23.01.2022 On any normal Saturday morning, agents, sellers and buyers are gearing up for a day of inspections. Today however, it is predicted that things will start to change. It is comforting, yet sobering to hear that REA Group (realestate.com.au) will soon be allowing customers to re-list and re-upgrade existing property listings for free. This is in obvious anticipation that marketing campaigns will be impacted over the weeks, and potentially months to come. Attendance at inspecti...ons will be reduced for two reasons. As people are told to stay home less people will prioritize inspecting real estate, and most importantly a considerable percentage of the population are or will no longer be in a position to buy real estate or own property. This being said, there will be opportunities for the cash-rich to buy with less competition. It is yet to be seen how property prices/values will be affected. See more

21.01.2022 Open property inspections are a thing of the past, for the foreseeable future. Today, the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) called on real estate agents across Australia to make "significant changes" to the way they conduct open home inspections and public auctions. REIA president Adrian Kelly said: "The deliberate organising of a gathering of people by a real estate agent flies in the face of the directives of the Prime Minister. To continue to arrange unmodifie...d public open homes and auctions is clearly irresponsible. One-on-one private inspections by appointment must become the norm, he said, coupled with appropriate safeguards recommended by health authorities. Personally I had ceased non one-on-one inspections as of Saturday last week in anticipation of the now-current public health circumstances.
