25.01.2022 Thank you Habitus Living for the great write up on duplexes and featuring our project Masuto in Melbourne. "Despite the constraints of their sites, these duplexes maximise liveability with light-filled spaces that are connected to their surroundings and have stand-out street appeal." https://www.habitusliving.com//six-residential-duplex-deve

25.01.2022 As many people have recently experienced working from home, and may have the opportunity to continue this arrangement in the future, we are anticipating a greater desire from clients to incorporate a designated, functional space in their homes. This space does not necessarily need to be a room like the traditional study. There are many ways to achieve a space that can also be multi-functional. What would your ideal work from home space be like? Perhaps you dont need a space to sit as much as a space to store devices, equipment and resources? Perhaps you just wished that you had an outlook and some natural light? We would love to hear your thoughts...

24.01.2022 It is always exciting to see projects when the veil of scaffolding comes down. This Gold Coast waterfront duplex project is really coming along now! For the south-facing site we designed dual aspect living spaces by incorporating a landscaped north-facing courtyard. One can take in views to the south while enjoying natural light and warmth in cooler months from the north. ... Natural cross-ventilation and cool coastal breezes off the water will be able to be controlled as desired making these living spaces and outdoor courtyard very enjoyable to live in year round. 23.01.2022 Delighted to have Bird House featured in this absolutely beautiful new publication Architects at Home. Thank you & well done Jeanette, Ryan and team at Images Publishing. Thank you Scott Burrows Photographer. Book Summary:... "This stunning book takes you on a thrilling tour through the fascinating, eclectic and stylish abodes of some of the worlds best-known architects. Not only do these pages offer a rare glimpse into each architects personal, private environment, but each uniquely designed project provides insight into how each architect marries trends with their own personal philosophy, and how they inject interior design flair into their own contemporary domain. Combining rich photography and spectacular imagery with an incisive summary by a leading architecture specialist, Architects at Home provides a rich source for those keen to delve into the design aesthetics, concepts and innovations of prominent architects from around the globe."

22.01.2022 A little sneak peak at our latest duplex project on the Gold Coastbeautiful waterfront views from the dining/ window seat and the ensuite.

22.01.2022 We were thrilled and honoured to be awarded by the Australian Institute of Architects on Friday night. Our project Bird House was awarded Regional Project of the Year for the Gold Coast Region. The Award is Presented to a Regional project by a Regional Architect resident to that Region on the basis of the projects response to place. Projects in every single category from housing to schools and sporting complexes were eligible for this award so we were quite blown away... to receive it for our humble abode! After our Regional Commendation Award earlier in the year, we were in the running for the Peoples Choice Award which we also received- a BIG thank you to The People who voted for us! The Citation by Jurors on receiving the Regional Project of the Year: Bird House.... "Perched on a ridgeline with forest slopes to the north and south the Bird House could be analogous to a waterbird; sleek and effortless in appearance but below the surface it paddles hard. The simple elegance of the building form, spaces and detailing conceals a rigorous process of design and consultation with engineer, suppliers and contractors to exploit the maximum potential from standard, off-the-shelf products and systems. This process has achieved the design clarity expected of high level (& high budget) bespoke housing on a budget approaching that of project homes. Its connection to site, climatic performance and great success in achieving a very comfortable and fun family home and workspace more than qualifies it as the Gold Coast Regional Project of the Year." Thank you to Jurors: Pia Willemsen, Rob Norman, Chris Collier, Philip Follent, John Thong & Paul Worroll. Thank you to the Australian Institute of Architects. Thank you to The People and our clients, consultants, builders and suppliers for your continued support. Angela and Mark Jamison

18.01.2022 Our new residential project in Mermaid Beach is getting a nice wash down with all the welcome rain on the Gold Coast this week. This beachside home will enjoy being naturally cooled for the majority of our hot, humid summers. The orientation, internal planning and strategic placement of windows and louvres will promote natural cross-ventilation and reduce on-going energy consumption costs.

17.01.2022 Who loves alfresco dining? Outdoor entertaining spaces need to be thoughtfully designed to be enjoyable, practical, flexible and easily furnished. These much loved spaces work well when they have appropriate orientation, so that you are either in the shade or sun as desired, protected from winds but enjoying cool breezes, have close proximity to the kitchen, garden and pool, and circulation paths between these areas and around furniture is considered. 08.01.2022 A black timber entry door at our recently completed project in Melbourne...designed by Jamison Architects.

06.01.2022 Concept Design for a new family home in Melbourne with an exposed site to a street intersection, a south-facing entry and a client request for a contemporary minimal aesthetic, this design required a considered response that provided privacy, allowed city views from the upper level, entry shelter from the elements and incorporated materials that softened a palette with concrete. The warmth of timber, texture of natural stone and arrival joinery through the front yard lands...cape, work well to transform this block to a sought after address and positively contribute to the subrurban streetscape appeal. Living and outdoor alfresco entertaining spaces enjoy a north-facing aspect with a strong connection to a private, beautifully landscaped, rear garden oasis.

02.01.2022 I wanted to pay respect to the sad passing of Kerry Hill this week, one of the finest architects of our time, for whose work I had the greatest admiration, and from first accounts a lovely man. My sincere condolences to his family, friends, staff at Kerry Hill Architects and those close to him. I am humbled that some years ago, I had the privilege of valuable experience at Kerry Hill Architects in Singapore, it was life changing and shaped my architectural career. I will be forever grateful to Bruce (the late Bruce Fell-Smith partner at KHA) and Kerry for their generosity, kindness, mentorship, words of wisdom and influence on my life as an architect.

01.01.2022 Very excited this week to see the start of this special waterfront duplex project on the Gold Coast. The design incorporates a north-facing courtyard so main living spaces can enjoy a dual aspect- southerly water views and a northern aspect to a landscaped courtyard.
