15.01.2022 #flashbackfriday In 1991, Australian boxing legend #jefffenech took on #Ghananian champion #AzumaNelson in a World Title fight in the Super featherweight division. The fight was an undercard to the Mike Tyson v Razor Ruddock heavyweight re-match at #CaersersPalace, #LasVegas. ... The Fenech/Nelson fight ended in a controversial draw, which resulted in a re-match in Australia. Our featured photo on the front cover of the #NationalLiquorNews shows Fenech facing off with Nelson. The marketing slogan is the #Tooheys BigBlue, with Tooheys Blue being the popular low alcohol alternative at that time (Feb 92). The Flashback connection with the pub is that someone edited the photo and replaced the face of Jeff Fenech, with the face of #Jamberoo ACF Store Manager David (Doobie) Ward - Doobie is a dead-ringer for Jeff Fenech. The photo sits proudly on the wall behind the bar of the Jamberoo Pub and is just one of thousands of local stories since the pubs establishment in #1857. Lion Australia Managing Director James Brindley was joined by NSW Rugby League great and Tooheys Ambassador Nathan Hindmarsh at the Tooheys Brewery today to make the announcement this morning. NSW has endured an incredibly tough few months. We want to help get the states beer economy flowing particularly in areas that have been the hardest hit by #bushfires, loss of #tourism, and of course #COVID19. The first time youre back at your local might be different to what youre used to. New hygiene and safety measures are in place and this is all about keeping everyone safe, Brindley said. But the one thing that we guarantee to be exactly the same is the fresh Tooheys on tap. It simply cannot be beaten. March 23 was the most gut-wrenching day our industry has ever seen. We did our bit to minimise the financial burden, announcing within hours that we would credit $30 million for unused kegs left stranded at pubs and clubs around the country. Since then weve had a team of technicians cleaning more than 15,000 beer taps, so they are in perfect working order for when theyre needed. We want to do all we can to support local #pubs and #clubs in #NSW on the road to recovery. We hope this truck full of #free #kegs will make it a little bit easier for them to turn their taps back on this week to welcome more people and bring their communities back together.
