24.01.2022 We don't normally reach out like this but you may be aware there has been the tabling of the report into Misconduct within the Financial Services sector which... in part has recommended some sweeping changes to my industry, Mortgage Broking. To summarise, the Commissioner has recommended the phasing out of upfront and trailing commissions and the implementation of a fee for service in lieu. As a result, because the value of our business, not to mention our income, is derived from being paid for what we do, the future of 27,000 people employed in our industry is seriously at risk. With that comes the bankruptcies, unemployment and associated stresses on individuals and their families. If we are forced to have our clients pay upfront for our service, which most understandably wont want to do, it will lead to the power held by the Big 4 banks increasing and a severe drop in the level of competition that we bring to the table. Once this choice and the options diminish, we dont have to be Einsteins to figure out what decisions on fees and rates may be taken by the Banks, increases obviously. These are early days but we as an industry will be fighting for fairness from an individual and organizational position and as part of this will be reaching out to our clients and friends to support us. We will be presenting our case and supporting data to as many MPs and politicians from all sides of the spectrum and if you are so inclined to join us wed be eternally grateful. In the meantime we are determined to continue doing what we do in helping as many people as we can with their finances and show the value we bring to those we work for. Have a great day all, thanks for listening. Justin, James, Terry and Tayla. See more

17.01.2022 Ben was a larrikin. He loved being out on the water, surfing with his mates. On Tuesday May 31, 2016, Ben Gerring suffered a fatal shark bite at his local surf ...break, Gearies Beach in Falcon. Ben made it the 250 meters to shore. Fellow surfers, some leaving the safety of the beach, paddled to Bens side - helping to keep his head above the waves. They paddled towards danger, they put themselves at risk. They were heroes. Paramedics rushed to Ben as fast as they could. However, confusion about Bens exact location led to a delay in response time. To prevent this in the future, Bens brother Rick initiated the BEN sign program. Each BEN sign has a unique code. A Beach Emergency Number, to help emergency services pinpoint the exact location of serious incidents on our coastline. To date, we have put up over 500 BEN signs along WAs coast. And since being installed, there has been 159 requests for assistance using BEN signs. A fitting legacy for a man who loved the ocean.

11.01.2022 The WA economy grew by 9 per cent last year, according to CommSec. Iron ore was the main driver behind this exciting growth. Our population is growing too, than...ks to the surge in mining jobs of late. Let's hope it's not too much longer before the broader WA economy will soon begin to experience the knock on effect of this resources surge. See more
