19.01.2022 BREAKING: EPA BACKFLIPS ON ENVIRONMENTAL DUMPING OF SOIL IN BACCHUS MARSH! EPA has admitted that it was wrong and did not have the legal grounds to approve a pl...an to dump the contaminated WGTP soil in Bacchus Marsh days before being due to appear in the Supreme Court. The EPA's principal solicitor has stated that "The Environmental Management Plan submitted by Maddingley Brown Coal did not address all of the matters set out in new EPA regulations governing tunnel-boring soil" This is a MASSIVE win for the Bacchus Marsh community, however the fight is not over. Tomorrow, a motion will be put before the legislative council to overturn Minister Richard Wynne's planning approval to dump the toxic soil in our community. We are calling on all members to stand up and put the health and safety concerns of our community first! 07.01.2022 There has been some disruption to kerbside bin collection and as a result contractor JJ Richards & Sons will be starting their collections an hour earlier than ...usual each weekday from now until 5 December 2020 to ensure that all properties have their bins emptied. There will also be Saturday collections for those properties whose bins haven’t been collected that week. Wyndham City wants to reassure residents that their bins will continue to be emptied each week although they may be emptied later in the day than usual, or on the following day. We ask residents to please put out their bins the night before their normal collection day and to leave their bins there until emptied. If your bin is already out, please leave it on the kerbside until it has been emptied. Our Waste Management and Disposal team is working closely with JJ Richards & Sons to ensure that all kerbside bins are emptied each week. Council has awarded a new kerbside waste collection contract to Cleanaway, who will take over from JJ Richards & Sons on 7 December 2020. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience

03.01.2022 Victoria - Do you know how much of your food comes from Bacchus Marsh? The farmland from Bacchus Marsh to Werribee grows: - 83% of Victoria's cauliflower - 53% ...of Victoria's broccoli - 34% of Victoria's lettuce - 11% of Victoria's cereal grains and oil crops - 8% of Victoria's legumes - 4% of Victoria's fruit Bacchus Marsh also produces 13% of the Melbourne Food Bowl's pigs, 4% of its sheep and 2% of its meat cattle. The dangers of PFAS have been well-established worldwide. Even the "low levels" expected to be found in the West Gate Tunnel soil can bioaccumulate in humans and the environment. Even without living in Bacchus Marsh, your exposure from the food grown nearby can put you at risk of developing various cancers and health defects. (By the way, the Age exposed the "low levels" to be 2000x the safe limit for consumption) If the West Gate Tunnel soil comes to Maddingley, how can we be sure that our food is safe? Do we REALLY trust the government, the EPA and the companies investing money into this project to put the health of our communities ahead of their financial interests?
