12.01.2022 Hey ranchers I’d like to introduce you to Jane and Kate De Long who are our roping clinicians. Hi everyone . Thank you for your interest in this clinic. Over the course of our lifetime in having horses we have been extremely fortunate to have many amazing horsemen and women who have generously shared their time and knowledge. This clinic is our chance to pass on some of this knowledge.... Our personal preference is for safe versatile horses that will succeed in any discipline. Growing up on a Kimberley cattle station with an American father who believes that girls could and should do everything our first roping experiences were in a bronco style yard to brand cattle and roping bullocks out in the desert from a bull catcher with a saddle set up. We competed very successfully in rodeos in barrels, team roping, steer undecorating and breakaway whist in the Kimberley . Time spent working on ranches in the USA added to our roping skill set. Kate also spent time working in western pleasure training barns in California. We have camp drafted, showed in western shows, played polo crosse, horse sported, rodeoed and generally participated in any available horse activity that that was available in the area we were living in Australia which have been many and varied. Roping has remained as one our preferred activities. The lack of dedicated professionals across northern Australia led us to explore a variety of subject areas to provide the best care for our horses. Kate is especially interested in training, nutrition and feet. Jane is an accredited Equine Sports Massage Therapist. Some of the topics we will be covering are; Safety while roping for you and your horse. Animal welfare Confirmation of the rope horse Is your horse rope ready? Overview Equipment required Mechanics of the rope and Roping pre start daily check Dummy practice. Roping tips Box training Starting to tracking cattle Look forward to see you at Jambarlu
