24.01.2022 Day 26 of our 30 Day Literacy Challenge - Our work in India Watch this short video about the work the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation supports in India. https:/.../www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBkvmDNrxs8&t=1s Our founder & chair, Caroline Jane Knight, visited this Anganwadi daycare centre last year and sat in on a class (where this photo was taken) to see for herself the difference our contribution is making to the lives of these children. We are raising money for more Anganwadi centres in Delhi to participate in the Worldreader Read to Kids program. The Jane Austen Literacy Foundation is run entirely by volunteers. If you have enjoyed Literacy Month and would like to support our work in India, please make a donation, however large or small, here: https://bit.ly/3cnoNsI

21.01.2022 Day 27 of the 30 Day Literacy Challenge - Parade for Literacy PARADE FOR LITERACY today wherever you are in the world. To join in the fun, simply put on your ...Regency finery (optional) and parade 400 metres in your street, your garden, or even around your living room, holding a book in your hand. Take a photo of yourself and post on social media with #litmonth2020 It is free to participate but if you can, please make a donation so we can continue our work in India: https://bit.ly/3cnoNsI Australian residents, please donate here: https://janeaustenlf.org/donate-now The Parade for Literacy usually takes place in Chawton as part of Jane Austen Regency Week held in June each year. We parade in our Regency finery from Jane's cottage, in the middle of the village, 400m to Chawton Great House, retracing Jane's steps to her brother's home to use the family library to raise money for our literacy projects. We were not able to hold the event in 2020. Instead, we will Parade for Literacy around the world, to show our support for literacy. We aim to raise US$3,000 / 2,360 to pay for a daycare centre in Delhi to particpate in the Worldreader Read To Kids Program. Thank you for your support.
