20.01.2022 I love Ayurveda, and I love the way it accepts Western Medicine as well as other alternative medicines. Ayurveda outlines how to achieve optimum physical and mental health so that you can therefore achieve spiritual fulfillment. Physical or psychological disease are leading causes of stress, further perpetuating the disease! It's a vicious cycle and it's not easy to get out of. A gradual implementation of some basic Ayurvedic principles is the best way to get you on your way. It doesn't have to be all or nothing, it doesn't have to be scary. After all, balance is what it's all about.

08.01.2022 Studies conducted by the Heart Math Institute have shown that exercises promoting heart rate variability (HRV), aka exercise which causes your heart rate to increase and decrease several times through the course of the workout, is just as effective as psychotherapy for people suffering PTSD, anxiety and depression Teaching your body that it can enter and exit a state of 'stress' during exercise, means that you are physically better able to cope with external stressors when ...they present themselves. The stress response is normal, it's how our species has survived. The real killer these days is we so often enter a state of stress and get stuck there. This is because what causes us stress these days isn't being chased by a lion or fighting off an enemy, its the constant burden of financial stress, or a boss/clients who can reach us almost 24/7 thanks to technology... Honestly this list could be so long (let me know in the comments what your long term stressors are). Being stuck in that long term stress response cycle means our bodies are flooded with cortisol, our immune system is down-regulated, our gut microbiome is killed off, we get brain fog, we gain or lose weight, we have trouble sleeping, we crave sugar or we self medicate with alcohol or drugs. One of the best exercises for varying your heart rate is yoga! Following on from my last post introducing myself as an ayurvedic lifestyle and nutrition consultant, and reiki practitioner; I also want to let you know about something else exciting I have been working on over the last few weeks.
