24.01.2022 Further to my recent post on this site; I still have a few copies of my book left for sale. I have said it before but I re-iterate it is both a story of my personal journey to 'excellent' health and fitness as well as having as a 'bonus' some great recipes that have all the taste you could wish for as well as being much healthier for you. I am 71, 68 in my photo and am even healthier and fitter than three years ago. Most people take me for a man in his mid 50's to early 60''. I did it and so can you! Check out my web page: jamesmiddletonmurray.com. Yours in good health, James. P.S. there is also a 'kindle' version available in most English speaking Countries.

19.01.2022 Dear followers, it's been a long, very long time since I posted on this page. No excuse perhaps, but I have been busy speaking to a number of live audiences abo...ut another passion of mine 'illicit' drugs and why they should be legalized. So back to my other passion: health and wellbeing; 'ageing well'. I have just returned from a cruise which was great but also opened my eyes to the 'obesity' epidemic. Let me explain. Some 2,600 passengers shared the cruise with me; not for me, but with me. The important thing to note is as follows: the demographic was a mixture of all ages, from the very young to quite a number of males and females older than me (I am now 71). Without exception those my age and older were thin! Of those who were between the ages of 30 to 60 more than half were either very overweight, many 'morbidly' obese! I spoke to many of my fellow passenegers, so wasa able to make the folllowing conclusion. The 'youngsters (under 60's) did not do any exercise at all, drank excessive amounts of alcohol and ate mainly foods high in sugar. Those my age and older, tended to walk a lot, not drink much if anyalcohol and had very little sugar foods. So my message to you all is if you want to live into your 70's and beyond, exercise every day, limit your alcohol intake, don't smoke and avoid sugar. Of course I would encourage those of you that haven't already done so to consider purchasing my book: 'Ageing Well' which is both my personal journey to better health and a 'how to' age well yourselves. Thanks, James See more

17.01.2022 Today I want to remind my followers of the great lie we have all been sold about the health benefits of a 'low fat' diet. Low fat is BAD! Why? because the fat that is removed is replaced by sugar; a lot of research has demonstrated just how bad sugar, especially added sugar is for our health. It is the main contributor to type 2 diabetes and what many scientists are now calling type 3 diabetes (dementia). You are what you eat people. I can't recommend too highly the book by Jonny Bowden: 'the 150 healthiest foods on earth'. Of course I must recommend that you give serious consideration to purchasing my book: 'Ageing Well'; available in hard copy as well as an 'e' book on amazon, as I have detailed before. (See previous posts). Thanks people and stay well.

13.01.2022 As promised here is my much abreviated list of ten best healthy foods and condiments for must haves in your diet: Avocado, Broccoli, 'wild caught' salmon, walnuts,(most nuts really), eggs, lentils, oats, cherries, chick peas, tumeric; okay that's eleven, I know but... Just one more: try cinnamon as a sweetener in your food it is one of the forgotten superfoods, able to accelerate your metabolic rate for hours after consumption; possibly the best weight loss foodstuff of all. Have a happy and healthy day, James.

11.01.2022 I keep getting asked the question what are the healthy food stuffs and what foodstuffs are best avoided. To answer the second part of the question first, you should avoid sugar, deadliest drug of all, and trans fats; trans fats are the main ingredient in for instance: pastries, cakes and potato chips. Sugar is added to low fat milk to give some taste, a better alternative would be to over time add more and more water to full fat milk. Start at say 10% and over time you can ge...t to say 40%. You will get the benefit of a lower fat product and if you do it progressivley you will not notice the difference in taste. Healthy foodstuffs are made of many things but 'good' fats are one. They include Nuts, 'greek yoghurt' and avocado; yep avocado is a fat. Tomorrow I will give you my short list (ten) healthy foods, that you should include in your diet. Good Health, James. See more
