25.01.2022 UPDATE: Nah, I got nothing. Focus is still on counting mayoral votes, so hopefully some of your pre-poll votes for councillors will be counted tomorrow.
24.01.2022 Redland City Council services and facilities are affected by COVID19:
21.01.2022 COVID-19 is impacting lots of us, in many different ways. For those people whose jobs are affected, here are some new opportunities:
20.01.2022 I'm really grateful for the strong local support I've received in this campaign - thanks to Tim, Julie, John, Marjorie and Matt for sharing my message at roadsides across Capalaba this morning!
20.01.2022 Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce has been working to keep spirits high and attract assistance to Redlands Coast businesses during the COVID-19 crisis. This Facebook group has been created to share business stories, good news and wins, any jobs that may be available, opportunities in our city. As the Chamber says, we need to let our community know we ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS within the boundaries that have been put in place to keep us all healthy!
20.01.2022 Council elections are going ahead this week. If you haven't already voted, please consider voting early - voting centre at Capalaba library is open until 9pm today and 6pm tomorrow (Friday). More info at www.jamesfarrell.com.au/early-polling.html

16.01.2022 It's important we all know the easy actions we can take in our own lives to slow the spread of #covid-19 This poster from Australian Red Cross is colourful, concise, informative, and available to download in a range of languages. Available from www.redcross.org.au/coronavirus
16.01.2022 So, this agreement (which was supposed to keep voters and workers safe) lasted barely 24 hours. Disappointing.
14.01.2022 Please Vote 1 James Farrell for a strong community voice for Division 9 (Capalaba, Sheldon and parts of Thornlands), Redland City Council. My key commitments: Basic services Balanced planning... Good governance Revitalising Capalaba Find out more at James Farrell
13.01.2022 Friends, it looks like I won't be your next councillor. With over 60% of votes counted at lunchtime today, it's still a close race (too close to call), but I'm certain it's game over for me. Thanks to everyone that supported my campaign - it's been an amazing experience, and it's been great to share it with my friends and my community. Thanks so much everyone!
12.01.2022 UPDATE: Counting pre-polls for Division 9 is unlikely to start today. I've been scrutineering at the counting centre this morning, where ECQ staff are focused on counting early votes (pre-polls) for mayoral candidates. Once that's done, they'll move to council candidates. Realistically, I don't think they'll even start counting for Division 9 today. I'll let you know if there's any update - please send your positive vibes!!
11.01.2022 Playgroup QLD has launched a new Facebook group to keep families, carers and educators sharing and connecting virtually during this time of social isolation. It encourages all families with young children and educators to share ideas and feedback with each other. Together let’s virtually turn the world of play on its head! [Disclosure: I'm joining the Playgroup QLD board.]
09.01.2022 There are so many people to thank for supporting me through this campaign: Everyone who shared my message, on the streets, in letterboxes, on your social media, and with your friends. The brains trust, who provided advice and guidance to this election campaign noob. People who hosted signs in their yards - a very public display of your support. Those people that trusted me with their vote.... My biggest supporters and inspiration, Amanda, Jack and Georgie. Thanks so much for your support, guidance and good humour!
08.01.2022 Polls have closed, votes are being counted, and it's tight. Only about 2,000 people (out of 11,266 enrolled voters) attended the three booths in Division 9 today, and three different candidates have provisionally won each of those three booths. There's not much we can take out of those results, and it'll come down to postal votes, pre-polling and (maybe?) telephone votes, and may take some time for a winner to be announced. Thanks for your continuing support - it's been a great experience. I'll let you know when we know more!
06.01.2022 Elections are going ahead this weekend. Here's some advice from Electoral Commission of Queensland about keeping safe at polling places on Election Day (this Saturday!).
05.01.2022 Have you noticed many changes?
