23.01.2022 At Jamboree Community Kindergarten we have established a Bush Kindy Program where we support our children to connect with nature. We interact with the local bush environment in the parkland and creek near Kindy. Being surrounded by nature and natural items provides infinite benefits to children. Nature instils in everyone a sense of beauty and calmness. It exposes us to things that are alive and growing and promotes curiosity and exploration. With an adult as a guide, children can learn about being gentle and respecting living things. - Flights of Whimsy

17.01.2022 What a busy & fun week we have ahead of us next week at Kindy! This week is Under 8s Week with the theme of Play, Playfulness, Engaged Learners. We are celebrating by creating some fun artworks & taking part in National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday 27th May at 11am. This year the book that has been chosen is called Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas by Lucinda Gifford. You can watch the story being read on ABC Kids if you are not at Kindy this day.... It is also National Reconciliation Week. We will be learning some songs, sharing a picnic morning tea, reading stories & making artworks. We plan to examine the Aboriginal flag & learn the significance of the colours. Our children will wear colours of the Aboriginal flag, perhaps we will make a flag made of children?! The theme for 2020 is In this together which is particularly fitting this year, & reminds us whether in a crisis or in reconciliation we are all In This Together.

16.01.2022 Meet our wonderful Educators... Mrs Shea Teacher/ Co-Director (Unit 1, Mon-Tues group) I have been Co-Director/Teacher at Jamboree Community Kindergarten since 2012.... I have been teaching in Early Childhood since I graduated from University many years ago! Each day that I spend teaching, playing and learning at JCK is a joy. The collaboration between educators, community and the children and families make JCK a fabulous kindergarten. I believe that children learn best through play, as empowered active learners. I love the journey and discoveries the educators and I take with the children that can be explored by a simple question, by bringing something of interest to share, by sharing a story, by wondering. My husband and I have two wonderful girls. As a family we enjoy playing board games, walking the dog and travel. I enjoy running (jogging!), reading and spending time with extended family.

15.01.2022 Can you guess the theme for our playground upgrade? Our playground is being updated in stages, the first is the rubber softfall under the swing set which has turned out AMAZING!!! ... The Kindy children have enjoyed watching the construction taking place, and testing out the new surface.

11.01.2022 Meet our amazing Educators... Mrs Tina Stannard Teacher (Unit 2, Mon-Tues group)... After graduating from University in 1992, I have been teaching at Jamboree Community Kindergarten since its beautiful purpose-built building was opened in July 1993. I feel extremely fortunate to have been part of the Jamboree Kindy Community for Twenty-seven years. I value the connections that I have made over the years with fellow staff, committee members, parents, the community and most importantly the children. Early Childhood teaching is all I have ever wanted to do, and I feel so lucky that my days at work are never the same, always fun, interesting, challenging and rewarding. Every day is a privilege to share in childrens joys, interests, achievements, and discoveries. I love keeping in touch with children as they continue their learning journey through school and beyond and it is always special when siblings return to the Kindy. My husband and I live in the Western suburbs with our two (all grown up) sons and two fur babies. We love travelling together, camping, fishing, long nature walks and spending time with our extended family and friends.

We focus on helping our children develop a wide range of essential skills that prepare them for their transition to school. We are passionate about our curriculum and support children to be curious, capable and collaborative learners.

02.01.2022 We are excited to welcome all of our families back to Kindy next week! A few quick reminders: Please email your teacher to confirm if your child will be attending Kindy next week. ... Children must be feeling well to attend Kindy. Unfortunately they cannot be at the centre if they have had a temperature above 38 degrees in the past 24 hours, or if they have been given fever reducing medication (paracetamol, nurofen etc.) Ensure you read through the updated Arrivals and Departures Procedure, and emails from your teacher. While it sounds a little overwhelming, we are all in this together and will work to find the best routines for our children and families. Please don't hesitate to call or email your class teacher if you have any further questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing you all soon!
