23.01.2022 The gig bookings are starting to slowly come back in now restrictions have eased. This Friday 19 June I'll be performing at Bouvard's Lazy Crab from 6.30-9.30pm. The weather should have cleared up by then, so a couple of relaxing drinks and some music might be just what you need at the Lazy Crab to end the working week. *Note: I won't be wearing makeup...

16.01.2022 Last night I played at a lovely vineyard for a Christmas function and today I’m heading back to Murphy’s for a good old Sunday session from 2pm.

14.01.2022 Three years ago I was lucky enough to play guitar for Little Pattie when she came to Launceston. Not many gigs freak me out but this one was pretty terrifying. Like a lot of rock and roll guitar players I don’t read music or read charts while playing but we were all handed charts when she arrived Saturday morning. We had one rehearsal in the afternoon and the show was that night but fortunately I’d been doing my research and found a video of a recent show so I learned what w...as on that and most of the songs matched what we were given. The place was packed and Patti knew what she wanted and how it had to sound but despite my lack of chart reading ability I got through it just fine. Everything was in the style our bands had been playing so it wasn’t too hard to get a feel for the material. I preferred the idea too that the musicians should learn songs rather than have the heads buried in charts, particularly for energetic rock and roll. Little Patti was a lovely lady and very supportive and encouraging of the band. It was great experience and one I’m fortunate to have had.

11.01.2022 Please don't ask to sit in.... I've been meaning to write about this for the past couple of years but never got around to it. Now seems like the perfect time. As a working musician it's my job (and it is a job) to turn up to a venue to play songs between an allocated time slot. Just the like anyone else who attends a conventional job, I have set hours of work and set working conditions. I start at a particular time and I finish at a particular time. This idea makes perfect se...Continue reading
