21.01.2022 At last night’s Clarence City Council meeting my motion on RID (Reduce Illegal Dumping) Squads was unanimously supported by fellow alderman in the council chamber. I would like to thank them for their support. In NSW RID Squads are jointly funded by councils and the EPA to tackle illegal dumping in regions across council boundaries. The State Government recently released a draft Waste Action Plan which includes a waste levy. In order for the levy not to just become another ta...x I believe the plan should set out intended priorities for the revenue raised. A key priority should be tacking illegal dumping by funding RID Squads. You can find out more about the draft Waste Action Plan through this link below. I encourage people to make submissions on the draft plan. https://dpipwe.tas.gov.au/environmental-m/waste-action-plan

20.01.2022 Plenty of great bikes for sale this morning at the Risdon Vale Bike Collective including some excellent mountain bikes. Pick up a good bike for a good price and support this great local initiative.

14.01.2022 Congratulations to all who participated in Clean up Australia Day. Another great effort by Limekiln Point Land Care Group today. Not treading on a wasp nest and getting bitten on the posterior (unlike 2019) was also a bonus.

02.01.2022 Over the past fortnight property owners in Clarence should have received a letter with an updated property value (land value, AAV and Capital Value) from the Valuer General. The valuation process is independent and seperate from Council. As Clarence incorporates Capital Value (CV) when setting the rates this is the most relevant component for Clarence ratepayers.... Ratepayers have 60 days from receiving the notice to lodge an objection if they believe the Valuer General has got it wrong and overshot the mark. More information can be found at this link https://dpipwe.tas.gov.au//objecting-to-a-statutory-valuat
