13.01.2022 Hi all Futsal Families, It is with regret that we let you know that Season 2020 for Jamestown Futsal is suspended until further notice. This is in line with the tighter regulations that the Federal Government announced on Sunday night closing all indoor sporting facilities, which includes the Big Shed. (Message from the Council about the Big Shed below.) When these, and other restrictions are lifted, and it is deemed safe for all participants, we will consider what options w...e have for playing some kind of games then. In the meantime stay safe, do your social distancing and follow the government’s advice as listed at the bottom of James’ email. The Jamestown Futsal Committee Jamestown & District Soccer Association Box 356 Jamestown SA 5491 [email protected] Message about Big Shed closure. Hi all, It is with some sadness that I’ve had to pass on the news that the Regional Sports Stadium (Big Shed) has been closed in accordance with a directive from the Australian Government regarding all Indoor Sporting Venues Nationwide. This relates to both any coordinated sporting activity aswell as any casual use of the facilities. The Australian Government has directed that this shall be a full closure, so even instances of someone wanting to shoot hoops or bowl a cricket ball on their own or with a few friends aren’t permitted until further advice is given from the Government. We really can’t afford to have that occur, no matter what view point people may have, it has been mandated from Canberra and we certainly don’t want to see people being penalised for breaching this directive. At the end of the day this is a public health issue, not a sporting issue and we have no choice but to comply. Can people please pass this message on to those within their clubs, to ensure people understand the reasoning. Sadly there’s been instances of people ignoring directive’s in other areas of some communities across Australia, which may have been a contributor toward the recently announced tighter controls. If people wish to seek further information about Covid-19 please click on this link from the Australian Department of Health https://www.health.gov.au Thanks, James Lang Manager, Community Development Northern Areas Council

10.01.2022 Hi All, As you are aware the Australian Government is working with the people of Australia to give our most vulnerable people and our Health System a fighting chance against the corona virus COVID-19. Besides good hygiene practices, the best way to slow down the spread of this virus is social distancing, which is leading to the cancellation of major and minor events around Australia.... As of midnight tonight FFA has suspended all grassroots activities until the 14th April. This includes all games and training sessions across all levels of the sports of soccer and futsal. For us here at Jamestown Futsal that means all pre-season training is now cancelled. The Committee will continue to plan as if the season will start as normal in late April, but are fully expecting this may not happen either resulting in a late start to the season or a complete cancelation of the season as the Government and FFA advises. As how this fast moving situation will unfold is a complete unknown at this stage, we are suggesting the following - that if you / your child would play under normal circumstance please still register - but do not pay any fees until the season actually begins (save trying to refund monies from cancelations or different fee for a shorter season). We would like you to still register so that if the season starts on time, or slightly delayed we can have everything (teams, program etc.) ready to go very quickly. We will keep you advised as we act on the latest advice from the Australian Government, FFA and FSA. The Jamestown Futsal Committee Jamestown & District Soccer Association Box 356 Jamestown SA 5491 [email protected]

09.01.2022 Hi All Families involved in pre-season training, Today we received advise from Football SA (FSA) and the Football Federation of Australia (FFA) that as part of the ongoing community effort to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 all training across all levels of the game are to be suspended for the next 14 days. This means no futsal training for your children on Friday 27th March.... As this is a continual changing situation, as the advise changes we will let you know what is happening with further training sessions.

01.01.2022 Dear Futsal Families, What a year 2020 is turning out to be! After much discussion the Committee has made the disappointing but necessary decision to cancel the 2020 Jamestown Futsal Season. ... We thank you for your patience and understanding as we, like many others, work our way through the new COVID Safe environment and all the challenges involved. The Committee had to take into account many issues when making this decision including - that we do not yet have a date for when the Big Shed will be open; the state is yet to announce a date for when contact indoor sport competition may resume and when this happens, if more than 20 people would be allowed in the Shed at a time; the level of extra work our small group of volunteers would have to undertake to meet with COVID Safe requirements, to keep everyone in our community safe. We are looking forward to a bigger and better 2021 Season! The Jamestown Futsal Committee
