25.01.2022 Today I made some plywood dividers for my drawer. The drawer is in an old (maybe 1940’s or earlier) secretary’s desk that I bought second hand - which is slowly becoming my little ‘place for everything’. I do appreciate and value old things, things before the age of mass commodification, things that were made to last a lifetime and longer. 18.01.2022 Currawongs looking west. All done on this big wall in the Glebe! Thank you Cat and Ron for inviting me into your life and home to paint your house - I feel so lucky to have spent a week amongst the gum trees, wildlife and sunshine whilst painting this mural. It is a fittingly ‘Hobartian’ mural on the edge of the reserve, depicting our local fauna and flora and changing skies. 15.01.2022 ‘Bringing Back the Medicine’ It’ll be a week or two before I’m able to get back out there and finish this wall off... here’s a little teaser of what’s to come. This is a female and male Superb Fairy Wren... and as with much sexual dimorphism in the avian world, the plumage of the male is brightly coloured whilst the female wears the more practical and camouflaging tones of the forest floor. However! This female has entered a portal and returned with the wings of a Bright Eyed Brown Butterfly - a transmogrification! And in this way, she is bringing back the medicine. 12.01.2022 I wasn’t sure what I was going to paint for @floatingsauna_lakederby as I drove up to Derby in Tasmania’s North East with @emilyelizajewellery. On the drive up through the mountains north of Fingal and Mathinna (and in Derby itself), we saw quite a number of these Tasmanian (or Green) Rosellas, and of course White and Black Cockatoos against the rain laden sky. On arriving we experienced the amazing Floating Sauna on Briseis Hole, which our wonderful host Nigel informed us, w...as once a large tin mine till the deadly floods of 1929, when the Briseis Dam burst and the Cascade River flooded the town, killing 14 people. The sauna looks out across this ‘lake’, framing majestic clouds that tumble above. It was once a denuded landscape, now it is green and lush, though the remnants of natural and human history proliferate the area. It features #parishilton wearing a #voteordie shirt (taken from the media that year) and a quote by the captain of the Iraqi soccer team, also of that year. It’s a #streetart style #painting that was made with spray paint and hand cut stencils. #jamin2007

Always feels weird throwing them out... most of the process is in the cutting of the stencils, rather than the spraying. I don’t use stencil’s very often these days, but whenever I see an old one I remember the hours and hours spent with them and the things happening in my life around them. #things
