24.01.2022 Here's something that took me a long time to learn, and it's something I'm still learning: to be completely OK with not being liked by certain people. The other day when a woman I once worked with saw me but didn't say hello, my instant reaction was to be annoyed. "What is wrong with her?", I thought. Soon, my thoughts changed to, "Maybe there's something wrong with me?" That fact is, I can't be for everyone, neither can you. Sometimes it's best to recognise when we're upse...t over things we can't change, and that don't really matter, and choose to let it go. It's human to be annoyed when people don't behave the way we'd like them to. We can't choose our instant reaction, but we can choose how long we let it affect us. Being selfish about how we feel is one of the most powerful acts of self-care.
23.01.2022 What we refer to as 'fate' can often be a consequence of our choices, or lack thereof.
22.01.2022 Note to self: Be like Helen.
21.01.2022 This post may bother a few people, and that's not my intention. But I think it's important to say: please don't ask your friends if they're OK just because it's R U OK Day. The reason? Your friends, family, and colleagues who are going through some tough shit don't want you to ask just because it's the designated day to ask. It can come across as a bit of a box-ticking exercise, no matter how well-intentioned. ... What to do instead: Use the day to remind you to: pay attention to the people around you always, not just today to ask the hard questions when the time is right, and to listen without judgment more than you offer advice. During Mental Health Awareness Month (in October) I'll be sharing some short videos on how to tell if someone is not doing OK, how to approach the conversation, and what to do if you get an answer you aren't expecting. Keep an eye out, and be well!
21.01.2022 We often hear about how our body needs a lot of lovin’ and attention. We are told we need to eat a certain amount of fruit and veggies each day, we need to move a certain number of steps, we need to get enough sleep, and the list goes on. But what about our minds? (Just a thought ) ... https://jamiestedman.net//shape-up-your-mind-for-good-men/
21.01.2022 It's not other people's responsibility to change themselves or to act in ways that are pleasing to you. Your opportunity for growth is to pay attention to YOU.
20.01.2022 If you’re like me, the task of trying to meditate sitting cross-legged and clearing your mind of thoughts is more than a little frustrating. The analogy I like to use (Psst: I stole this from someone else, but I can’t remember who), is that it’s akin to trying to push a peanut up Mt Everest with your nose. https://jamiestedman.net//is-meditation-good-for-mental-h/
19.01.2022 One of the smallest words we have, and yet it's the most powerful. (Quote by Craig Harper - he knows stuff.)

11.01.2022 It's not all champagne and bubble baths.
11.01.2022 Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom. YES. That's it. That is all for today. #mindfulmonday

09.01.2022 If you could go back in time, what would you tell your 15-year-old self? For me it would be: (1) embrace who you are rather than building a false self, because one day your softness will be your strength. ... (2) drop the barriers... they don't protect you, they make you an arsehole. (3) appreciate your hair while you have it.
08.01.2022 Thoughts and emotions aren't facts. #Justsayin #MondayThoughts

01.01.2022 If you are not your job, your house, your car, your kids' accomplishments, your body, how much money you have, your religion or beliefs... then who the hell are you? I think 'You' are that which gets to choose. 'You' get to choose the way you think, feel and act. You get to choose what is important. ... The good thing is, because you are 'the chooser' (this sounds like an action hero), it means you can always choose differently, and choose again. Have a great day! #deepforafriday
