18.01.2022 *Buckle in, this is a bit of a long one* Just like making alterations for treatments and products for soon-to-be-mummas, it's important for us to be aware of any prescription meds you're on to ensure the work we do in-clinic is aligned with any efforts by your GP or Dermatologist. The relationship between medication and skin comes in different ways..... 1. Medication can be prescribed for skin conditions and concerns that require further medical intervention. These will usually require you to present to a dermatologist for medications such as oral vitamin a, known as Accutane or Isotretinoin, which treats persistent acne. You are still able to come in for treatments when on medication for your skin, we will just have to adjust our plan to accomodate your skin and it's sensitivities. 2. Side affects from medications not prescribed to necessarily solve a skin concern can sometimes cause new skin issues. i.e the oral contraceptive, and other hormone therapies. (How fun are hormones by the way?! Right?!) Altering your medication may solve your new skin woe, but is definitley a conversation you need to have with your GP. It's essential for our team to be privy to some medications you're on, so we can treat your skin in a holistic manor. This ensures we're not interfering with efforts by your healthcare professionals but actually supporting them with a multi faceted approach. Often internal efforts and topical treatments work wonderfully in unison to help solve chronic skin conditions. If you'd like to discuss this in more depth, we would be honoured to chat further. 11.01.2022 Feeling like 2020 has aged you about a decade? Yep, same. If there is one thing we’ve learnt we can rely on this year, it’s our friend Vitamin A. Vitamin A is a ‘gold standard’ ingredient in the world of anti-ageing.... It normalises skin function in so many areas, many which diminish as we age. It is the hardest working age management ingredient, helps with texture, pigmentation and is probably the only skincare active that has any chance of reversing the toll 2020 has had on our faces. 11.01.2022 Honoured to have another cheeky mention on this week’s episode of Beauty IQ the podcast, by our besties over at Adore Beauty When the gals came in for their post Iso facial, James suggested Hannah retire her Refine Plus (due to over doing retinoids over lockdown tsk tsk), swap it for the gentle little sister Refine, and start using the plus on her chest until it was suitable for her face again. This suggestion raises a very valid point..... If you’re feeling a little sensitive from the use of actives on the face, or have some leftover quality product that now falls outside of your face repertoire, the neck may be the perfect place to apply the prod. Of course with everything, we recommend asking us before altering your prescribed at home skincare system. That being said the neck and dec may be the ideal place to use some of that retinol (like Refine Plus above) that your face can’t tolerate at the moment. We’re humbled and honoured to have taken out Eco Salon of the Year for 2020 at this year's @myfacemybodywebsite awards.
