25.01.2022 It’s frustrating from the view of the players reading this article. This illustrates the difficulties the players have faced during the last 8 weeks. For @footballfedaus to make an offer of this amount after holding @foxfootballaus for 3 weeks makes it challenging for all to resume the competition. Importantly, there needs to be clarity relating to the calculation of $5.7 million which typically goes to players’ wages , in contrast we are to receive less than $2million. In su...mmary, more needs to be done by all stakeholders to secure the short-term and longevity of our game. We owe it to the footballing supporters of Australia to get it right and resume our competition. As stakeholders of Australian football it is our obligation to secure the the short term and safe guard the longevity of our game in this country. This offer does not reflect this notion. #JY21 @aleague @sbstheworldgame @ftbl_au @foxfootballaus @thepfa @brisbaneroarfc See more
25.01.2022 Team of the Week August 3-8th alongside @scott_mcdonald10 . A special player but an even better person. Thank you @aleague #JY21 @brisbaneroarfc @theonegloveco
24.01.2022 Here’s an article in today’s @couriermail . I talk about the things I do outside of playing football including my love for academia, learning and helping others (thank you @wyiaustralia and @mdaqld for including me in your family) and how I can contribute to football in Australia for the future. I talk about the culture @brisbaneroarfc and how I can relate to this after playing in england for 13 years. Football has a completely different dynamic when you put relegation int...o the mix as it influences contracts, mortgages, and livelyhoods. Not many people know this but I spent the last year living in England without a club and largely without a job while I finished my undergraduate degree. I even turned down signing for an old club because I was more fascinated learning about human genomics and at that time it made me happy and that’s all that mattered. Even in those moments I felt I was right where I needed to be. I’ve always tried to be my own man and be as authentic as possible, without following too many trends. To be now the only elite athlete in Australia doing a PhD @uniofqld I am optimistic that I can use that for something more than just me. Time will tell but for now it’s about enjoying the journey not the destination #JY21
24.01.2022 We're back this weekend!
24.01.2022 Come on the boys!!!
23.01.2022 Thank you to @thealeague for voting me their save of the week Round 24 vs @melbournecity @brisbaneroarfc @theonegloveco @onegloveaus #jy21
23.01.2022 It’s not just about the team, it’s about the people. #JY21 @brisbaneroarfc
23.01.2022 Thanks to @advancedkeepers for posting this save from me a few years ago vs @newcastlejetsfc . The enigmatic @daniel.georgievski thought he had me with a terrific effort but fortunately I managed to keep it out. #JY21 https://www.instagram.com/p/B3_gvB4gePG/
23.01.2022 Thank you for your support World Youth International!!!
22.01.2022 Looking forward to our game vs the Gladstone Select today. We’ve had a good week of working on getting into the right physical condition, working on our team play, and giving back to the community of Gladstone. Thanks to @gladstoneregionalcouncil for making our stay so enjoyable. The people up here are just salt of the earth and hopefully we’ve been able to showcase our @brisbaneroarfc culture here to inspire the younger generation. #JY21
22.01.2022 Last week we had the privilege to travel to Gladstone to showcase our @brisbaneroarfc culture and football. It was definitely a lot of hard work but it’s great to meet people who don’t always see what we do in person. A big thanks to @gladstoneregionalcouncil for accommodating us and for looking after us so well. ... Gladstone you are beautiful people, thank you for your time, attention, and support. #JY21
22.01.2022 Tomorrow I'm delighted to present at the Welcome Sports festival. This is something that is dear to me considering I am a son of migrant parents and an athlete. It is true, sport can be used as a vehicle to break down barriers between people and cultures... Why? Because it is relatable. At the end of the day we are all humans and we have this innate need to belong and be accepted by our peers for who we are as humans no matter where we're from. We all have a story, and sport can be part of that story. Got it?! #JY21
22.01.2022 Thank you to @aleague for voting me in their round 14 team of the week. Great to see @inman_16 making such a great impact in games and @macaulaygillesphey for his defence display @. #jy21 @theonegloveco @onegloveaus
19.01.2022 Today we play @wellingtonphoenix . As always I’m looking forward to representing this great club @brisbaneroarfc . Such an honour and privilege to play for the team I grew up in. Everyone has something to fight for in their lives and tonight is another opportunity to fight for that purpose. Let’s go! #JY21 @bautheaceric
19.01.2022 Here's an article that I did with the PFA recently. I reveal how the disappointments that I have faced on the field has lead me to a journey of learning and understanding and taken me around the world. I talk about my recent travels to Nepal and how those experiences compare with here in Australia. Finally I give advice on where young players could target to developing themselves most importantly as humans.
18.01.2022 Any young footballer in this country complaining about not getting an opportunity or blaming a coach for not playing them needs to consider people of less advantage than themselves. This is actually one of the most inspiring things I have seen in a long time, that this kid can’t even get around without a wheelchair but can juggle a ball better than me and there are young players in this country who struggle to go find a wall to develop their first touch because it might be ...hard work, or it might take effort. The thing I feel differentiates someone who does vs someone who complains is that they have the courage to find out how strong they can actually be. They’re not afraid to find out that they may actually be incompetent because they do not have a choice! As Eric Thomas said when you get to the point where all you want to be is successful as bad as you want to breathe, you’ll be successful. To any young kid reading this who may have had a setback, been dropped, released, faced criticism I say get over the fact that you might suck, that you might not be as good as you first thought and do something about it. Find out how far you’re willing to go, or let life hit you in the face like a truck. Welcome to life!!! #JY21
18.01.2022 Gary Wilkins Medal 2018/2019. When I came back home from England to sign for @brisbaneroarfc , I did so as a perceived 2nd choice keeper on a minimum wage via our GK coach @jasonkearton (thank you). Five years on and I’m so very proud to have won Brisbane Roar’s top award for the second year in a row. To be the only goalkeeper and to be alongside the likes of @matt_mckay17 @craigmoore_18 and Thomas Broich to win it twice is something I will always look at fondly, particularly... because they all played at a higher level than myself. With that said, I’ve always tried to be honest about my game as humbling as that is at times, I’ve enjoyed working hard, and in the darkest moments of my life I never gave up on myself. I’m grateful to play for this club and privileged to just do something I’m passionate about in my life which gives rise to purpose and meaning. There’s plenty more to come and I’m already looking towards representing this great club once again! Thank you #JY21 See more
18.01.2022 The @brisbaneroarfc guys kindly put together my Eight Save of the Round nominations, although I think they missed my other one vs Melbourne City. . Either way during this time it’s nice to be able to reflect on these saves. I know the days and months it takes to execute those moments. Where you constantly ask yourself whether you have it in you to produce those high standards or a moment of brilliance and when you do, it’s very satisfying. Enjoy my work and comment which one was your favourite, for me the top corner v Newcastle where I copped a head clash but had no choice but to get on with it. #JY21

17.01.2022 Gameday ca @melbournecity . Looking forward to respresenting the @brisbaneroarfc again. We’re gonna give it our best to represent ourselves and @brisbane against a good team. It’s always a challenge and those are the best things in life, to be challenged and to strive. We go again! #jy21
17.01.2022 Great win for us over the weekend vs a difficult @westernutdfc . They are hard to break down and pose the greatest striker in the history of the @aleague so to stop them from having a shot on target illustrates how good we were as a team. This picture shows me celebrating with our captain @tommyaldred and you can see the passion in our team. This is the uniqueness of sport where you have to work hard for those moments but are worth it when you get there. I think @djb___s is a little more composed than us #JY21 @brisbaneroarfc @theonegloveco @onegloveaus

16.01.2022 Again here is the Save of the Week Round 24. This time from @foxfootballaus awarding this one. @speedbrenton commentary was superb and glad he’s back doing a @brisbaneroarfc @thealeague game. 16.01.2022 Today we play @ccmariners in the @ffacup . Very much looking forward to representing @brisbaneroarfc again and these group of players . Come on the lads #JY21 #roarasone
16.01.2022 Save of the week 3 weeks in a row. All saves were a little different but as I say to aspiring keepers, goalkeeping is largely about putting yourself in the right position to make a save. Therefore, awareness and applied footwork is central. Positioning is everything in shot stopping, so it’s important to understand where and why you’d adopt a certain position (depth off line and width between goal posts). Thank you to @aleague for recognition. And one of my favourite bands growing up in high school @fearfactory . I’ve always liked hard rock/ heavy metal because of the tone of the guitars, powerful drum beats, and mostly because the music has depth to it. Enjoy! #JY21
16.01.2022 Gameday!!! So excited to get back to @suncorpstadium tonight vs a very good @sydneyfootballclub . Looking forward to representing @brisbaneroarfc , the people of @brisbaneand our state of QLD. Get down and support us!! #JY21
16.01.2022 This made me laugh so much, thank you @robblackburne for sending me this photo of 6 years ago. So this was taken outside my apartment in swindon, england where me and my buddy rob were going to do my practical assessment for my personal training course. Rob asked where my 1 series bmw was. I told him it unfortunately was written off (the day after I completed my Bsc sports science degree). I told him the father of a young goalkeeper I coached owned a fiat garage and lent me a... fiat 500. And so here we are, a big Sri Lankan gorilla footballer driving a baby blue fiat 500, wearing a @fearfactory tshirt from when I saw them in Bristol. I didn’t have a team at the time so was coaching to make ends meet, and spent all my time studying my dissertation, completing my PT course, and it’s during this time where coaching pricked you up my ears. #JY21 See more
16.01.2022 Looking forward to representing @brisbaneroarfc vs @newcastlejetsfc today. Always love representing the club and our city especially with these players and today is another opportunity to do that. #JY21

Donate at bit.ly/3fDCYKJ CALL 1300 692 772 Text HOPE to 0437371371 Real Talk: it’s easy for me to put up a picture of @masi_movement_asylum_seekers and say it’s world refugee day and to donate, but it’s not til I met people in the community of Brisbane through @multiculturalaustralia to hear of the challenges refugees and asylum seekers face such as racial,... cultural, political and religious persecution. I’ve met people who’ve had to flee their countries because they were of a certain religion and ive met people who come from countries of strict poverty. I’ve never had to worry about being an Anglican, or food, shelter, or clothing in my life. There are people out there who will never have the opportunities we have here in Australia. It’s just the way life is. If you can’t donate, keep a thought for the people who have to flee their countries because they have a different religion, or they maybe gay/lesbian, or perhaps because it’s so poor and war torn that it’s impossible to stay there. We all want a place to feel safe, accepted, and belong. #worldrefugeeday #jy21 See more
15.01.2022 Here’s some highlights in our recent game vs @ccmariners . It was a great win and it was personally fun to play against my old @readingfc teammate @jemkaracan21 . Good to see him doing great things in the @thealeague inhis short stint in Australia. Enjoy! #JY21 @theonegloveco @brisbaneroarfc
15.01.2022 Thank you to @aleague for voting me in their round 18 team of the week. Also well done to @tommyaldred and @scott_mcdonald10 for showing their class vs a very good @adelaideunited team. Thank you to our supporters for getting behind us, we truly appreciate it !! #JY21
15.01.2022 This time last year we held the inaugural Jamie Young Cup in Nepal at the @wyiaustralia school. For me personally, I didn’t think I’d ever have an opportunity to make a positive impact on that kind of scale, that is to change people’s lives. I think this hit home to me when those kids would peak out their windows to just see me and then I realised that Im doing something that matters to people. One of the best things I’ll do as human is to impact and leave something better fo...r others, and having this cup showed me the power of football. Unfortunately, these kids don’t have the infrastructure that we do in Australia. There’s no job keeper/job seeker and if they get ill there’s no Medicare either. Whatever our struggles are here in Australia, pales in comparison to these people. World Youth International are now collecting donations on behalf of the School and would really appreciate your support. All donations received are fully tax deductible and will allow this Australian charity to pay teacher’s wages, maintain the school grounds and prepare for the extra support the students may need when they return. Please open your hearts this @GivingTuesdayAUS and donate generously to https://worldyouth.org.au/donate #JY21 See more
15.01.2022 Here are some highlights or our season 2018/19. It wasn't the easiest of campaigns but I can honestly say that I gave it my best. Being a goalkeeper is a position that is testing at the best of times. This season pushed me and the everyone at the club mentally but it's how you deal with it and get back up from setbacks that matters. Enjoy!
14.01.2022 Today we play @perthgloryfc and we kick off our season. #JY21 @theonegloveco
13.01.2022 I am so pleased to see that around Australia, children are being able to return to school. Those that are unable to return to school have access to some amazing off-site learning programs so they can continue their studies. Unfortunately, children and their families from developing countries who have been impacted greatly by the pandemic do not have the same access and support that we do here in Australia. I am currently providing a World Youth International School scholarshi...p to a child in Nepal and have been advised that this School’s community is facing severe hardships. There are no government stimulus packages being offered and very few Nepali people are working. General expenses like food and fuel have tripled in price and families are really suffering. All schools have shut down and there is no infrastructure in place for children to be educated remotely through online learning programs. World Youth International are now collecting donations on behalf of the World Youth International School in Nepal and need your support. All donations received are fully tax deductible and will allow World Youth International to pay teacher’s wages so that these teachers can purchase food for their family, and prepare for the return of the students in the not too distant future. This @GivingTuesdayAUS, please open your hearts and donate generously via https://worldyouth.org.au/donate See more

12.01.2022 Thank you to @brisbaneroarfc fans for voting me their January player of the month. Great way to start 2020 but that’s not to take away the performances of the team as a collective. They’ve been fantastic and I really think we’ll get better and better. As always thanks to our fans, the lifeblood of our club. 12.01.2022 WE’RE BACK!!! #JY21
11.01.2022 This was 7 years ago when I played for @aldershottownfcofficial and feels like it was in a different life but it’s always nice to reminisce about those days. I left home at 15 to go to England and had no idea of what life was like or what to expect. That year I went to be player of the year and supporters player of the year . Some of the things I experienced were so different to that of a kid growing up in suburban Brisbane. They weren’t all great experiences, in fact s...ome were excruciating but that’s just how things go. I have absolutely no regrets about going and it made me grow as a person and live out of my comfort zone entirely. For me depth trumps width period, end of story. If you have no idea what I’m referring to then feel free to ask. But really it’s about doing to live in the present and experiencing what’s out there to find what is true . I think my biggest fear is not realising/extracting potential. I’m fortunate for opportunities but you need courage to pursue them in the face of fear. I’ve done a lot of failing and if I’m not failing, I’m not progressing..... got it?! It’s a bit of a double edged sword because there’s no excuse for me to be lazy anymore. I think that’s called accountability + self-disxipline . Anyway, @jack1metcalfe hey, one of the biggest challenges of my life at that time was living as a working class footballer, diving in mud year round, and having the best season of my career only to be dumped out of football. Thanks @ for putting this one up I Hope life is treating you well! #JY21
11.01.2022 Great performance from the guys last night. Really proud of the effort and mentality that everyone showed. The guys put their bodies on the line and it showed in the commitment and resolve that this team has. We know there is plenty of work to come and we keep striving for that. ... Here’s one of me and possibly the funniest man in our team @royodonovan taking a minute after the win. Special thanks to our sponsors @actron.air for watching a special win for the club and supporters! #JY21 #wegoagain See more
11.01.2022 Thank you to Hyundai A-League for nominating me in round 17 save of the week. Click on the link to visite @Hyundai A-League and vote in comments An awkward long distance shot from @ which swerved and dipped making it difficult for me to control a parry wide. When that happens I always try to parry with power so it’s more difficult to control a potential second shot. In this case my parry went straight to @ and the it might have been the difference between him being able ...to place it where he wants vs just getting a clean contact on it, thus losing the accuracy of the shot. That’s how it is in goalkeeping, it’s not perfect but attention to detail and understand the nuances are the things that can swing things in favour of a goalkeeper. #JY21
11.01.2022 Taking a moment to appreciate our supporters after our win vs @wswanderersfc . . Right now I’m thinking about the journey I’ve had with this club. The many ups and downs I’ve had as an athlete, it’s like a rollercoaster that you hate but you can’t get off because it’s so addictive. The uniqueness of being in the present moment in front of thousands people, playing in big arenas, and the elation of winning. There’s nothing quite like it. ... . But this is one fleeting moment in the millions of moments it took to get here, and that is the thing that makes it all worth it. After 19 years I know this. You can’t appreciate these moments for what they are unless you’ve had the grind of knock backs, of constant failure, in my case the 13 years in england where I left my comfort zone to play in front of a man and a dog, freezing cold weather, you are verbally abused every weekend, and if you’re lucky you get a thank you for your services. That is how I know how special it is to represent the @brisbaneroarfc . The supporters are incredible, and for that I will be forever grateful. #JY21 @theonegloveco @onegloveaus @ Bankwest Stadium
10.01.2022 On Monday I had the chance to continue to share my journey to Nepal to visit the @wyiaustralia for the first Jamie Young Cup. @jogracehealy from @foxsportsaus kindly took time out of her schedule to fly up from Sydney to chat about my adventure and what it meant to be part of something that impacts people. ... I’m proud to be a part of @wyiaustralia and without them I would never have had that sort of experience that I did. You can’t buy what I experienced over there, where life is as real as it’s gets. As I said to Jo: In Australia we’re taught that we can live our dreams to attain happiness, but for the Nepalese people, just surviving is their reality. So they focus on what they do have as opposed to the things they don’t. For me that’s gratitude, it’s a mindset, and it’s unsurprising they seem happy to me. #JY21 @brisbaneroarfc @ Suncorp Stadium
10.01.2022 Great to be nominated in the A league team of the Year votings https://www.a-league.com.au//hyundai-a-league-team-year-go
10.01.2022 When @brisbaneroarfc approached me about extending my contract it was a pretty easy decision to make. I’m delighted to have committed my long term future to this club. . The work doesn’t stop, it keeps going everyday, and again I have this opportunity to come everyday to work towards a purpose, a collective purpose. That’s what’s important to me as this gives my life a sense of meaning and value. To be part of something important and to contribute to that. ... . It doesn’t matter if you work as cleaner, work in a cafe, or play sport. We all have levels of importance to someone, we all rely on each other, we can all impact someone and help them when they’re struggling physically or mentally. #JY21
10.01.2022 Tonight we play @wellingtonphoenix . Looking forward to this game with this team of players. We play for the people of BRISBANE!!! #JY21 @brisbaneroarfc
09.01.2022 Thanks to the guys down at @f45_training_carindale for letting me come down and train in their way. I used to do a lot of circuit/HIIT training when I was england so it was interesting to revisit that sort of style. Lastly, thanks to @stephen_woods_pt_ for showing me a different culture in exercise and there’s more than one way to pursue a goal. #JY21 @eli_daunt @thejackjamesharris
09.01.2022 Catching up with @thecrazybull after our game. One of the most colourful people I have met but has a big heart! As you can see we are in mid-laugh. Most likely talking about my lack of dancing ability! I would agree #jy21
09.01.2022 Working technique: lateral collapses with @jasonkearton before we go into more functional exercises in @brisbaneroarfc GK training. It’s always important to refine the basics because it will increase the quality in the bigger complex exercises. #JY21 @theonegloveco @onegloveaus @asicsaustralia
08.01.2022 Working on technique in training. Not sure what I was doing when @atnc_photography took this one, but what you can see is I’m about to execute a basic set position. This position is key when saving a shot and is the basis of shot stopping. For the collapse you can see the left foot driving towards the ball in conjunction with the leading hands. For me acquiring/refining technique is a central to performance, it is the thing that makes these actions autonomous and efficient. The most influential thing about repetition of technique and effort is the byproducts of mental resilience, determination, self-discipline (direction) and drive. #JY21

07.01.2022 Passionately Working I think as I’ve got older, I try to emphasise being present and being in the moment and ultimately for me that has meant enjoying what you do. It’s this thing that allowed me to quieten my mind and pursue my passions to give my life purpose and meaning. ... Live with passion. #JY21 @theonegloveco
07.01.2022 Unveiling my new custom @theonegloveco. I use a contact latex with a roll finger palm set up. I’ve always used roll fingers because I like having a bit more surface area to absorb shots especially at high speeds. It’s a British sort of thing where a lot of the young kids in Australia will use a flat palm, negative cut, or even a hybrid of the two. Theres a few cool features that I like to add such as #JY21 and some words to action my my focus if I need to. Words can be powerful and whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re usually right. Enjoy!
05.01.2022 As many of you know, developing countries such as Kenya and Nepal have very little infrastructure in place to support its people during a pandemic. There are vulnerable communities who have no access whatsoever to healthcare. Can you contribute to the cost of a @wyiaustralia Youth International Health Camp to help provide free he...althcare to families in Western Kenya? 04.01.2022 Proud to be voted in the @thepfa Team of the Year. I would just like to thank all the players, staff, and stakeholders particularly @wellingtonphoenix who sacrificed the most of everyone to keep the league alive. So thank you, cheers to the others who made it, and it’s great to be a part of @aleague history once again. #JY21
04.01.2022 A winters Sunday wearing my most colourful socks: those who know me well know I have an appalling sock collection, mostly freebies from @asicsaustralia when they sponsored me. However, this pair I won at a @computershare lunch raffle. The reason I like this pair so much aside from the patterns, is that they represent the indigenous people of our country. These people are just as prevalent in my mind as my own heritage of being from Scottish/Sri lankan descent. That is, we ...all have a need to belong, we all have a need for acceptance and putting our best feet forward is to live in the present moment. And for many people, putting our best feet forward is all we have and sometimes that is enough. I love history and philosophy, I love culture, but also I think l like to have perspective, and from that viewpoint I am interested in humanity. The more I read about culture and successful organisations, the more I observe a sense of leaving something better then once one came, that is to advance a just cause. #JY21 @simonsinek See more

04.01.2022 Earlier this week we had a young @brisbaneroarfc supporter Lachlan come visit us at training. He plays for @caboolturesportsfc and is mad about football and the Roar. He came and put a smile on his face in a difficult time for him and that shows a lot about his character. I was fortunate enough to present him with a signed shirt that hopefully inspires him but also knows there are people out there thinking of him in his challenges. ... Keep smiling my friend and don’t ever give up! #JY21 #roarasone
04.01.2022 A proud moment for me to be voted @league Fans Player of the Season. I think this is a great award to not just be recognised by @brisbaneroarfc fans for my on field efforts, but also all footballing fans around Australia. My journey this season was challenging and again I was to start the season on the bench. In football there’s always opinions but I very much believe in the power of intrinsic motivation and it’s more important to show up everyday through the rituals and ha...bits that embody who we are. That courage is the necessary ingredient to pursue mastery and these challenges are the moments that makes us determined and fundamentally resilient. I didn’t necessarily want to win an award for my efforts, I just wanted to be good at my job, and in this case I’m grateful people have taken notice of that. Finally I just wanted to thank all the fans around Australia for appreciating my efforts and I hope as a footballer we can give you a product that you deserve and the one we all want to be a part of. We have a lot of work to do to get the game right in our country. I firmly believe we can make this game what it can be, and that is a culture, a way of life. Thank you. #JY21 @aleague See more

03.01.2022 Thank you to the fans for voting my saves vs @perthgloryfc as @thealeague save of the year. Usually those seconds bits are tapped in for a goal but you just never know as a goalkeeper and on this occasion I had enough to keep it out. Only took me 18 years to make a sequence of saves like that and it was all worth it #JY21 @theonegloveco @onegloveaus @asicsaustralia
03.01.2022 Great to be back representing this great club and our supporters. Check this save out. Making reaction saves is all about standing up and being hard to beat. What I mean by this is often for keepers to go down and strikers can lift over them or pass it around them. Therefore, standing up allows for a reliance on the reactions and a belief in having those reactions. I view it like a game of probability. Increase the probability, increase the chance of a save. #JY21 Brisbane Roar FC
03.01.2022 Raring to go tomorrow night!! . Another opportunity to represent this club and play the game that I love! #JY21 .
03.01.2022 Another opportunity for a hit out vs @goldcoastknightsfc . #JY21 @theonegloveco @onegloveaus
02.01.2022 It’s the start of another preseason. In fact it’s the 19th of my career and I still enjoy football as much now as I did back in 2001. You have to laugh, where does the time go? I think it’s the little things that I enjoy the most, the banter with the players and coaches, and just being able to exercise on a daily basis. It’s not easy to train at an elite level, but I’d rather struggle at something that inspires me then staying in my comfort zone doing something easy. @asicsaustralia @theonegloveco #JY21
