20.01.2022 Blocking. Scrubbing. Smear. Scratch. Wipe. Mark. Remove. A new body of work evolving. Sometimes I’m impatient and the thought of labouring over each piece until it’s finely finished leaves me frustrated and uninterested. I treat some paintings like a passing thought or memory. Sometimes they are best left unresolved or blurred.... #westernaustralianart #westernaustralianartist #art #painting #monochromatic #landscapepainting #memory #dividedstate #bodyofwork #artexhibition #mandurahartist #painting @ Mandurah, Western Australia

20.01.2022 Last week of Divided State.

17.01.2022 Remember Babylon. Currently on show at CASM. Cardboard tube, pencil, Huon Pine, photograph, toy airplane and unrecorded hidden objects 168x25x15cm It didn’t take much for our world to start to shift, and it didn’t take much to reveal our vulnerabilities.... We all felt it and we all reacted, shrinking inside ourselves, this was inevitable, it was too big and we didn’t see it coming. After the shock we managed to compose ourselves and gather our senses; then after some time, everything started to regain clarity. The crisis amplified our fears and created a new pattern of language and behaviours. I gathered defences and readied the barricades in anticipation of the havoc to come, but it’s yet to come. At least for now anyway. Please note: If reading from the catalogue ignore punctuation error. There should be no exclamation mark at end of statement. #rememberbabylon #installation #covid19 #taa #mandurahartist #westernaustrianartist #tasmanianartist #dc9

17.01.2022 A few recent plein air works completed in my trusty watercolour journal. I’m not a disciplined watercolourist and don’t follow any of the rules e.g. working light to dark, and I pretty much can’t stand having to carefully paint around the areas I want to leave as white paper so the works have a subdued, muddy palette, which suit my colour sensibilities well. #watercolour #watercoloursketch #pleinairpainting #pleinair #artjournal #visualdiary #westernaustralianart #westernaustralianartist #mandurah #peelregion #iaintnowatercolormaster #mutedpalette @ Mandurah, Western Australia

09.01.2022 No rest indeed!

03.01.2022 Detail from work in progress. I’ve always been attracted to a mechanical/industrial aesthetic. I like the geometric interruption of space and place, and I enjoy how these objects soften to embed themselves into the landscape over time. My solo show Divided State opens on October 9 at CASM.... #dividedstate #landscapepainting #landscapepainter #mandurahartist #westernaustralianartist #tasmanianartist #launcestonartist #cementworks #industriallandscape #painting #art #contemporarypainting #monochromatic #monochrome #howmuchartcanyoutake #arteveryday
