Canberrans have rushed to soak up the sun in Queensland as the Territory enters Spring, booking out the first flights to the sunshine state after it reopened its border to the ACT on 25SEP20. Flights at Canberra Airport have increased from 45 last week to more than 65 next week to keep up with the demand after both Queensland and South Australia reopened borders to the ACT. There are now 15 direct services to Queensland per week 11 to Brisbane and four to the Gold Coast. Starting today with Thai Airways in their Bangkok Head Office - ‘Passengers’ enter the restaurant on the second floor of the airline headquarters in Bangkok by climbing a set of stairs fashioned after a staircase at the airport. There is a passage that acts like the typical aircraft door, with a moment for staff to check your booking in the shape of a boarding pass (that you get to keep as a souvenir after the meal). Take a seat at one of the many real economy seats (or business seats for coffee) taken from a grounded aircraft. Diners then notice that the smaller coffer tables are made out of aircraft tires and the larger ones out of older engines. The airline already operates a trendy restaurant at Phuket Intl Airport and saw there was potential for a further offering in Bangkok. According to the airline, it trialed the service locally with its first-class chefs in June and July, and thanks to unprecedented demand, the carrier decided to open it up to the public. From Saturday 03OCT20, the terminal will return to seven days a week.... The number of flights to Brisbane is expected to double by the end of the week and for the first time Qantas will operate between Canberra and the Gold Coast with four flights a week. 13.01.2022 The Australian Prime Minister has announced that the Australian international arrival caps will be increased for travel into NSW, QLD and WA. This means an further 1,500 Australians a week will be able to return home. At this stage Victoria is still not accepting international arrivals. From 27SEP20, NSW will be able to receive an additional 500 returning travelers a week. QLD and WA will be receive an additional 200 per week.... From 04OCT20, Queensland will move to 500 extra a week, and by 11OCT20, WA will also accept an extra 500 a week. This news has just been announced and we will share more detail when it comes to hand. If you do have family members, still overseas wishing to return to Australia, we strongly recommend they register with their local Australian consulate or embassy, as we are then able to book their flights home for you based on these instructions.
