Here is a very short list of amazing Aboriginal female owned businesses that you might like to check out, support and share with your friends this Christmas. Remember there are lots of ways you can support small businesses this year even if you can't purchase from them. 03.01.2022 Kinaway Indigenous Business Month: Invigorate Business Panel Featuring Sharon Brindley of Cooee Cafe & Jala Jala Treats. Where: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/...kinaway-ibm-invigorate-indi My name is Sharon, I am a proud Yamatji/Noongar woman whose core purpose is to bring people together through food. I grew up on the Mornington Peninsula spending a lot of my childhood over in Kalgoolie with my Grandmother, where I would be taken out to the bush and taught how to live off the land. This is where I developed my love of cooking and knowledge of Indigenous ingredients. I see food as an integral part of connecting family and people regardless of their background, culture or religion. I have the only Indigenous café on the Mornington Peninsula that serves the local community and caters to corporate companies in Melbourne’s CBD and surrounding suburbs. I have recently ventured into a new business called Jala Jala Treats, a business that supplies wholesale and retailers sweet treats that include Indigenous flavours. We have a range of products, our most popular being Chocolates, Coffee & Slices and we are currently looking to expand on our products. I have been cooking since I was 11 years old after my Mother passed away and have been in the hospitality industry for 30 years. It has always been my passion to introduce people to the incredible flavours and native ingredients of the land to the Australian people and I have been able to do that in my café - Cooee Café. I have been running the Café for about 3 years now, previous to that I owned a takeaway called Shazza’s Takeaway before moving on to something that could help me become closer to my community. I am really excited to see where Jala Jala Treats takes me, we are currently focusing on supplying Australia and then heading overseas, getting my treats onto popular Airlines and motels all over the world. #cooee #catering #torresstraight #indigenous #melbourne #yarraville #business #excellence #community #victoria #panel #INDIGBIZMONTH Ngarrimili Indigenous Business Month
