24.01.2022 Why apartment balconies leak - Poor design and / or people in the construction chain changing the design to save money and pocket the savings / re-coup losses. Bottom line those who know good design and can enforce it (architects) are being cut-out by those who want to make more $$ and who label the architects as too expensive. Who pays in the end big-time? The unsuspecting apartment buyer. Done right from the start may seem to be costly, but it saves everyone from expensive after effects of poor design and / or construction. The $$ focused / ignorant / fraudulent culprits need to be made accountable. Thanks to Ross Taylor Associates for this excellent expose.

23.01.2022 When the energy crisis in 1973 occurred, E F Schumacher wrote a book "Small is Beautiful - Economics as if people mattered". In the current COVID 19 crisis I am thinking even more about "Habitat Design as if people and the earth mattered"

08.01.2022 Found this unique "bubble house" at Karalee for sale. Curvy buildings are not easy to achieve, but this example looks impressive, at least from this drone camera viewpoint...

08.01.2022 People considering a one off building project can end up with a building designer when they thought they had an architect. The Board of Architects in Qld is actively prosecuting anyone who gives the impression of being an architect or providing architectural services without the required registration. If you think you can't afford an architect or don't know what an architect does why not at least get a proposal for your project?

07.01.2022 Office interiors can be more interesting places to work. My practise is to create the visualisation in 3D "in-house". By creating the realistic visualisation the design can be refined interactively.

06.01.2022 Design makes the difference to the quality and the cost of a project. Design is about striking the right balance between cost and quality. Every client has a different balance to strike.

06.01.2022 A sensible long overdue change.
