22.01.2022 Jamestown crews have had a busy start to this extreme fire weather day. Listen to local radio, and keep an eye on the CFS website or Facebook page for updated information. www.cfs.sa.gov.au

19.01.2022 Jamestown hosted an OBAOC (Operate Breathing Apparatus Open Circuit) course over the weekend. Trainees were put through their paces to become qualified breathing apparatus wearers. For anyone who is unaware, Jamestown has a custom made shed (built by brigade members), which can be heated and filled with smoke to simulate a structure fire. The walls inside are movable, and are changed up part way through a breathing apparatus course, so the trainees can't rely on memory to ...get them through the structure. The shed is used by brigade members for training purposes, but also for courses like this where CFS trainers and trainees come from other parts of the state to use the facility.

08.01.2022 Please take care on the roads this Easter weekend. We would prefer to leave the road crash rescue gear on the truck and stay at home and eat Easter eggs. Stay safe and have a happy Easter, from all of us at Jamestown CFS.

05.01.2022 MEET THE FIREFIGHTER Dukey (Paul Duke) Rank:... Lieutenant 1 Roles: Firefighter, Brigade Equipment Coordinator, Logistics Officer - Incident Management Team, Strike team leader What are you trained in? Firefighting, Road crash rescue, Incident Management and First aid including advanced resuscitation Years of service in the CFS? 35 years Why did you join the CFS? When my wife and I moved to Balaklava, for a short period, I wanted to join a community group to meet people and CFS sounded the most interesting organization to join. What is your every day job? Just retired as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic and my wife and I own Jamestown Villas What do you like most about firefighting? Helping people when they really need it but most of all the lifelong friends I have made not only in the Brigade but also within the wider CFS community What is your favourite memory as a volunteer? There’s been a lot, from fighting bushfires in Sydney in 1994 to Pinery in 2015, but probably leading a strike team to the Wangary fire on the first night was my most satisfying achievement. The shear destruction of that fire was unbelievable but with the huge effort of my team we were finally able to bring it under control.

04.01.2022 Our crews were responded to a structure fire at Caltowie North at around 10pm last night, and spent close to 5 hours on the scene. Thankfully there were no physical injuries but our thoughts are with the property owners. All 10 members of our brigade are looking forward to a few hours sleep before their day jobs in a few hours time.

02.01.2022 Thinking of everyone in the community as we face lockdown over the next six days. Remember to check in on each other via phone or social media. We'll get through this together! https://7news.com.au//sa-covid-restrictions-lockdown-for-a

02.01.2022 Our hard working crews are on their way back from the HAZMAT at Orroroo where they had to isolate chlorine cylinders in a water treatment plant, and ventilate the building due to a leak. Some of them have been up most of the night with the vehicle accident as well, so an afternoon nap and/or a lot of very strong coffee will be the order of the day!
