dozen homes and forced the cancellation of the 75th rodeo. But over the weekend, the rescheduled 2020 Tumbarumba Blaze of Glory Rodeo took place, with over 1,500 spectators.
