25.01.2022 If any of you awesome women out there have ever thought of doing something like a vision quest where you get to be alone in the bush for few days I super highly recommend Kate Rydge and Nature Philosophy to hold you through this in a beautiful way one of the best things I’ve ever done

23.01.2022 Sharing ideas for learning at home for those with kids at home at the moment in case they are useful... We will be learning as we go what works for us but I'm s...tarting from following the kids' flow of play and interests and spending as much time in nature as possible. I'm trying to be a "mentor" rather than a teacher... allowing them the time and space to PLAY and providing resources and questions that flow from their interests and questions.... Since I have a 5 and 7 year old I will mainly be referring to Early Stage 1 (ES1)(Kindergarten) and Stage 1 (S1)(Year 1-2) NSW Maths Syllabus. What a fun day! Slow moving and relaxed, playing playing playing. - Walking along the fallen tree in the Magic Forest, wondering how long it is and how we might measure it - spotting shapes in our garden and drawing, measuring them (ES1 2D Shapes & S1 Length) as well as practicing writing and learning our letters (Kindergarten) -making jewelry and selling it in a shop using 10 cent pieces (counting by 10s, money) - taking our wildlife rescue ducks Raven, Starfire and Hollow who we have been raising for 2 months to the lagoon to get used to the idea of being released into the wild (estimating how many other ducks we can see in the water) -going to our "Sit Spot" at the creek... strengthening our connections with the plants, trees and birds who live there every day See more

23.01.2022 NATURE CHALLENGE Today I moved my Saturday morning maths students outside under a tree near the learning Centre I work. Everyone loved it!

22.01.2022 We planted some veg gardens today it was such a beautiful day we did all our learning outside with the chickens and ducks...Luna and Juno helped by using mat...hs - measuring length and width, perimeter, area. We also talked about radius, diameter, circumference and pi. As well the as volume and capacity of the planter box. Maths is everywhere See more

14.01.2022 NATURE CHALLENGE Raven the duck having a swim on the slide

14.01.2022 In this time of distancing ourselves from other humans its the perfect time to connect with every other plant, animal, bird, repile, fish, amphibian and insect ...species!!!! woohoo! So I'm setting homework!!! Sit spot every day for parents and kids! Great for connecting with nature, lowering stress levels, learning about nature and feeling part of an infinitely large community of beings. A sit spot is a place you go every day (in your own backyard, outside your back door, on your verandah, etc) and just be and notice what's happening. Much love from Jane http://8shields.org//nature-connection-basics-the-sit-spot/ See more

13.01.2022 Autumn Equinox. Equal day and night as we descend into the darkness for the next 3 months until the shortest day and longest night of the Winter Solstice in June. Today reminds of the balance the Earth is begging us to re-member in ourselves and relationships with all other beings. We are going into the darkness for the next 3 months whether we like it or not and being asked to let go of what we no longer need. Many people are feeling anxious at this time, and for good reason...s. My wish, my hope, my prayer for this Autumn Equinox is that we individually and as a human community let go of all that is harming ourselves and the earth and allow nature to guide us back into balance with ourselves, each other and all of life. In these difficult and uncertain times I am grateful to all of Nature for reminding me I am part of a community beyond the human and for providing refuge for my mind and body I wish for everyone to have the opportunity to spend time in nature each day and experience peace, belonging and refuge. I invite you to share your photos, stories, words about how nature is helping you each day. See more

12.01.2022 Southern Hemisphere Samhain/Halloween. I can certainly feel the descent into Winter with the change in weather. From my wonderful teacher Jane Hardwicke Collings "This is an invitation from Mother Nature to be with one of the greatest opportunities and lessons in life, to be present with what is, and at this point in the cycle what is happening is the slowing down, going inward, letting go of all that no longer serves you and moving toward your still quiet centre. This time ahead invites inner reflection and contemplation." https://janehardwickecollings.com/samhain-halloween-southe/

11.01.2022 I recently did this interview with my awesome friend Amanda Curmi for her Awaken Through Motherhood project - check out her page mamas! She is an amazing Yoga Teacher/Mentor. Guiding transformation through the sacred art of mothering and holistic selfcare.

08.01.2022 If you are feeling anxious or stressed at the moment (pretty sure that's all of us to some extent) PLEASE WATCH!!! This is the BEST thing I've watched to help calm our nervous systems at this time... and wonderful discussion of the current situation. I guarantee it will make you feel better just watching and listening to these two wonderful humans who I am privileged to know, as well as giving tools to connect with our bodies and nature. Thankyou Kate Rydge and Sam Robertson Robertson

07.01.2022 Dear friends Our next Cycles of Nature Women's Circle will begin on the New Moon next Monday 23 March from 12pm- 2pm on the creek in Copacabana. Get in touch to book in. I'm looking forward to setting intentions for this cycle for ourselves and our community and providing each woman the opportunity to find support from her sisters and nature. Big love Jane Women have gathered together in circles for thousands of years to share their stories, hopes, dreams, fears, grief and l...ove for themselves, their children, their communities and the Earth..When we gather as women we provide support and care to empower each other in the big and small things in our lives. This cycle of 4 Women's Circles will begin on the new moon. Each week we will bring our awareness to the changing energies of the moon cycle, as well as other cycles of nature- the sun, seasons and cycles of our lives as women. Jane is holding the Women's Circle as a beautiful space to connect more deeply with ourselves, other women and nature. Each week we will also explore some simple meditation and nature connection practices. We will also be incorporating some Deep Ecology/Work That Reconnects processes. The Circles will be held on the creek bank at Jane's home in Copacabana: All of the practices are meant to be taken home to bring more beauty, magic, peace and awareness into our normal, busy, daily lives of family, work, school, study, etc. It would be preferable to attend all 4 circles in the cycle. Please let me know if you would like to attend and I will book you in! If you have any questions please get in touch by messenger or phone. love Jane
