23.01.2022 Outdoor Dining - Reality check We are told, indoor dining is not going to be an option anytime soon - here’s a summary of how city of Melbourne plans to reopen it’s hospo businesses and allow dining on footpaths and parklets. Does City of Kingston have a similar plan? ... Permits required - 10 to 28 days to approve Streets with 50km plus speed limit and arterials owned by Vic roads are ineligible for parklet dining Separate VCGLR liquor license required Venues within 10 meters of intersections are not eligible Detail site plans are required part of permit application - more professional fees small businesses can’t afford! 22.01.2022 Kingston Council Election is just around the corner! We need local representatives who understand the challenges of putting food on the table, paying household bills, keeping, or creating a job so that together we can survive and thrive in a covid-safe environment. Now more than ever, local families and businesses need council support. ... As a small business advisor, I want to focus on developing local opportunities to grow businesses and jobs. As a mother, I know that our children deserve a safe, supportive environment and access to facilities that support their education and development. My single most important goal is to improve quality of life in our community. I know how to listen and will work hard to get results for our residents and ratepayers!
22.01.2022 How you vote in this council election will shape Kingston’s future over the next four years. Let’s be transparent here about what I’m not: Fence sitter... Big ego or personal agenda No real life, professional of family experience Political ambitions Doesn’t pick up the phone, doesn’t show up My way or highway Accountable to vested interests What I’m about: I’m happy to listen and help you I collaborate, not compete! 20 years in the workforce, an accountant, wife and a mother No interest in political career I answer my phone/email and community functions. Will treat councillors and officers with respect! Only answerable to residents Also: I’ll leave gutter stuff to people who are exceptionally good at it - I’m not! #chelsea #localgovernment #rightchoice #womeninpolitics #2020 #kingstoncitycouncil
22.01.2022 COVID-19 Recovery: Economic Resilience in Local Government Back in March 2020, Local governments should have revisited their short and long term financial planning based on different scenarios for infection rates, resource implications and forecasted economic impact on rates and revenue based services. 7 months into the pandemic, councils should be pretty clear on their budget/financial obligations during the crisis and beyond.... Main financial implications would be: reduction in revenue generating services increase in community support packages increase in demand in non-revenue generating services To continue to deliver essential services, local governments may need further funding. Both councillors and finance officers must have real understanding of the cost to serve on key services and a clear benefits case for investments still continuing. Zerobased budgeting (ZBB) could be considered this approach requires all expenses to be justified for each new period. The process of zerobased budgeting starts from a zero base, and every function within an organization is analyzed for its needs and costs. It could help eliminate non essential, unproductive costs and allow savings to be redirected to more productive areas that will drive future growth. https://janeagirtan.blog//covid-19-recovery-economic-resi/

21.01.2022 Edithvale Fire Brigade led a multi-agency rescue incident this morning, involving a worker that had fallen from a roof level down onto scaffolding at a construc...tion site in Aspendale. The patient was ultimately extracted by removing a window and internal wall on the first floor of the building and taking them out for extraction by a supporting Fire Rescue Victoria aerial appliance from Fire Station 87 (Dandenong), for loading into an ambulance. This was necessary because the building under construction had no internal stairs for access. The patient was transported to The Alfred Trauma Centre with suspected spinal and other injuries. 17.01.2022 YOUR RATES NOTICE EXPLAINED Many residents wrote to me after receiving their rates notice and they are not happy! Heres what you need to know:... Cr Gledhill, Cr Hua and Cr Bearsley lobbied for 0% rate increase (including all Councils fees and charges). Cr Oxley, Cr Eden, Cr West, Cr Barth and Cr Staikos supported one off, 5% discount, for this year only. In calculating the 5% discount, Councillors first took the revalued property value (Jan 1 2020), added 2% to last years rate then applied the 5% discount, netting out at 2% reduction on 2019 rates. That discount does NOT apply to all ratepayers! If you dont use Council for your rubbish collection you wont see the discount, this means many living in apartments and most businesses, retail and commercial will see nothing! Commercial & industrial businesses who are on JobKeeper, can access Councils $112.20 rate rebate on application I dont think this is good enough - provided many council services have been suspended, families are struggling and business have been closed due to ongoing restrictions. If elected, Ill advocate for no rate increase to assist Our community with post covid recovery - being a Chartered Accountant and manager I know how to prioritize, save and manage budgets effectively!

15.01.2022 A better choice for Chelsea & Harbour Town Lets face it Kingston needs change! Same people have been on council for years little had improved, yet our rates keep going up annually. ... Like many residents, I want to see: small businesses supported and revitalized shopping precincts with better parking more support for our community centres and libraries increased sport and recreation investment ensure our ward is safer place to live and play, particularly in summer better early childhood and family facilities. 08.01.2022 What can Council do to improve animal welfare? Advocate that vets can scan microchips and contact owners directly. Reduce excessive fines for unregistered pets and reclaim fines for lost pets. ... Every animal should be listed on a lost pets register with a photo, location found, sex, breed and pound location. Most pets are suitable for adoption. Animals that are not coping in the pound can have an option of going to a rescue group. Subsidized or concession rates for desexing pets. This will help reduce litters, less dogs and cats impounded and killed. What are your ideas?
